Bromley Green Thirds 2-2 Bethersden
Report by Gary Penfold
This evening our visitors to Waterside were Bethersden. This was our last game of the current season and we started the game well with plenty of attacks but against the run of play we found ourselves 1-0 down. But as we have done all season we battled on and soon got our reward when Gary Penfold Jnr crossed from the left to find the head of Kieran Shrimpton who glanced the header into the goal to put us back on level terms making the score 1-1 at h/t. With the 2nd half under way we seemed to switch off at the back letting the visitors take the lead and seemed as though we was going to finish the season with a defeat until in the dying seconds keeper Tom Moon went up for a corner and nearly got his head to the cross but it fell to the feet of Elliott Holewell who just hit it to make the final score 2-2 to end this great season with a draw. This season the youngsters have showed some great spirit and have achieved so much finishing 4th in the league and making the semi final of the league cup we’ve also had 2 u16s Ryan Ford and Harry Mansfield stepping up to senior football and showing what a great future they have to come in a Green shirt. Myself and Lee cannot praise these youngsters enough with the spirit and what they have achieved this season. WELL DONE LADS!

Riverside Inn 2-4 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we were away to Riverside Inn which was possibly our last game of the season. We got off to a good start when Ryan Prior ran onto a through ball to put us 1-0 up but our lead didn’t last for long when goalie Tom Moon was beaten by a fine strike just inside our own half which he had no chance of saving. We soon took the lead again when Tom Collins latched onto a through ball from Gary Penfold Jnr to put us 2-1 up. Then we went 3-1 ahead when, after Miles Christian saw his 1st shot saved and his 2nd shot hit the bar, only to fall to top scorer for this season Ryan Prior to make it 3-1 to the Green at h/t. With the 2nd half under way we seemed to take our foot off the gas by giving the home side a slight hope when they scored to make it 3-2 before Joe Plumbridge made it 4-2 to the Greens with a strike just inside the opposition’s half to lob the home side’s keeper with a goal that is decently in contention for goal of the season. Final score 4-2 the young Greens. Mom Harry Mansfield.

Bromley Green Thirds 9-1 Smarden
Report by Gary Penfold
Tonight our visitors to Waterside were title contenders Smarden. We started off really well but against the run of play conceded an early goal. But credit to the youngsters who never gave up and were soon on level terms with a goal from Tom Collins. Shortly afterwars we were 2-1up when Ryan Prior added to his goal tally for this season.
Then some good play down the right and a cross from right back Kieran Shrimpton was headed in by their own defender making it 3-1 then a fine strike from Conner Gower made it 4-1 at h/t.
With the 2nd half under way we kept the momentum going and soon Tom Collins scored his second of the game making it 5-1. A tap in from Luke Stanley made it 6-1 then good pressure from Ryan Prior made it 7-1 then Miles Christian made it 8-1. The visitors soon found themselves 9-1 down when 16 year old Ryan Ford hit a fine strike to make the final score 9-1 to the Green. With just 1 game left of this campaign the youngsters have really showed what a fine prospect and future they have with the club. Myself and Lee cannot praise these young players enough this season and it has been great watching them grow in each game. Well done lads on a fine season …  let’s hope we can take this run of form into our last game.

Bromley Green Thirds 3-2 The Woolpack
Gary Penfold reports from Waterside

Tonight our visitors to Waterside were The Woolpack. We got off to a bit of a shaky start but soon settled an it was not long before we took the lead with a fine strike from Gary Penfold Jnr to put us 1-0 up and we soon found ourselves 2-0 up with a follow-up run from right back Nathan Stevens.  Then just before h/t Gary Jnr got his 2nd putting us 3-0 up at h/t. With the 2nd half under way we carried on from where we left off from the 1st half when Gary Jnr thought he got his hat trick only to be ruled offside. We appeared to be looking comfortable until our defence seemed to go to sleep to let the visitors score then with a goal that seemed to be offside they got another making it 3-2 to set up a very nervous 10 mins. But we managed to hold on to the end making a final score 3-2 to the Greens. Great performance again from the youngsters who just seem to be growing stronger and better each game. Mom Gary Penfold Jnr. Goals Gary Penfold Jnr 2, Nathan Stevens 1.

