4.5.2013 Cup final report from Martin Wirt

So it was cup final day and we was up against Mersham. The match was at Staplehurst, so we organised a coach for the journey. Myself and Ian knew the team had to be at their best because Mersham were the only team we had not beat this season. The players seemed to be holding their nerves, unlike Ian, myself and some of the parents!
We arrived at the ground, all looking very smart too, i must say. Unfortunately the weather had turned and we were greeted by grey clouds, wind and rain!
The team got warmed up and then were taken back to the changing rooms, along with Mersham, to be lead out the ‘tunnel’ by the ref.
So the game got under way, all the players looked focused and well up for it. We knew that Mersham are a pursuing team so we told our players not to give them any time and always be tight. The Bromley Green team were playing excellent football.
The game was about 10 minutes in, when in-form striker Ryan put us 1-0 up, well done mate! The team kept the pressure on and were having all the play, with the defenders working very well keeping the Mersham forwards out. Chances were being made but we could not get the second goal I thought we deserved. At half time the score remained 1-0 to us.
The whole squad came off buzzing! Ian and myself told them to keep enjoying it and remain focused.
In the second half Mersham had the wind in their favour so we knew we would have to be strong at the back and hit them on the brake. The whole team were working so hard for each other. Fin was having a great game in goal making some good saves.
It was about 15 minutes into the 2nd half when Cameron was played in for a one on one with the keeper. He cooly placed the ball around the goalie but it hit the foot of the post and was cleared away. Mersham begun to put us under a lot of pressure. They had put 3 up front to try and get back in the game, but we stood up to the task. The last few minutes of the game had never felt so long! It was a nail bitting finish. The ref blew the whistle………the team did it, they won 1-0!!
There was a mini pitch invasion with all the players and supporters running on for a celebration. The champaign was soon out (non-alcoholic obviously!)
The whole squad put in 110%, from Fin in goal, who kept another clean sheet, to Curtis, Rhys, Jack B, Luke and Sam, who all defended for their lives. The midfield, Louis, Jack H, Sonny, Kuba, Leo and Zac, all never stopped running. And the forwards, Keeley, Cameron and Ryan who kept the Mersham defence on their toes the whole game.
The team cheered on Mersham who collected their runners up medals and then went up theirselves to collect their medals and……… The Cup!

You should all be so proud of yourselves at the way you all played as a team. Me and Ian are very proud of you all.

I would like to thank all the supporters that travelled up to watch the game. All of the team, Ian and myself really appreciated it.
Well done again team it was a great day!

Man of the match (chosen by the referee) was Bromley Greens Jack Brown. What a great choice, well done Jack, some superb tackles!

Cup final preview from Ian Mace
This Saturday Bromley Green under 11s are playing at The Jubilee Field, Headcorn Road, Staplehurst in our first league cup final against Mersham. The boys know they have to be at their best for this game as Mersham have already beaten us twice in the league this season, but they are aiming for third time lucky and if they show the determination and that Bromley Green attitude of never give up like they did against Pilgrims in the semi final then I am sure we will take home the trophy. Most of all they need to enjoy their day and have fun. Myself and Martin are really proud of all our players they have jelled brilliantly as a team and individually are progressing into fine young players. So come on the Green you just have to believe like myself and Martin believe in you all.
Squad: Finlay, Curtis, Luke, Rhys, Sam, Leo, Jack B, Louis, Jakub, Sonny, Zac, Cameron, Jack H, Keeley, Ryan.
Meeting place:  Waterside  9.30 am sharp.

