Sad message from Ian Dimmock
Great sadness to announce the passing of Folkestone Legend ‘Curly’ Russell. aged 80. A well-known and liked all round sportsman in the Folkestone area. Played cricket for Hawkinge for many years and had a long career in football with clubs such as Eastcliffe, Valebrook, British Lion, Saltwood. Curly had spells at Folkestone Town/Invicta as player, manager and coach. Played for several seasons for Deal Town in early 60’s, reserves and 1st manager at Hythe Town 1980/82. Also worked as a scout for West Ham. Another great character and legend taken from the wonderful game. RIP Curly.
Monday birthday greetings to Dan Vidler, Billy Baker, Aaron Kelly, Tyler Dobbin, Oliver Mika and Oliver McRobert
Executive Committee Meeting tonight 6.30pm
Big thank you to David Bridge for organising the mini tournament on Saturday. In front of a good-sized crowd, worthy winners were his own U11 Avery Builders. Good experience for the four competing Green teams and some thrilling penalty shoot-outs.
David is also organising another round robin for 23 July (11-2) involving the Avery Builders, Letts Decorate and two sides from Folkestone Invicta
Terrific display by the Green U9s sponsored by Moore’s Cars and Commercials – finishing winners of the Plate Cup at Larkfield. Well done everyone!
Under 10 Tigers please manager
What a morning for the Tigers U10s. Their first real experience of 9-a-side and they showed no fear against teams older and more progressed than them . Yes they lost their first 2 games but fought the whole time and showed the crowds their character.
Our final match against the Colts was again a very close game as they have been before, with a 1-1 draw, which the Tigers came from behind to level up before the final whistle. This time the shoot-out went our way and the Tigers took home the victory. Truly proud of every single player today. And they are proud of themselves as they all put in heroics at times, pushed their personal limits and achieved a result together as a team, The future looks so bright for next season. We have no fear.
Goals from MJ, Oscar, Harrison (pen) and Player of the Match Liam Fritz accounted for our visitors this afternoon. Good workout for the boys against a team from a higher division with Preston and Connor outstanding with their defensive work for the Green.
Birthday greetings today to Luke Burdon

David Bridge reports from the Marsh Academy
Gorgeous Thursday night out in the sunshine and great performance from the team away at Grasshoppers. Team played some great football to watch with one-two touches with one move from back to front nearly resulting in goal of season.
Apologise as lost count of score (think it was 9-1) and who scored but was most pleased with the way the boys continued to play football and didn’t all charge forward to score. We are working hard on the discipline, holding position, pushing a high line and it’s hard work for defenders but pleasing listening. PoM was hard with some good performances from goalkeeper to striker. Harli bagging a hat-rick and still not getting PoM. No apologies but both coaches sons shared PoM today – thought at times their wing play was awesome. Well played Thomas and Jenson but a really pleasing all round performance.