Rolvenden 6-0 Bromley Green Thirds
Gary Penfold reports from Gatefield
Today we was away to Rolvendon with the wind not helping both teams play the football they can we started off really well with the wind behind us and not really using it to our advantage we had a couple of good chances to take the lead 1 from Ryan Prior and a free kick from Gary Penfold Jnr which went just over but the home team also missed some good chances which led us to believe this could be our day. But it wasn’t long till Rolvendon took the lead with a goal which was clearly offside but the ref over ruled pto ut the home side 1-0 up. Ewan Stanley had a great chance to equalise only his effort was more like a pass back than a shot! With the 2nd half under way the home side really used the wind to their advantage and showed why they are title contenders full time score Rolvendon 6 Greens 0. Mom Ollie Perkins

Bromley Green Thirds 3-0 Aldington
Lee McRobert reports from Waterside
A glorious day at Waterside, perfect for football, saw us return to winning ways after the midweek loss to Golden Arrow. As usual we started on the front foot, playing some good football, but at times it was too slow and in the wrong areas. Two chances missed in the first 5 minutes by Gary Penfold Jnr and Kieran Shrimpton followed by Ryan Prior missing a ‘sitter’ were one of many chances in the 1st half which somehow finished 0-0. Aldington also had a few chances themselves. The 2nd half started pretty much the same as the 1st, Kieran Shrimpton having an effort cleared off the line, Gary Penfold Jnr hitting the bar from 5 yards, it looked like one of those days! Until youngster Ryan Ford scored with a great finish, then a good cross from Joe fell to Shrimp who tapped in the goal his efforts deserved. Finally with the last kick of the game Ewan Stanley netted to make the final score 3-0. The effort from all involved was superb throughout. Man of the match was given to either Luke Stanley or the bloke in the ORANGE boots (Gary Penfold Jnr).

Bromley Green 0-2 Brewmaster
Report by Paul Grindley
A very close fought game at Waterside where a very young Bromley Green held their own against one of the form teams. Both teams had chances to open the scoring but it was the Brews that took their chances and went into a 2 goal lead but we kept battling away and missed a penalty and a few other chances. Good debuts for Ben Barrett, Miles Christian, Connor Robbins but couldn’t fault any of the team for their efforts and I’m sure success is not far away.  Bad news was a groin injury to Dane Rollings but the good news is that we added Gary Penfold Jnr to the squad.

Bromley Green Thirds 12-0 Lydd United
Lee McRobert reports
Lydd United were the visitors to Waterside today, and with Gary “the gaffer” Penfold away, trying to attract top European talent to Bromley Green, it was left to right hand man Lee McRobert to pick the side. After Wednesday’s great win away at Wanderers, the team pretty much picked itself, the only changes coming in were Joe Plumridge and Ollie Perkins. We started off very well and were 4-0 up within 20 mins, a hat-trick from Gary Penfold Jnr and one from Tom Collins. There were plenty more opportunities to increase the lead before Tom Collins got his 2nd and this was quickly followed by a great run and individual goal from Ryan Prior. Tom Collins then added 2 more, the latter coming from a great through ball from Miles Christian. 8 goals before half time and we were presented with a great opportunity to make it 9 after Tom Collins was brought down in the box, maybe Gary Penfold Jnr didn’t want to be greedy and add to his hat-trick as his penalty was saved! So 8-0 and half time and U16s Ryan Ford and Harry Mansfield were brought on with Ewan Stanley, and it wasn’t long before Ryan Ford neatly finished off after some great play from Ryan Prior, before Ryan Prior added his 2nd goal, after this there was the MISS OF THE SEASON from Tom Collins who managed to scoop over the ball from 1 (one) yard. But this wasn’t to hamper him as he added 2 more taking his total to 6 for the game. The back 4 of Joe Plumridge,Lee Hagger,Elliott Holewell and Connor Robbins were hardly troubled and we didn’t get to see Tom Moon shank one into touch. Ollie Perkins and Luke Stanley were the driving force in midfield in which turned out to be a comfortable afternoon for a change!

The Wanderers 1-6 Bromley Green Thirds
Gary Penfold reports from South Road, Hythe
Tonight we were in league action away to The Wanderers who, in our first fixture, beat us 4-0. We started off really well and in the 1st minute  Ryan Prior latched on to a follow up shot to put us 1-0 up which is a rare for us because we normally go a goal down before we start playing. With our tails up and pushing for a second, this didn’t take long as Miles Christian struck a fine shot to put us 2-0 up. Tom Collins added a 3rd to put us 3-0 up and with h/t approaching we defended too deep on a free kick which gave the home side a glimmer of hope. With the 2nd half under way we made a few changes bringing young Connor Gower into centre midfield. With us still pushing for more goals Ryan Prior scored his 2nd of the game to put us 4-1 up; Kieran Shrimpton crossed from the right on for their defender to put it into his own goal to make it 5-1. The home side pushed a bit harder but our defence was looking solid and determined not to concede any more with Luke Parsonage bossing his fellow defenders. Ewan Stanley followed up a save from the keeper to round it off to 6-1 to the Greens who produced an excellent performance all round and earned a well deserved victory. Scorers: Ryan Prior 2, Tom Collins 1, Miles Christian 1, Ewan Stanley 1, own goal. Mom Luke Parsonage.

