Emeralds entertaining game with the Bourne

Good afternoon, Dave
The result from today’s match BG Emeralds 0 – 2 Sittingbourne Ladies
Player of the match Ruby Lambourn
Today we put on our best performance yet against Sittingbourne Ladies U12s, an established team in the top half of the league.
Both teams started strong and we held our own throughout the first half. The team seemed their most confident yet and we played a more attacking game than defensive. The score at half time was 0-0.
We came out in the second half just as strong but unfortunately 8 minutes into the second half the opposition was awarded a penalty due to an accidental hand ball and scored. But Alycia our goalkeeper made some fantastic saves in both halves.
The girls picked themselves up and carried on with the same determination and we had a few good shots on goal by Catalina and Ruby L but could not defeat the Sittingbourne goalkeeper. Towards the last 15 minutes of the game the opposition scored a second goal, with the final score being 2-0 to Sittingbourne.
We had two players making their debut games with the team, Hollie and Julia. Both put on strong performances matching the rest of the team. Well done girls, the progression made by you all this season is so evident in the game played today and let’s go on to next week’s away game with the same determination.
Player of the match is Ruby L picked by both the opposition teams coach and myself for her strong performance.
Regards Simon
Hawkins double as DNS win 5-goal thriller at Waterside
Terrific three points for the reserves today with a 3-2 victory over visitors Singleton Barn. On target were Kieran Hawkins with a double and an own goal.
Birthday greetings Sunday to Aiden Branch and Benn Phillips
Learning curve for the impressive EKYL Under 10s: Marc Collins reports

A great game today at Waterside versus a decent Herne Bay outfit. Despite the impressive Bubba creating many openings, the 1st half finished goalless. 2nd half saw us put on more pressure and Brad broke the deadlock after brilliant gritty wing play from PoM Roman down the right. Herne Bay never gave up, and we were made to regret missing numerous chances to put the game out of reach when Herne Bay were awarded a penalty which was converted; closely followed by another goal for the visitors all in the last five minutes to snatch the game from us. Really difficult one to take for the kids who were all excellent for 45 mins out of the 50 mins played. However, these are the kind of games we need as a team to learn from and improve going forward.
Happy birthday on Saturday to Executive member Michelle Edwards and ex-Green Mark Leahy
Good luck and enjoyment this weekend everyone. For the full fixture schedule, please refer to the 2022 Events & Fixtures Page. Sapphires training at 2pm Saturday at Waterside.
South Willesborough Rangers 6-2 Bromley Green Reserves
Lost 6-2 Player of the Match Kyle Saunders. Our goals came from Richard Banda direct free kick 4-1 at half time. Prince pulled one back to give us hope making it 4-2 but then we just couldn’t get back into it. Alex

Green miss out in U16 title battle
Not the outcome we wanted as the Skoda Caffyns U16s went down 3-1 at title rivals Otford. Our goal was provided by Ollie Batkin with George Mason the Green Player of the Match.
Congratulations Daniel! Report from Avery Builders Manager David Bridge

David Bridge on “Another great performance”
A great performance today from the Avery Builders team on a muddy pitch to continue our good start since Xmas. We began really well on the front foot; passing the ball around and deservedly taking the lead. The boys continued to press and didn’t let their heads drop when pegged back against the run of play before half time.
Second half we really kept our shape and managed to get back on top. Some well taken goals and a great performance. An outstanding performance from Pilgrim’s keeper prevented further goals.
PoM was hard today – some great displays at the back and midfield keeping our shape. However, Daniel was outstanding down the left attacking and defending. Congratulations Dan and a great beginning to our re-started league.
Happy Martyn Smith reports from Waterside
Very cold morning with a 9am ko we welcomed Ashford United Yellow. We came out flying as normal with 3 quick goals from Yassis, Lenny and James. Good passing movement, great overlapping runs from our wing backs Brad and Harrison and Joe solid and demanding as always. In the second half, we eased off slightly but Lenny scored again. We also hit the bar twice from free kicks by Lenny and Tyler. All round good result. Up the DJB Greens. Final result 5-1 with the PoM accolade going to Jake Fuller.

No doubting Thomas – our first Player of the Match today for happy Tigers
