Marc Collins reports on a happy U10s EKYL at South Road, Hythe
Our under 10s EKYL side travelled down to Hythe with 3 players missing for a midday ko in one of the few games to go ahead today .
Tony and myself were determined to get the group up for it in the warm-up after a sloppy start to the game against Margate last week; and the team responded brilliantly. From the 1st minute we had Hythe on the back foot with Brad just missing a touch on Bubba’s quality low cross from the right. It wasn’t long after when Bubba, who had a cracking game, drilled an unstoppable finish at the near post after great forward play from Brad .
Hythe then broke against the run of play and their winger hit an impressive drive in off the back post giving Cooper no chance. Great link up play between Daniel, Kai and Brad saw Brad finish off a good move to see us 2-1 up at the break .
We warned at half time that we threw away a half lead to Hythe earlier in the season so couldn’t afford to drop off.
It was the complete opposite this time round as the Green put on a devastating 2nd half performance, smashing in another 6 goals while Hythe barely got out of their half. 2 more for Brad for his hat-trick, great finish from Kobi and a stunning 2nd half hat-trick from PoM Daniel V who was really in the mood today with a class performance all over the pitch. Noah too deserves a special mention with his best performance of the season – hardly putting a foot wrong and unlucky not to get on the scoresheet himself .