Bromley Green Thirds 3-2 Willesborough Athletic
Gary Penfold reports from Waterside
Today was a local derby with our visitors Willesborough Athletic. We started off well keeping the ball with a lot of possession but just could not seem to find the back of the net. With 20mins left in the first half our visitors split our defence and slotted the ball home to take the lead against the run of play but their lead didn’t last when Tom Collins got us back on level terms. Then from a corner Luke Parsonage headed back across goal to find Elliott Holewell who stuck the ball in the net to make it 2-1 at h/t. The second half got under way with the midfield for both teams enjoying a good hard feisty battle. The visitors won a corner and once again we got punished for not picking up our markers and with the score at 2-2 the visitors must have thought they had taken the lead until keeper TOM MOON pulled off a great save with his leg to keep the score even. With 10 mins left on the clock substitute Ewan Stanley played a through ball to which Gary Penfold Jnr rounded the keeper and slotted into a empty net to make it 3-2 to the Greens. Unfortantley the game took an ugly turn in injury time which saw each side having a player sent off. Well done lads on a superb performance lets hope we can take this fighting spirit into Tuesday night’s away fixture. Goal scorers TOM COLLINS ELLIOTT HOLEWELL GARY PENFOLD JNR….MOM Gary PENFOLD JNR.

The Woolpack 2-2 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Tonight we were in league action away to The Woolpack. With a few absentees from our regular squad we still had a good side out and we started out really well keeping the ball. Having to battle hard in midfield and looking good out on the wings, with 25mins gone we took the lead through Gary Penfold Junior which meant at h/t we led 1-0. With the 2nd half under way and the battle in midfield being hard we still pressed trying to get the 2nd goal and it wasn’t long coming with some good pressure from Ollie Perkins who stole the ball and stayed strong to press for goal and was unlucky not to score himself but it was Ryan Prior who forced the ball home to put us 2-0 up. With 15 mins to go the home side pulled 1 back and with just mins left on the clock a penalty was conceded by Martyn Dalby for handball but the ball seemed to be out of touch with the penalty scored making a final score 2-2. All the youngsters showed good grit and determination in a well hard fought battle and a fantastic team performance. Mom Gary Penfold Junior

Bromley Green Reserves 3-1 Kennington Reserves
Martyn Dalby reports from Waterside
We started off slowly, were under pressure for most of first half but created 3 or 4 chances in first half. But it didn’t seem to be our day and then we went 1-0 down  via former Green forward Darren Brown. This was against the run off play and we switched it around a bit and was putting the pressure on with Connor Gower controlling the midfield. Then, as so often happens, we were hit on the break and our visitors were awarded a cheap penalty. However, Caleb made a top draw save and after that we had more chances and finally we scored though Kieran Shrimpton.  Then Steve Wakam was in the right place to tap it in for 2-1 and under pressure from Kennington we got a free kick about 20 yards and Connor Gower stepped up and smashed it in the left hand corner to seal the win and 3 points.  Great win boys. Man of the Match: Caleb Saylor.

Lydd Town A 1-4 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we returned to league action away to Lydd Town 3rds. We started the game with plenty of good possession but just could not find the back of the net … it seemed like it was going to be one of those days! Then, the veteran Lee McRobert playing left back fooled the Lydd keeper with a free kick into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 to us and it wasn’t long till we was 2-0 up just before the break from Gary Penfold Jnr. With the second half under way and more attempts on the Lydd goal, in typical style we messed up at the back again giving the the home side a slight foot back in the game until Gary Penfold Jnr got his 2nd to make or 3-1.  Shortly after it was all over as Gary Penfold Jnr completed his hat trick … making the final score 4-1 to Bromley Green.

Ashford & District League Cup semi-final
Bromley Green Thirds 2-3 Metro (aet)
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we was in semi final action against Metro at Homelands. With an early morning kick off we started off the game very poor and at times seemed like we was still in bed and it wasn’t long before we conceded a goal as we seemed to give our visitors too much respect in the midfield h/t 0-1. With the second half under way we seemed to wake up and started to get the ball down and play football but against the run of play we was 2-0 down. We soon pulled 1 back with a finely struck free kick from Gary Penfold jnr which flew in the top corner and we were soon back on level terms when Ashley Webster was brought down in the box for a penalty which skipper Dane Rollings coolly tucked away to make the score 2-2 and taking the game to extra time. Ryan Prior was unfortunate not to score as he dribbled through the Metro defence but just could not get the ball out of his feet to shoot. In the 2nd half of extra time Metro had a penalty hit the post leaving us thinking it could be our day but Metro scored after some poor defending with 1 min to go taking them into the final … 2-3 MoM Martyn Dalby.

