- Result of the weekend goes to our Under 18s (3-1 win at Herne Bay)
- Seniors 4-1 ahead but have to settle for 4-4 at Sandyacres
- Under 13s Pirtek hit by last-ditch winner in 9-goal thriller at Ramsgate
Last game of the weekend … and our Under 18s stun the Bay
Herne Bay 1-3 Bromley Green
A brilliant performance from a small U18s squad that coped really well with a muddy pitch.
We went 1-0 down early in the first half but Ronnie quickly changed that with a superb goal after getting in behind from a great ball over the top. We were quick to get a second when George scored a blinding free kick. A corner towards the end of the first half led to Aidan Harding heading the ball into the back of the net which saw the boys looking confident going into the second half.
A strong defensive performance in the second half saw us end the game quite comfortably. Ronnie, George and Conan causing problems on the counter attack all afternoon saw a very complete performance.
The boys also did really well to keep their heads while the ref was dealing with issues from the other team and some parents. We remained focused and didn’t get drawn into anything which I’m very proud of. Very good afternoon from everyone. Thanks Will
Seniors coasting against Lydd but have to settle for share of the spoils
Sid was not an overly happy bunny on Sunday night after his side had let slip a 4-1 advantage against visitors Lydd Town. Mike Halpin was arguably our most influential player with the goals coming from George Mabb, Hassan Tejan 2 and Bradley Taffurelli.

Football can be so cruel!
Ramsgate 5-4 Bromley Green Pirtek
Beautiful rainbows on the way but there was no pot of gold for the Under 13s as they went down with virtually the last kick of the match from the Rams outstanding left-footed giant who thumped home from 30 yards.
As usual, we conceded the early goal and were three behind before Charlie Bryant made the most of a defensive mix-up just before the interval. 3-1 and I told the boys we could still win this as we had played the better football.
Kris Kristov moved up front into his old position before the lockdown and notched a splendid opportunist hat-trick. We were buzzing and at 4-4 should have won the game but, with the seconds ticking away, their star forward had other ideas! It sounds like sour grapes but parents were asking what on earth a player of that quality is doing at this level.
For our part, most of the lads are not physically strong enough for adult pitches – it is not a criticism of their ability or indeed application – but a factual handicap they face.
We will take the positives into next weeks home game with Cheriton and hopefully iron out a few issues at training on Thursday at Repton (6pm). Thank you to all the parents as usual for their support – a fantastic game but I feel so sorry for the boys who fought back gallantly from 4-1 down and deserved to come home with at least a point. Greavsie might call it a Funny old Game – but today it was a cruel game.
Player of the Match will be presented at training on Thursday – so I look forward to seeing you all. DH
Well done Oliver – McDonalds U12s PoM on 17 October 2020

Did you remember to turn your clocks back one hour?

Happy birthday on Sunday to Zak Chirashi!
This morning we welcome Lydd Town to Sandyacress (10.30am kick off). In the afternoon, first in action are the Under 13s Pirtek who visit Ramsgate in the EKYL (meet 11am in our car park). Will and the Under 18s are also off to the seaside (well, it is just the weather) to face Herne Bay Harriers (2pm kick off). Sadly, long-serving youth player Frankie Cumpper has decided to give up football – we wish him all the best for the future.
Under 9s Dreamers have great game with Rhinos Whites

We had a very entertaining game at home against Rhino Whites, was a very fast paced game with both teams creating chances, and some great play.
Was that sort of game you didn’t want it to end and would not care if you lost – it was very enjoyable to watch and a draw a fair result.
Mention must go to Bubba who hit a screamer from the halfway line great to see. Goals Kai x2 & Bubba x1. Tony Nelson.
