From Aaron at the U10s McDonalds match this morning

The team this week went quite the opposite to last week by sending an all out attack! (Was nice to see them all get experience of attacking). Had some good chances but couldn’t quite finish it off. With last week’s defence, this week’s attack, we are well on the way to finding a middle ground. I think it’s now just the case of refining/training on the basics of marking, control, looking up, passing. Well done to everyone, keep your chins up and keep pushing on. [Editor – sorry not allowed to give the score]

Report from Damo Hatcher
Very entertaining game of football today. We went 1-0 down soon after kick off, but never let our heads drop. We made a break, but was taken down in the box winning a penalty, which was confidently put away by Charlie Wren. 1-1 we was back in it. Half time we come off having conceded another goal putting us 2-1 down at the start of the second half. We come out fighting. But they got us on the break, again we ended up conceding another. We held our shape, and kept battling. We got a goal back, and the confidence within the team was growing, our defence and midfield was solid, winning the majority of the ball allowing us to turn up the pressure and push. I feel we broke their defence and was able to play with a little more freedom, dropping Ben to CB and pushing Charlie W forward. This gave us a last ditched attempt to get that one more shot away, which their keeper couldn’t get a firm grip on allowing William to follow it in and take the goal. Final score 3-3

Well done again to all that played. What a great game to watch.

Friendly Charing U11s v Bromley Green Hurricanes U10s

Match summary from David Bridge

Squad: Thomas, Ethan, Nathaniel, Charlie, Ibrahim, Owen, Tyler, George, Alfie and Daniel

No league game so we took the opportunity to play a challenging friendly against Charing U11s. Both teams started well and played some good football. Perhaps taking advantage of the fact Charing were used to playing offsides, we took the lead with a nicely taken goal at the far post by Owen. The team then continued to defend well against a well prepared team whose passing and movement was good. Eventually, the pressure told and Charing made it all square but we continued to be a threat on the break. A nice break out from the back was finished by Tyler to give us a half time lead.

It was quickly level after half time with a slight mix up at the back but the boys kept their heads up. Charing edged ahead but Charlie pulled us level with outstanding curling effort from outside the area. Both teams played well with Charings experience started to show with outstanding some movement and switch of play, catching us out on occasions. However, the team never gave up and continued to try and play football. Tyler pulled us to within one goal with a sweetly hit shot from edge area in last few minutes but It was not to be.

A great game of football against a really well organised team. Difficult to pick a PoTM today, proud of all the players but for his hard work, skill and growing confidence on the ball the award went to Ibrahim. Well played Ibrahim and the team – play like this in our own age group and in for good season.