Bromley Green Thirds 3-1 Rolvenden
Report by Gary Penfold
Today our visitors to Waterside were Rolvenden. With a late kick off due to no referee, luckily young and up an coming ref Lewis Bagshaw stepped in to help us. With the game under way on a very bumpy pitch we were on top from the first whistle with a couple of good chances early on from Tom Collins it wasn’t long till we took the lead; with a good flick on from Collins and a great strike from Gary Penfold jnr. Gary Penfold jnr should have made it 2-0 but seemed to have too much time and hit his effort straight at the keeper.
A very poor challenge on keeper Tom Moon forced us into an unwanted substitution and it was down to the veteran Lee McRobert to go between the sticks to add goalkeeper to his bow in his long career. Collins showed great strength up front and was through on goal only to be brought down to earn us a penalty which skipper Dane Rollings slotted home to make it 2-0 to the Green at h/t. With the 2nd half under way, we started how we finished the 1st with lots of possession and everyone doing their job especially in midfield and it wasn’t long till we had Rolvenden on the back foot and Tom Collins making the most of a mishap in the visitors defence to put us 3-0 up with 10 mins to go and with Rolvenden really pushing our defence. But Harry Mansfield and Lee Hagger showed good strength at the back and with the visitors pushing it was a handball from a cross that gave them a goal to deny stand in keeper Lee McRobert keeping his clean sheet. Goal scorers were Gary Penfold jnr,Dane Rollings  and Tom Collins. MoM Harry Mansfield.

Report by Gary Penfold
Today our visitors were Tenterden Reserves and once again we started off poorly by giving them a 2-0 lead before we started to play the football we can even though the playing surface was bumpy. Tom Collins pulled on back showing good strength and pace up front and it wasn’t long till we was back on level terms with a goal from Ashley Webster to make the score 2-2 at half time. 2nd half under way we found ourselves 3-2 down after more poor defending to make the final score bg 2 tenterden reserves 3. Faversham Charity Cup
Bromley Green Thirds 3-5 Betteshanger
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we welcomed Betteshanger from the Canterbury League for our 1st round tie in the Faversham Charity Cup. With a lot of games being cancelled due to the bad weather we have had recently it really showed in our performance today. We started really slowly and once again with some sloppy defending we went 1-0 down then after 20mins gone Luke Parsonage gave away a penalty with a clear push in the area to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. Ollie Perkins got us a goal back with a fine strike to make it 2-1 at h/t. With the 2nd half under way a short back pass left Tom Moon with no choice but to bring the striker down to gift the visitors with a 2nd penalty which was converted to make it 3-1 to Betteshanger. Not long after we had a free kick which Ollie Perkins struck to get himself a brace but more poor defending gave the visitors 2 more goals before a late strike from Ashley Webster made the final score 5-3 to Betteshanger. Mom Ryan Ford. Goal scorers: Ollie Perkins 2,Ashley Webster 1.

You could tell that we had not played for a while with the home starting strongly on the Sittingbourne 3G but our defence and keeper Caleb did their jobs and we scored the first goal through Steve Wakam. Steve also hit a post but we conceded a sloppy goal and in the end were happy to settle for a good away point.

Metro 2-3 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we were away to Metro in our first league game since the Xmas break and all the heavy rain we have all had to put up with during this past couple of months. We looked a little rusty and lack of games showing with us playing a lot of football in our own half and a lack in concentration at the back allowed Metro to take the lead and it wasn’t long till we went 2-0 down at h/t. With the 2nd half under way we started to put up a bit of fight and should have pulled one back but Ryan Prior needed too many touches instead of getting his shot away. With the introduction of Ashley Webster and the veteran Lee McRobert to steady the ship in midfield, it wasn’t long till McRobert pulled us a goal back with a fine strike just inside the 18 yard box. Soon we were back on level terms with Ashley Webster adding to his huge scoring tally in his beloved Bromley Green shirt. With the cracks starting to show at the back for Metro and some clumsy defending in the box which brought down Ryan Prior for a penalty to us, it was tip scorer Prior himself who stepped up to slot the ball into the bottom corner to give us Greens a 3-2 win. Well done lads for a great performance today. MoM Tom Moon.

Riverside Inn 1-2 Bromley Green Thirds
By Gary Penfold
Today we was away on the Stanhope 3G to Riverside Inn in the 1st round of the League Cup, finally getting to play some football after the Xmas period and bad weather. From the start we showed some good positive football with once again young Ryan Ford not looking out of place with only his second game in senior football showing good signs not just going forward but also defensively.  We took the lead with a fine strike from Ollie Perkins putting us 1-0 up within 10 minutes and with some good work from Miles Christian, Ashley Webster thought he had added to his tally in a Green shirt only for it to be ruled offside. But on the 20 minute mark we lost the experience of Robbie Richardson who had to come off through injury forcing a re-shuffle at the back but we went in at h/t 1-0. With the second half under way and a change in formation with once again some sloppy defending we let the home side back in 1-1 with us not taking the chances in front of goal. A blatant handball somehow went unpunished as we pushed forward but after some good play down the left it was top scorer Ryan Prior who put us through to the next round to make the final score 2-1 to the Green. Ollie Perkins 1, Ryan Prior 1. MoM: Tom Moon.

