John Butcher reports: Bromley Green hit 15 to stay top

Where do I begin with this match ? There is so much I could talk about that I would run out of space . This week it was Top V bottom and whilst the form guide would suggest a routine win , in football anything is possible. At the top you can get complacent and assume you’ll win and come unstuck and at the bottom when you’re on a poor run of games the luck has to change at some point. Trust me I’ve been watching Liverpool for years and after last week nothing surprises me. There was no complacency here though.

The message from the gaffer at the start was simple. Get out at the from the first whistle and run at then , work them hard and show them why we are top, then after a few minutes play our game and pass it about.

Well 15 minutes later and we are already 5-0 up with early goals from Gerrard , Phoebe , James and Jack. With Star of the week and player of the Match James having a hand in 4 of them.

I did just want to mention the performance from James this week. We had 6 different scorers this week , James scoring 2 and being involved in I think 6 goals . Crosses with his left , through balls , a solo goal from one end of the pitch to the other and a really strong  performance. Well done James 💥 💥

Whilst this match was proving to be what we expected it to be, it gave us the chance of playing nice football but also mixing things up a bit. Putting to practice what we try in training , Passing out from the back in game, playing from the box and passing from one end of the pitch to the other . Switching the play and applying tactics.

Giving some players some game time in different positions and trying a few new things out. All of which we can’t always do in a more competitive game so was good to be able to do it this week. They will benefit from it moving forward. Special mention to William as well for what I think was his first ever league goal for us. 💥💥

This was a really enjoyable game for our team . A year up in a new league and even though Charing are without a win you still need to go out there and do the business and 15 goals and the passing from everyone,  the fitness and the discipline was spot on.

The boys played with a smile and when they were on the sidelines were desperate to get back on. The goals just kept on coming and the team just kept on playing their game. On 50 minutes , Gerrard , Lewis , James and myself had to dash off leaving with 10 minutes to spare and at 11-1. In that time the team still went on and scored another 4 goals and Charing literally threw the towel in. One of their players was heard to have looked round at the ref and asking if full time could be blown now,  was credit to how well we played and how much they now wanted the game to be over .

That’s 5 league games now without a loss and this weekend will prove a different test with First V second in our biggest game of the season

Well done to all the boys and girl, not just for this game but for the season so far. Terrific effort.

See you at training, let’s work hard and let’s rest up well on Friday night

Green continue to make progress against Pilgrims in local derby

Two goals from Sam Ades in his first outing of the campaign and one from George Mabb earned the seniors a 3-1 victory at Great Chart this morning. Two wins on the spin now for Sid’s boys as things have picked up after a sluggish start to the season. Next Sunday we welcome Ashford Spartans to Sandyacres for what should be an entertaining Sheber Cup tie (10.30am kick off).

Results in our division today: Ashford Dynamo 11-1 Charing Reserves; Pilgrims 1-3 Bromley Green; Singleton Barn 1-0 Mersham Reserves; Waterside 1-5 Folkestone Utd Reserves

Drew 1-1 today with Deal. Good first half but a quite sloppy second half had us hanging on a little. Boys disappointed feeling things didn’t quite go for them. Our scorer was Ronnie. Thanks Will. [photos to follow]

Results in our division today: Deal Town Rangers 1-1 Bromley Green; Faversham Town 3-1 Bredhurst; Herne Bay Harriers 5-0 Snowdown & Aylesham

Under 13s Pirtek at Sandyacres this afternoon against Dynamo United

U13s EKYL still smiling after being toppled by the league leaders

Some super play – but it’s about goals boys! U13s Pirtek EKYL report

For the second consecutive game, we went behind in the first minute – for goodness sake lads switch on from the start! The worst of openings but incredibly, despite the final 7-0 scoreline, we matched the runaway leaders for much of the contest; ultimately paying the price for missing five (yes five) open goals during the second period when it would have been easier to score than roll the ball wide. Dynamo capitalised on their chances at the other end however and by half time held a 4-0 advantage.

Some of our play was delightful as we enjoyed a large share of possession – but big pitches don’t suit us and in time we will adapt. Each player made a contribution and they understand that we are experimenting and on a learning curve.

The PoM this week went to the captain Preston Webb who led by example throughout. Thanks go to referee Richard, ‘lino’ Michal, Chris and all the families for their usual support.

Looking forward to next Sunday, we are away to Faversham Strike Force Hurricanes and arrangements will be given at training (5.30pm start if we can please everyone to try and beat the fading light). Thank you DH.