Green boys into cup final
Report by Martin Wirt
We welcomed Pilgrims back to the waterside for the semi final of the Ashford cup.
The game got under way and it could not of got off to a worse start. We found ourselves 2-0 down after 5 minutes. This did not seem to faze the team they continued playing well. We got back into the game with a little bit of luck when a pilgrims defender scored an own goal. We were making lots of chances but the Pilgrims goalie was in fine form. However it was not long before Ryan struck, to bring the scores level at 2.2. In the last 10 minutes of the first half the team seemed to ease off and Pilgrims managed to hit in 3 more goals. After working hard to get back into the game we went in at half time 5-2 down. The team seemed a little down coming off but Ian and myself told them that we believed in them and that they could bring it back again.
They went out for the second half and went on the attack straight away! It was not long before Cameron scored. Pilgrims came straight back at us and scored again taking their lead to 6-3. The team did not let there heads drop they kept on battling away. We started to have all the play and were keeping the ball in the pilgrims half. Cameron then got his second goal followed by Ryan with a superb long range free kick. The score was now 5-6 to pilgrims. The time was running out, with 10 minutes to go Cameron scored again to claim his hat trick. This evened the score 6-6! The team were pinning the pilgrims deep in their own half and with about 4 minutes left to go, Louis had a shot at the ball, it was bouncing about in the area, then a pilgrims player turned it into his own net. We had the lead, we just had to see out the last couple of minutes (which seem to take forever!) The whistle went … the team had done it and the game was won 7-6.
It was a great game of football from both teams. Ian and myself would like to say a big well done to the whole squad for reaching the final, but please don’t do it like that again, you nearly gave me, Ian and your parents a heart attack! A big thank you to all the supporters, the boys pulled in a big crowd!

We could not choose one player of the match this week so it went to the whole team. Well done again. Final is on the Saturday 4th may against Mersham.

Green ready for the final!
Green ready for the final!

This week we are at home to pilgrims in the semi-final of the league cup, having beaten pilgrims last week 5-2 we must not take our foot off the pulse as we all know each game/week is different. Pilgrims are a good side but we have proved that we can beat them, if we play and work hard like last week then we can make it through to the final, you just have to believe in yourselves like myself and Martin does. The green side is progressing really well in their play and they are really working hard at training. Come on the Green we know you can do it.

Bromley Green 5-2 Pilgrims
Report by Martin Wirt
So we welcomed Pilgrims to Waterside for our last league home game of the season. We knew we had to be at our best as Pilgrims are a very good side. We was missing four of our players so this meant we went into the game with only two subs.

13.4.2013 Action from the win over Pilgrims
13.4.2013 Action from the win over Pilgrims

The game got under way and both teams looked up for it but it was Pilgrims that hit first, this was only because of a silly mistake, which was realised immediately after. However the team did not let their heads drop at all. The whole team were playing very well and were soon back in the game with a goal from Ryan. The players were doing exactly what myself and Ian had told them, which was, stay tight and be first to the ball. We kept the pressure on and Keeley came very close to getting her first goal for the club. Our defence were putting in a great display so a big well done to Curtis, Rhys, Jack Brown and Sam, (who had the best game of football I have seen him play, he never stopped, well done mate!)
With about 5 minutes to go of the first half Jack scored, to put us 2-1 up.
The ref blew up for half time the team came in buzzing! There was not a lot Ian and myself could say to the players apart from to stay focused.
The team could not wait to get back out there and they got straight back in to the flow of game. They were still making lots of chances. Then came the goal of the game! A lovely volley from Kuba, excellent! Pilgrims then scored another goal to make the score 3-2. Sonny and Zac were putting 110% in midfield, getting up and supporting the strikers and getting back to cover the defence.
Top scorer Ryan then scored again to make the score 4-2. The team carried on playing some of the best football they have played all season. Finlay was having a great game in goal, being very vocal and showing great leadership. Cameron finished off the scoring to make the final score 5-2 to the green army!
A big Well Done goes to each and every player. You made Ian and myself very proud of the way you all performed.
Player of the match went to Finlay well done mate

Report by Martin Wirt
So it was derby day again! This is always a hard game as all the kids train together twice a week. Everyone seemed in good spirit and looked up for the game. We was missing goalkeeper Finlay and defender Sam for the game so Curtis stepped in to be keeper for the day. The game got under way and it was a very slow start to the game. The colts were doing very well at keeping us out. With 15 minutes gone Keeley found some space and hit a great shot but it was saved by the inform keeper Greg. We started to make more chances and with 5 minutes of the first half left Ryan broke through to score. We were 1.0 up at half time.