Bromley Green Thirds 4-2 Riverside Inn
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we welcomed Riverside Inn to Waterside for our first home game this month. We started off really well knocking the ball around; but against the run of play an a ball over the top converted by Dale Horton put us behind. But still we battled on and after a goalmouth scrabble it fell to top scorer Ryan Prior to put us back on level terms but not for long as another bit of poor defending let Riverside back in front 2-1 as Guy Farmer fired home. With 5 minutes to go before half time skipper Dane Rollings smashed a shot hard and low from outside the box to put us back level at 2-2.
After the break we made a couple of changes and welcomed Ashley Webster back in a Green shirt after along injury. With us having a lot of possession in the 2nd half Ashley nearly made his mark on the game but his effort just didn’t have the legs to find the net to add to his Green tally. Ollie Perkins came close with a strike that was hit straight at the keeper and with Ewan Stanley putting a chance wide it didn’t seem to be our day until top scorer Ryan Prior added two more to his goal tally to walk away with a hat trick and make the final score 4-2 to us. Mom: Tom Moon. Ryan Prior 3, Dane Rollings 1.

Smarden 1-1 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we was away to top of the table Smarden and hoping to get back to winning ways. The game started off well with us having a lot of the play and we were unlucky not to be in front when Bekim Ahmetaj put his shot just wide. Then against the run of play we fell behind with a goal that looked very much offside. With the pitch not letting us play the good football we have been producing, we had another unlucky shot cleared off the line and was beginning to think it’s not going to be our day. H/t 1-0. With the second half under way we kept pressing and finally netted the equaliser with a great volley from top goal scorer Ryan Prior. With 5 mins to go we get a penalty. Miles Christian grabbed the ball feeling confident on scoring only to see his penalty go wide leaving both teams settling for a point each final score 1-1. Ryan Prior 1. Mom new signing Luke Stanley.

Kent Junior Cup Group B
Kings Hill 7-0 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we travelled to Kings Hill in the Kent Junior Cup and, with a lot of players missing due to work, we went with a slightly under-strength squad. Perhaps we knew it just wasn’t going to be our day when stand-in keeper Martyn Dalby shut his fingers in a door in the morning!
So we had to go with non-keeper Josh Ahmad in goal. We started off well, playing good football considering the weather, and was under a bit of pressure with Josh making a few good saves to start with. But by half time we found ourselves 3-0 down.
Just knew it wasn’t our day when shortly after half time Miles Christian hit the bar then Ryan Prior had a goal disallowed for a dodgy off side. So we went out of the County Cup with a defeat of 7-0 but credit to the lads that did their best. Mom Ewan Stanley.

Bromley Green 4-5 Market Hotel
Report by Dave Homewood

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

After showing great courage to come back from 4-2 behind, a last kick winner from Paul Mabb was somewhat cruel on the young Green boys … but overall the visitors deserved to take the maximum points from yet another action-packed Old Firm game at Waterside.
In the end, it was defensive mistakes punished by fine finishing that settled the affair. Mitchel Mannell gave the Green an early lead, Tom Collins fired in an equaliser and it was all square at 1-1 by half time. Mabb and Steve Ward (2), Mannell twice for the Green plus a follow-up by Steve Wakam and it seemed that a 4-4 was the outcome … then came Mabb’s last-ditch strike.
Despite defeat, a good learning experience for some of the home youngsters with Mannell always dangerous and Pat Irankunda impressive with his handling in goal. Outstanding for the Market was midfielder Ryan Smith.

Lydd United 3-2 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we travelled to face Lydd United and, as often is the case on The Rype, the weather wasn’t kind to both teams playing down that way with the wind blowing a gale. We started well, playing some good football, and it wasn’t long till top scorer Ryan Prior had the goal in his sights but unfortunately couldn’t find the target. With a lot of hussle and bustle in midfield it wasn’t long till we got the break through with Ollie Perkins going on a run and breaking the deadlock just before h/t to put us 1-0 up at the break.
With the 2nd half under way, and the wind now against us, we seemed to come under pressure and a few good saves from stand-in keeper Patrick Irankunda were needed to keep our lead. It wasn’t long till the home side got level making it 1-1. Luckily for us we kept our nerve and still played the good football that we can with Dane Rollings bossing the midfield.  Ewan Stanley found the net to put us 2-1 up but with 5 mins to go the home side levelled and then with the last kick of the game a fine shot from their Mom Brad Godden beat Patrick to fly in off the post and into the net to make it a final score of 3-2 to the home side. Goalscorers: Ollie Perkins 1 Ewan Stanley 1. Mom: Dane Rollings.

