Grant Turner reports from Great Chart Playing Fields

Bromley Green U14s Skoda Caffyns played a friendly against Pilgrims today. It was a very good and close match with both teams working hard. Final score was BG 1 – 3 Pilgrims who scored 2 late goals as BG tired in last 10 minute’s. Goal scorer Ryan. Player of the match Chelsea.

Well, at least one Chelsea excelled today … Sorry Michelle!

U10s manager Alex Potts reports from a chily Waterside this morning

We dusted off the cobwebs today and got back to football, our first game in six months.
We are proud of how you played today – onwards and upwards to our next game.
Sean Wood player of the match.

Congratulations Sean … Happy Easter!
U10s Hurricanes (Ibrahim and Tyler missing, presumably eating their chocolate eggs!]

Seniors win 3-1 at Sandyacres with two first half goals from Luke Burdon and a third from Hasan Tejan midway through the second period. Report from Timmy – well done lads, a great turn out and good to see the young lads up for it. Deserved victory over Tenterden who are from a higher league. Great all round performance and well done to Lenny Russell, the referees man of the match. Well done and see you Tuesday at Wingham.

U9s Global slow start leads to a 5-0 loss at New Romney. Keeper Tyler Godden kept the score respectable as the rustiness showed.

U12s DVS romped home at Waterside, with some cracking penalties amongst their goals.

Sad news has arrived of the passing yesterday of local man Paul Bibbings. Far too young to be taken. Our condolences have been sent to Doreen, Paula and the family. RIP Paul Bibbings.

Happy birthday Saturday to former players Richard Revell and sponsor Mark Mason!

Our Saturday seniors entertain Tenterden A in a friendly at Sandyacres today (2pm kick off). Timmy has no game now as U13 Utilitas opponents couldn’t raise a side. But there are outings for the Under 9 Global, U10 Hurricanes, U12 DVS and U14 Skoda Caffyns squads. Kick off times are on the 2021 Events & Fixtures page.

No games on Sunday but there is training at Waterside for the U7/8 Development Group (10am) and the U13 Pirtek squad (11am). New faces always welcome – just turn up with boots and shin pads or text Dave Homewood on 07761101988 for further details. Karen will be selling soft drinks and I will give an Easter Egg afterwards to those who take part.

Sometimes it can be informative to look back and see the standards we need to reclaim. A drop into 15 years ago shows us on our way up the ladder again – starting with the WKCC which we won on Good Friday 2006