Myself and Ian tried to encourage the team to get the ball down and start playing football. The team went back out there and done as we said, with Zac getting himself on the score sheet. The players did not look like they were playing their normal game, however they managed to remain in control. The colts also came at us with a few chances but the defence done their job.
We started to put the colts defence under pressure and Ryan bagged himself two more goals! With a couple of minutes to go, the colts had a corner. We cleared this and Sonny went on a run and played the ball over the colts defence to Cameron, who calmly lobbed the ball over the keeper. We ended up winning the game 5.0 so well done lads and well done to the colts who put up a good fight.
Squad: Curtis, Rhys, Jack b,  Luke, Leo, Louis, Kuba, Jack h, Sonny, Zac,  Keeley, Cameron,  Ryan. Player of the match went to Keeley [pictured], well played!

Ashford United 1-2 Bromley Green
Report by Martin Wirt
So we had a break in the league this week with the 1/4 final in the cup against Ashford united. We played Ashford last week and had an 8-0 win however we had reminded the players not to go out there thinking a win was going to come easy. That was last week and this was this week!
This was the first week we had a full squad and all the players looked focused and well up for the game.
The game got under way. It was a bit of a slow start to the game from both sides. However about 10 minutes into the match Ryan came so close when he hit the bar. We continued making more chances but the United keeper was in fine form. Ashford then hit us on the break to take the lead in the game. The team did not let their heads drop and they kept pressing to get back in to the game. Ryan came close yet again, this time by hitting the post! Jack.H also came close when he very nearly scored with a couple of minutes left of the first half, however when the whistle went we was trailing 1-0.
The players came in at the break with there heads down like they had lost the game already. Ian and myself had to encourage the team. We said to them that they needed to start playing as a team and not as individuals, then a goal would come. The whole squad went into the second half and knew what had to be done.
During the second half the team began knocking the ball about a lot better and were making lots of chances. We just could not get it passed the keeper! We hit the post for the second time when Cameron had a go from a distance. The Bromley green defence were being very strong once again keeping the Ashford strikers at bay. The time was ticking away and we still had not got the goal that we needed. There was 10 minutes to go when we had a corner which Zac met with a lovely header……GET IN THERE! We were back in the game. By this point of the game we were well on top but the time was running out. With 2 minutes to go Sonny broke down the right, he was one on one with the keeper but unselfishly passed the ball to Cameron who had to stretch for the ball, unfortunately the ball hit the post. The two boys were devastated. I was getting ready for extra time when the same two broke through again, but this time they got it completely right when Cameron tapped it into an empty net! Cheers all round! As soon Ashford kicked back off, the ref blow for full time and the come back was done.
Well done to all the players and a big well done to Ashford united who made us work to the last kick of the game! Man of the match went to Louis for some great work in midfield, well done.
Squad: Finlay, Jack.B, Sam, Curtis, Luke, Rhys, Leo, Sonny, Zac, Jack.H, Louis, Kuba, Keeley, Cameron, Ryan