Faversham Charity Cup
UK Staff 2-3 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we were away to UKC Staff in the Faversham Charity Cup and the game started off really well with us having a lot of good possession and creating a number of good chances. It wasn’t long before we nearly broke the deadlock but unfortunately Luke Parsonage missed a sitter on his debut. However, it wasn’t long until we did open up the scoring through Miles Christian with a well taken goal to make the score at h/t 1-0 to the Green.
With the second half under way we keep up the good work from the 1st half with plenty of good football which at times was like watching a premiership team and Miles added to his tally with a second to put us 2-0 up. After a bit of sloppy defending from Bekim Ahmetaj had let the home side back into the game, Ewan Stanley popped up to add a third for us before yet another mix-up at the back between keeper Tom Moon an defender Byron Price gifted the home side hope. But we held on through to the next round with the final score 3-2 to us. Miles Christian (2), Ewan Stanley (1). MoM Ollie Perkins.

Bromley Green 3-2 Mersham
Whilst we really should have sewn this game up in the first half, all credit to Mersham who started to knock the ball about impressively and could well have stolen an equaliser near the end. As it was, first half goals by Dane Rollings and David Peters gave the Green a 2-0 interval advantage and when Peters broke down the left to guide home the third it looked all over bar the shouting. However, the introduction of substitute Ewan Stanley gave the visitors a wide outlet and they rallied via veteran Colin Burnikell and Luke Stanley. Reece Hagger and Liam Walsh were again immaculate at the back as the Green move up to second in the table and look forward to next Sunday’s trip to champions Bethersden.

White H0rse 5-4 Bromley Green Reserves
Report by Donna Hagger
Up until half time the Green boys struggled on the 3G pitch and trailed 3-1 but then a change of formation to 3-5-2 on the narrow playing surface saw us come back to 3-3. With White Horse having a man sent off, we looked set for a great win but after going 4-3 in front we changed formation again to 4-4-2 and ended up going out of the cup 5-4. Our scorers were Steve Wakam (2), Tommy Lockett and Marcin Kulpecsza.

Bromley Green Thirds 2-1 Golden Arrow Reserves
Report by Gary Penfold
Today our visitors were Golden Arrow Reserves and with a good win last week we were hoping to follow it up with a win today. With the conditions ideal for football we started off well with Dane Rollings putting himself about in the holding roll with a lot of good football being played it didn’t take long for us to go 1-0 up with a good run from Lee Hagger busting from the back played a through ball to Ewan Stanley who pulled the ball back for top scorer Ryan Prior to keep his record of scoring in every game so far to give us a h/t lead. With the second half under way we seemed to lose our shape a bit losing a lot of possession in midfield and with a sloppy pass by Bekim Ahmetaj let the visitors back in to level the score 1-1. With Ollie Perkins holding his hamstring we decided to make a change and it wasn’t long before the much traveled veteran Lee McRobert made an impact on the game with a free kick which forced the keeper into a fine save. After some good work in midfield the ball fell to McRobert who made a run clear into the box and not trusting his right foot squared the ball to Bekim Ahmetaj to make up for his earlier mistake to make the final score 2-1 to us. Ryan Prior 1, Bekim Ahmetaj. Mom Dane Rollings.

Kent Junior Cup Group A
Leybourne Athletic 2-6 Bromley Green Reserves
Report by Donna Hagger
The Green second team, 2-0 up at half time, dominated this clean and sporting game played on the 3G at Wrotham from start to finish and now look forward to round two of the Kent Junior Cup.
Steve Wakam and Jordan Griffin both notched hat tricks while captain Reece Hagger and defender Martyn Dalby each had outstanding games.
Jason Thomas by the way found the only hole on the pitch and fell on his arse!
Bradley ran the line for 80 minutes before replacing the injured Ship.
Great camaraderie and a top class squad performance with Jordan Griffin getting man of the match.

Aldington 0-4 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we travelled to Aldington hoping to get back to winning ways with a change in formation to help bolster the midfield with a lot of possession. It wasn’t long till we went 1 nil up through top scorer Ryan prior and just before half time Ewan Stanley made it 2-0 to us after some brilliant build-up play involving Miles Christian.
After the break we changed back to 4-4-2 and brought on Dan Cornell for his first game back in a Green shirt for a while. With his experience and strength up front showing it wasn’t long till he got on the score sheet to make it 3-0 with a thumping header from Christian’s cross and just to round things off Bekim Ahmetaj took his chance superbly to make it 4-0 after a great through ball by Connor Gower. Well done to all the lads on a good all round performance. Fantastic displays from Elliott Holewell, Lee Hagger and Robbie Richardson but the man of the match this time round goes to Ewan Stanley.

