Bromley Green 1-1 Deal Town Rangers – Will Lines reports from Sandyacress
A really strong showing from the boys today who were dominant throughout much of the game. That was just missing that final ball to get the win. A really strong start to the match saw a great early goal when a darting run behind from ilja saw him through playing a perfectly weighted ball to Ollie for the tap in. Good things continued to happen throughout the first half – Nelson especially causing their team trouble. Late into the first half we had an opportunity to score a second with a darting run through the defence from Nelson causing them to to give away a penalty. Nelson unfortunately missed the penalty having hit it too high.
Second half started in the same light Ollie and Ilja linking up well upfront while Ethan was marshalling everything at the back. The final ball however was still lacking and we were made to pay with 15 minutes to go when a decision to sin bin Dan after a push in the back had them score the next goal from the resulting free kick with a great towering header. As the game entered the dying moments we continued to push hard looking for the winner; however time ran out and we just couldn’t get it over the line. A great performance that felt like more was deserved. We move on to next week where we will continue to try and close the gap at the top.
Many thanks Will

U11s report from Peter Orji
U11 Bromley Green 8-6 South Ashford. It was a tough match and we deserved to win. Our opponents were difficult to deal with at beginning, they scored first. Sooner our defence Patrick, Aiden, Frankie, Callum and Fred took the situation under control and together with goalkeeper Logan made good fights. It was hard work for Jessie, James, Jack, William in midfield. The strikers Oliver and Thomas did very good runs. I saw some very good team playing and also some good individual skills. Very pleased with them and hope they continue with good work. Player of the match was Thomas by parents choice.
Two for Phoebe as the final beckons for BGFC U12s DVS – report from Dean
Fresh from the quarter final victory last week, Bromley Green had their second away game in this competition. This time the challenge was to get past Biddenden a team we had played and beat once before in the league but a team we knew would be strong contenders
The game proved to live up to a typical semi final with both teams not starting to the best of their ability with some loose passes and tetchy play.. Bromley though did start the better of the two and most of the play was in the opposition half.
Biddenden proved hard to break down in the final third though and whilst we looked on top they were resolute at the back cutting out a lot of through ball passes, however we kept plugging away and halfway through the first half Phoebe powers though from the edge of the box holding off some strong challenges from their defender to finish cooly from close range. 0-1 but not out of sight … yet.
The reminder of the first half continued to be a battle and chances came and went for both teams with Zak absolutely commanding the back and latching on to anything that came his way.
The second half Bromley grew into the game more and played the better football. For a team that is a year older than us we certainly did not look out of place in any aspect , and we matched them physically for anything they threw at us. James was causing havoc on the left hand side , Riley and Keane holding firm in front of the defence , Jack and Phoebe providing the press and energy.
With it all still to play for , the ball falls at Phoebes feet from wide left , and using her skill and some brilliant close touch control dribbles onto the box holding of one fo their defenders once again to make it 0-2.
At this point Biddenden throw everything at the away team and a huge credit to them for fighting right to the end. They probably played the best through out the whole game when being 2 down. We still had our chances though and from a corner we almost made it 3 nil when Gerrard received the ball deep in the penalty box that forces a good save from the keeper.
An unusual but timely change from the coach Dean sees Bromley go 3 at the back for the last 10 minutes or so to see out the game and Lewis , Rhys and William were all superb in holding Strong with Lewis intercepting several last ditch balls and getting rid of the ball and the one time we were stretched at the back Cameron was on hand and had covered the back well to clear any danger they posed in front of goal
Right to the final whistle both teams fought hard and as the final whistle blew a loud cheer was let out by the away parents.
We now move into the final and destiny might just be on our side as the venue for this is Charing. The only place we have won a trophy as a team and a special place for us indeed.
Park Farm await us and we are now 60 minutes away from this team putting some well deserved silverware back in the trophy cabinet
Player of the match will be revealed on Tuesday but they were all stars today and all shone brightly
Well done Bromley Green … roll on the final