Rampant Green hammer Ashford United 8-0
Report by Martin Wirt
We welcomed Ashford United to Waterside for a re-arranged league game. This was our 10th game of the season and after a great win 2 weeks ago the team was in high spirits, not even the freezing cold weather could get them down. The game started and we got off to a good start within the first 5 minuets when Cameron bundled the ball over the line. Ryan soon added another goal to make us 2-0 up after 15 minutes.
Ashford started to put us under some pressure this was because our players kept leaving their man! It just proves you must be switched on and alert at all times. Saying that, the team defended very well.
With about 5 minutes left we had a free kick on the edge of the box. Sonny stepped up to take it and hammed it into the back of the net. At half time we were 3-0 up.
Myself and Ian both thought the whole team were playing within themselves. We asked the team to start playing the way we knew they could play. By finding the space and getting it out wide.
The players definitely listened to what we had said and within the first minute of the second half Ryan popped up to grab his second goal of the game. We started knocking the ball about very well. Both Keeley and Jack.H came close to getting their first goal of the season (keep going, it will come) The defence were keeping the Ashford strikers at bay and giving Finlay an easy game in goal, so a big well done to Luke, Sam, Rhys, Curtis and Jack.B.
We continued making chances and Leo came very close to scoring. Then about half way through the second half Zac scored to take his tally to 10 for the season. Louis was having a strong game in midfield with some great attacking play. Ashford United then had a string of corners which the team dealt with and on the 3rd one, Sonny picked the ball up on the edge of the box and ran the length of the pitch and lobbed the keeper to clam his second of the game. The team kept the pressure on and with minutes to go Cameron added two more goals to get his hat trick! The final score was 8-0 to the Green Army. Well done to the whole team, another good performance and a great clean sheet, keep up the good work!
Player of the match went to Cameron for a terrific hat trick, and his all round game was excellent.

Smeeth & Brabourne 3-10 Bromley Green
Report by Martin Wirt
On Saturday we was away to Smeeth and Brabourne. We beat the team at the start of the season but knew this was going to be a tough game as S.A.B have been getting some good results. At Thursdays training I told the players to turn up on Saturday with their heads up and a BIG SMILE on their faces. They did exactly that! It was the most ‘up for it’ I have seen them for a long while. We got the team warmed up and then they were off! We were on top from the first whistle and with only a couple of minutes on the clock, Sonny put us 1-0 up. Ryan then doubled our lead with a lovely long range goal. The team were playing outstandingly, they were all holding their positions and the passing was top class. We kept the pressure on, which resulted in Louis popping up with the 3rd goal. S.A.B then scored 2 in quick succession, one of which was with a long ball. When the ref blew for half time we had our noses in front 3-2.
As soon as the players came off they all said they had thought the game was won at 3-0 so felt they had eased off. Unfortunately for them this didn’t happen as 2 goals were scored by Smeeth and Brabourne. The team knew what they had to do, start the second half like they started the first half, keep the team strength going and think 0-0!
The second half was the start of the ‘Zac Cowley show’! In the first 10 minutes Zac scored a hat trick. The first being a superb header and the 3rd a little chip over the keeper to make it 6-2. The whole team was playing to their best. From our stand-in keeper Curtis, right through to defence, Sam, Rhys, Luke, Jack.B and Leo, who all put in a solid display. The midfield were working very hard covering defence and supporting the strikers. The team movement on and off the ball was excellent. Sonny then scored his 2nd goal of the match, when he curled the ball around the keeper and it went in off the post. S.A.B kept on our heels the whole match and scored again to make it 7-3. Jack.H and Keeley both came close to scoring too, with great efforts. Zac added another goal to make the score 8-3. Sonny then went on a run down the right and put in a lovely cross for Kuba to tap it in at the back post, great work boys! Cameron finished off the scoring with another one of his fine goals. The final score 10-3 to the greens.
Ian and myself can honestly say, that was the best football the team have played. With Keeley really starting to fit in and Jack.H back to his match fitness after his injury, we can only get stronger! Well done to each and every one of you, keep up the good work!
Man of the match went to Luke for his fine defensive display.

Meet at Waterside 9.30am for 10.30am kick off

Hello all
On Saturday our game against the Colts was called off. We decided we would do some training instead but when only a handful of players (7 out of 15 for bromley green and 5 out of 15 for the colts) turned up, it made me feel very disappointed. As everyone had said they were available to play the match, we expected a lot more to turn up. I had one parent text me to say they could not make the training, so assumed everyone else would be there. We understand that sometimes it gets the team down when games are cancelled but training is the most important part of being a football team. I don’t want to sound like a moany coach but Ian, Duncan, Ryan and myself put a lot of time and effort into both teams, as do a lot of parents too. We all just want players to enjoy themselves and to continue bonding as a team.
If anyone does have any issues with getting players to or from the ground, please don’t hesitate to speak to us. Between us we will always try to help.
Sorry again for the moan but as you can tell we are very passionate about the teams.
Thanks, Martin.