Bromley Green Thirds 1-4 Metro
Report by Gary Penfold
Today’s visitors to Waterside was the newly formed Metro. Both teams started well and we was unlucky to go a goal down after 15mins with a shot that seemed to be cleared off the line but was clearly over. It wasn’t long till we were 2-0 down with h/t approaching. After the break we stared to get back into the game when a corner fell to Ryan Prior who struck a fine volley to get us back in the game to make it 2-1. Then just as we seemed to get back in the game we conceded a 3rd then we had to sub our keeper Tom Moon who made a fine save but got injured with a dead leg so outfield player Byron Price went in goal. they scored with a poor header to make the final score 4-1. Mom Connor Robbins.

Bromley Green Thirds 0-4 The Wanderers
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we welcomed The Wanderers to Waterside hoping to maintain our 100% league record. For the first 10 minutes we had some good possession play and had a couple of long range efforts at goal.  Then we went a goal down and shortly afterwards we were trailing by two goals. Still we carried the game to our visitors but it wasn’t long until we found ourselves 4-0 down at half time.
With the second half under way we started to play some good football, keeping the ball on the ground and playing some attractive football. The hard-working Miles Christian was unlucky with a long range lob which fooled the keeper but not the crossbar. So with our record gone let’s hope we can get back to winning ways next week. Man of the match was Connor Robbins.

Willesborough Athletic 1-3 Bromley Green Thirds
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we travelled away to new side Willesbrough Athletic and started off well with plenty of good possession and our two central midfielders Conner Gower an Ollie Perkins working well as a pair. Then just with 20mins left till h/t with some sloppy defending we go a goal down.
After the break we continued to enjoy most of the possession with Ewan Stanley making some good runs down the right and making their defence clear a ball to the edge of the box. The ball fell to Miles Christian who, with some clever foot work, got us back on level terms.
It wasn’t long before we took a 3-1 lead through Ryan Prior. The back four stayed solid with a great display from man of the match Elliot Holewell. So we have kept our 100% intact. Well done lads on another great performance. Goalscorers Miles Christian and Ryan Prior (2).

Bromley Green Thirds 4-1 Ruckinge United
Report by Gary Penfold
Today we entertained Ruckinge United at Waterside to try and maintain our 100% record. We got off to a bad start going a goal down after just 20 seconds with a strike that flew past Tom Moon who never had a chance of saving it. From the restart we soon got the ball on the floor and started to play some good football especially in midfield with Connor Gower having a lot of good touches and playing some good through balls to the front men and with just 2mins before h/t we got back on level terms thanks to Bekim Ahmetaj.
At half time we made a few changes and brought on the experienced Lee McRobert to help in midfield where we seemed to get out-muscled a lot in that area  and it wasn’t long till the veteran made his mark on the game with a great through ball to Ryan Prior to make it 2-1 to the Green. The game was killed off when Miles Christian kept his shooting boots hot with two goals, the second and final goal of the game being a cheeky lob over the keepers head, which kept our 100% record intact. Well done to all the lads on a well-earned hard three points. Goal scorers: Man of the match Bekim Ahmetaj, Ryan Prior, Miles Christian 2.

Ashford & District Sunday League Division One
Bromley Green Reserves 0-2 Charing Sunday
Report by Philip Wedge
Today we entertained Charing Sunday at Waterside and, looking to improve on last week’s defeat, I made one change with Craig Hodgson starting in place of Tyler Loosemore. We were very nervy at the start and soon went 1 down due to a lack of discipline at the back. But we soon found our feet and started playing to our strengths and were certainly the better team with our opponents having to resort to pulling and pushing – all of which seemed to have gone unnoticed by the official. With 15 minutes left a long kick by their keeper went unchallenged to lead to gift Charing their second. I can only take positives as the manager of such a young squad and I’m happy with the way my lads apply themselves. I’m sure it won’t be long before I start report on victories. Mom Miles Christian.

Bromley Green Thirds 13-2 Lydd Town A
Report by Gary Penfold
After a few ups and downs with pre-season the league fixtures finally got under way with our visitors being Lydd A. We got off to a good start with our first goal of the campaign coming from Miles Christian after a defence mix up let the visitors back in the game to make it 1-1 we then went 2-1 up with a goal from Ewan Stanley then the goals just kept coming and just before half time we went down to 10 men when Dane Rollings was sent off for violent conduct with the score 4-1 to us at h/t.
So we start the second half with 10 men and with another defence mix up we give them a bit of a lifeline with a goal then it was just one way traffice as we went on a goal fest with us 13-2 up. The skipper Martyn Dalby went up for a corner not being happy with a 13-2 lead head went in for a superb diving header only to be denied by a fine save from the visiting keeper … leaving a final result of 13-2 and man of the match being the whole TEAM! Well done lads on a superb performance. Goalscorers: Miles Christian (3), Ewan Stanley (3), Ryan Rrior (4), Martyn Dalby and Connor Robbins (2).

