U13s Pirtek EKYL report from Richard Hawkins

U13 Pirtek faced Cheriton Colts at a blustery Waterside today. The conditions made fluent football difficult to play and the first half was quite scrappy as the boys tried to play their way around the opposition who sat deep in numbers. The team have, thankfully, rid themselves of the habit of conceding early goals. Indeed, it was the Greens who struck early, courtesy of a corner from Thomas Hawkins that curled straight into the goal.

The boys quickly doubled their lead when Gabriel Mika struck first time from a fine Charlie Bryant through ball.  The opposition broke out occasionally, but Josh, Rieyaan and Henry worked well to close out the midfield.  Josh was particularly strong in his new CDM position and was faultless in his distribution.

Ben made it 3-0 with an effort from wide on the left. 3-0 at half time.

With the wind against us in the second half, the boys tried to keep it on the grass and started to make their passes count. Two further strikes from Preston made it 5-0, but many more chances were created and the boys will need to take these against other teams.

Solid performances at the back from Archie, Harrison and Austyn. Harvey had very little to do in goal, but kept his concentration and distributed the ball well.

A sporting encounter against a team who were a credit to their club.

Hopefully the team will take the confidence of 2 wins on the bounce into next week’s encounter with in-form Barham.

MOTM was Josh with a great midfield display.

Well done boys. Let’s keep playing this type of football.

Birthday greetings today to Khaled Zureiqi … and Man City won Khaled!

Two goals from Alfie Glendinning saw us to a best of three goals victory to get our Saturday going again after the depressing lockdowns

Match summary by Grant Turner

BG U14s played Park Farm today. Both teams observed a minutes silence before the game.  BG fought hard against our old friends but by half time BG U14s found themselves 2-0 down.

We kept fighting hard in the second half and had a couple of chances. Xander scored a wonderful goal putting the ball in the top right corner. Unfortunately this was a consolation goal and Park Farm ran out 5-1 winners. New player Kayci had a good game and is settling in nicely. PoM as chosen by Park Farm was Hozan.