This week is the derby match between Bromley green colts under 11s and Bromley green, this is the tie that I don’t look forward to as we all train together and support each other but there is a job to be done and if we don’t play to our best then we will find it hard to win. Both teams are developing really well  and I expect will be a bit rusty as the weather has ruined the last couple of months for any football to be played. Don’t forget myself and martins message is always enjoy your football and have fun.

Bromley Green 6-0 Wye
Report by Martin Wirt
So with 2 months without a game the team were at home to Wye on a freezing cold day!
Joining the team for her debut was Keeley, who seemed to slot right in with the rest of the squad. We got off to a slow start, you could tell the team had not played for a while. We couldn’t seem to get the ball down and play the way we usually did. The team seemed to be rushing and not taking their time. However we came upon a great chance when Sonny was brought down in the box, which won us a penalty. Birthday boy Curtis stepped up and slotted it home! Making us 1-0 up.
We soon found out that Wye juniors had definitely up’d their game since the last time we played them, as they were constantly making our defenders work hard. Luke, Jack B, Rhys and Curtis were all up to the task. At half time the score remained 1-0.
Ian and myself told the team to calm down and stop snatching at the ball. They needed to start passing to each other to create more chances.
Second half saw Cameron score 2 good goals in quick succession, to take his tally up to 10 goals this season! The squad soon started to gel more and were playing as a team.
12 January 2013 U11s[1]Wye continued to press and quickly broke through, however with some good tracking back by Sonny and a last ditch tackle, a goal was prevented.
Midfielders were all working hard, protecting the defence and supporting the attackers. Jack H, playing back with the team after recovering from a broken elbow, settled straight back in with a good midfield display. Due to our big squad, midfield was rotated regularly, with Zac, Louis, Kuba, and Leo all displaying impressive skills.
Ryan soon added two great goals, taking his tally to an impressive 20 goals this season! Keeley proved her place on the team by working really well with Cameron and Ryan up front.
With a couple of minutes to go, Jack B collected the ball at the back and seemed to run through the whole of the Wye team to score a good individual goal.
Finlay probably had one of his quietest games of football, but stayed focused throughout the match, as he usually does.
Final score 6-0 to Bromley Green.
Squad: Finlay, Curtis, Jack B, Rhys, Luke, Sonny, Louis, Jack H, Leo, Zac, Kuba, Keeley, Cameron and Ryan.
Player of the match went to Curtis not only for his well taken penalty but also his solid performance in defence.

Pilgrims 2-2 Bromley Green
Report by Martin Wirt
After two weeks off, we travelled away to Pilgrims. We knew it was going to be a tough game as Pilgrims have been unbeaten this season. All the boys were in good spirits and well up for the game, despite the weather not being on our side!
The game got underway. We was dominant for large periods of the first half but just did not get the goal we deserved. We then found ourselves 1-0 down when Pilgrims scored about 15 minutes in. The boys kept plugging away to try and get back in the game but no matter how hard they tried the ball would not go in the net! I was thinking to myself that it was going to be just one of those games … it was hitting the bar, missing by inches and the keeper was pulling off some great saves! We found ourselves 2-0 down at half time.
Ian and I encouraged the boys to continuing playing the way they had been and then surely one of our chances had to go in.