Bromley Green 2-4 Tyler Hill
Vets Classic
Report by Dave Homewood
A fantastic performance by the Green lads who pushed a strong Tyler Hill squad to the brink and indeed but for some squandered chances could well have gained a win.
However, the visitors were worthy victors in the end and joined in the socialising afterwards to round off a successful evening of commitment and camaraderie from both camps.
Gary Penfold and Damian Morse (pen) scored for the Green and it is hoped we can arrange some more matches to keep the fun going.
Thanks to Neil who officiated free of charge and a mention to all of the Green boys who gave everything for the shirt. Well done!
Green Vets: Philip Wedge, Steve Wilson, Andrew Charlton, Paul May, Mark Day, Mark Smith, Matthew Stanley, Ian Mace, Lee McRobert, Damian Morse, Steve Jeffery, Gary Penfold and Martin ‘The Beast’ Wirt.

Faversham Town Youth 2-2 Bromley Green Youth
Pre-season friendly
Report by Dave Homewood
Our Under 15s, with ‘guest players’ Harry and Ryan coming into the squad as we had six lads unavailable through injury or doing other things, put on a terrific display at Faversham in this sporting evening match.
Two points: (1) thanks to home manager Wayne Coveney who refereed very fairly and also (2) Dave Andrews and the parents who helped transport the players.
Faversham are a pleasure to play against with their attitude and approach to the game and, although we led 2-1 with only a few minutes remaining, on reflection a draw was about right.
The plan pre-season has always been to experiment and try different things … and I learned quite a bit about certain players from this entertaining contest [that was a little short on minutes due to an invasion of flying ants!]
Taking a while to settle, we went behind when punished for slack marking and losing possession too easily – a trait brought on by too many lads wanting to dwell on the ball rather than play the way they have been encouraged.
At half time, despite being behind, we were happy with our overall commitment and performance and, after a few glaring misses, Tom saw his effort drop in over the keeper’s head. During a purple patch we should have wrapped things up but at the other end last ditch saves from Louis kept us alive.
Sensing victory, a great shot from Brandon gave us the lead and in all honesty I thought we were going to nick the result. However, and all credit to them, Faversham kept playing football and deservedly levelled late on.
Full marks to all the squad who have a weekend off before meeting neighbours Kennington next Sunday afternoon.
Green: Louis Burton; Nathan Thorpe, Charlie Reay, Kieran Wilson, Harry Mansfield, Luke Bryant, Max May, Alfie Hills, Ryan Ford, Amir Zureiqi, Brandon Bourne, Tom Messenger, Mazlum Aydin, Reece Chapman

Star United 3-0 Bromley Green
Report by Richie Moore
Today we travelled up to Maidstone to face a very strong Star United who have recently beaten Ashford Sunday League champions Bethersden, so we were under no illusion that this would prove to be a tough game.
I am not actually going to produce much of a report for this. Those that made the effort to be there will know the effort and desire we demonstrated. Those that want to nose whilst being elsewhere or basically decide to play for other teams can do so and won’t have to worry about lack of content here.
Today was a great display by a team of mostly youngsters …  well done to those involved and credit to them for sticking to it and having some desire.

Friendly
Bromley Green Thirds 1-3 Dayspring CC
Report by Gary Penfold
Well after some ups and downs the Saturday 3rds finally got under way with a pre-season friendly against Dayspring at Waterside. For most of the lads it’s their first season playing in mens football, not that it showed as they showed a good style of football for most of the 1st half with a few of them looking really impressive. Even with a lot of changes and players playing out of their preferred positions, we took the lead just before half time with some good football which resulted in an own goal.
At half time we changed the formation to 4-3-3 and some of the lads looked lost but it gives us something to work on in training. In the end, physical strength seemed to get the better of us which resulted with us scoring two own goals which gave the visitors a 3-1 final score but it’s not all doom and gloom. There was a lot of positives to take from this game and I look forward to the start of the season. Well done lads let’s keep up the hard work.

Match date: 13 July 2013

Bromley Green 0-0 Bromley Green Reserves
Report by Mark Fellowes
A very encouraging performance from Bromley Green Reserves saw them earn a hard fought 0-0 draw with the first. With some resolute defending and some superb possession play, it was difficult at times to tell which team was which! The reserves came close through Connor Gower and Steve Wakam but in the end, a draw was probably a fair result. It is fantastic to see the reserve players pushing the first teamers to their limits which will give manager Stephane and assistant Dan plenty to think about in future squads.
