The Saturday Seniors came up against a very tough battling Lydd Town 3rds, but scored 10 in the league Cup.
Match report from Brian:
Bromley green started the game well and dominated the game and had two goals disallowed in the first 10 minutes which I saw nothing wrong with but referee said not goals.
Then straight after we scored again and it counted then we add to that a few minutes after then Lydd had a player sent off and by half time we was 5-0 up.
Second half we started as we did in the first half and continue to score the final score was we won 10-0
Scorers were: Mike Halpin, Tommy Hilden, Mickey Mabb 3, Luke Couper, Matt Jarvis, Jake Edwards, Dan Churchley 2
The Saturday Reserves were not so lucky after being outplayed by Smeeth & Brabourne, going down 9-1 with Alfie Turner getting the lone goal for the Green.
Match report from Alex:
BG res started the season full of optimism after encouraging displays in preseason. The game didn’t quite go to plan and the Green found themselves on the end of a thumping by a team who will likely win the league comfortably.
Without talking to much about the goals and being too negative, most of the finishes were from distance and into the corners of the goal or from arrow like long throws that were constantly causing havoc.
Green can take positives with Alfie Turner scoring his first league goal for the club and no one in the side has lost heart and battled as well as we could against a slick, fast youthful Smeeth side.
Green could have scored more missing a few number of well crafted guilt edge opportunities to lessen the score-line. Season starts again on Saturday and we hope for a reaction to our opening day defeat.
The whole side will learn from this and as a group we have written the result off as a bad day in the office against a very good side.
