‘One in a million’ football stalwart passes away

Sad news has reached us from Linda Jane that Gladys Hover passed away over the weekend. ‘Glad’ was an example of hard graft and moral standards to many of us when we were younger. Her work, alongside husband Des, who departed October six years ago, on behalf of Kingsnorth Youth Club, Bromley Green FC and the old Ashford Town FC Supporters Club evokes many memories. There was always a welcome at the Farm Stores. ‘Glad’ was one in a million and our love and condolences are offered to my old mate David and all the family. RIP dear ‘Glad’ and, on behalf of all of us that benefitted from your kindness, thank you for everything. DH

11 May 1969 Charity match opposite the Farm Stores. The caravan tilted when one stepped in to get changed … and watch out for the cow pats! Days when football was fun without all the political and jobsworth crap involved now. Dave Hover is front row, far left. From the back left Tony Crumbie, Alan Burden, Dave Homewood, Graham Crumbie, Jimmy Barker, David McAnally. Front Dave Hover, David Jenkins, Peter Messenger, Micky Lukehurst, Terry Watson, Anthony Jenkins.

Under 18s please note there is no training tonight. There will be training at Waterside on Saturday at 10.30am as we have no game. From next week, we switch to the Julie Rose Stadium (6.30pm) on Mondays.

YES TONIGHT AT 6.30PM … EVERYBODY WELCOME