10.11.2012 Goalscorer Ryan on the attack

In the second half the boys showed they wanted to get something out of the game and proved this when Ryan broke down the right and slotted in our first goal. Our defence begun showing their strength as they kept Pilgrims out for literally all of the second half. Great work there boys! We came close with a couple more chances and with ten minutes to go Zac popped up for an equaliser. The boys were on such a high but for all their efforts could not find a winner. The game ended on a draw.
A great performance from Finlay in goal. Also well done to our defence, Rhys, Luke, Jack B, Sam and Curtis, It was the strongest defensive display we’ve seen from the boys before. Great play from the midfielders, Leo, Kuba, Sonny, Louis and Zac, you all done so well supporting your attack and covering your defence. Also Cameron and Ryan up front who both never gave up and proved Bromley wanted it!
Well done boys Ian and myself are very proud of you all, keep it up!
Squad: Finlay, Rhys, Jack B, Curtis, Luke, Sam, Leo, Kuba, Sonny, Louis, Zac, Cameron, Ryan
Man of the match: Jack Brown for great tackling and defensive display.

Bromley Green 11–1 Bromley Green Colts
Report by Martin Wirt
Our sixth game was against Bromley Green Colts! We knew it was going to be a match full of mixed emotions. All the boys train together and in the eyes of Ian, Duncan and myself, they are all one team.
Both teams were in good spirits. They all got together for a team photo with guest of honour Jack Stafford and all shook hands. With all the meeting and greeting done, the game got underway.
The boys got off to a great start when Ryan scored after a couple of minutes. The boys were showing the skills they had learnt during training, passing, moving and finding a space. We soon added two more goals, one from Cameron and one from Ryan. Curtis and Luke had a solid game in defence, with some good tackling and some important clearances. Zac then popped up and scored our 4th goal followed by Ryan who completed a hat trick with the 5th. Some great work came from Sonny and Louis in the middle of the park, they played some lovely balls and spread the play well. Just before half time Leo scored our 6th goal. The score could have possibly been more if it hadn’t of been for the great work of the Colts goalie Greg, who pulled off some wonderful saves with from the start.
Second half got underway with goal of the game coming from Rhys (his first of the season) with a lovely curling effort. The good football continued with Ryan scoring followed closely by Jack B. Although we were 9 goals up the Colts never gave up and kept pushing forward. This paid off when Joseph scored for them. Ryan then added another 2 goals, making his total for the season so far…..17!
The game ended 11-1, but this did not reflect on the effort the Colts put into the game, well played boys!
After the match both teams enjoyed some party food to celebrate Derby day!
Thank you to all of the boys, their behaviour on the day was outstanding and very respectful to each other. Our thanks also go to all the supporters who made it a great day for the boys.
Man of the Match went to Sam for great defensive work.
Squad: Finlay, Jack B, Luke, Curtis, Sam, Rhys, Louis, Zac, Leo, Sonny, Cameron, Ryan.
Well done boys, we’re are now top of the league! Keep up the good work.

Ashford United 2-7 Bromley Green
Report by Martin Wirt
For our fifth game we played away against league newcomers Ashford United.
We got off to a very slow start but the boys cannot be blamed, as the weather was awful! We was given a gift for the second week in a row, to make us 1-0 up with an own goal. This gave the boys a little lift. They got the ball down and started to play some good football. We then had a corner that was cleared by the Ashford defence only for Curtis to smash in a 30 yarder! Even he didn’t believe he had scored from that far, excellent! I think the boys thought the game was won at that point as they started to get sloppy. Ashford then pulled one back. Ashford United was then awarded a penalty from a hand ball. But luckily enough for us they hit the bar. The rain continued coming down as we pushed forward and Cameron slotted in our 3rd goal. We let another goal slip in to make the score 3-2 to us at half time.
We said to the boys at half time to shorten their passing and to keep the ball on the floor. They needed to play the simple ball as the slippery conditions were not helping.

In the second half they went out and done just that, with some neat one two’s between Louis and Zac. They then played Sonny in, who scored our 4th goal. Kuba then went on to score our 5th (making this the fourth game in a row for him to score) The boys were starting to play some excellent football. The defence were looking solid with some good work from Luke and Curtis. Sonny then completed some great footwork down the wing and laid it on to Cameron who scored his second of the game. Leo then finished off the scoring with his first goal for Bromley Green, which I think pleased his mum on the sideline! Final score 7-2 to Bromley Green.
Well done boys you all played some superb football. Just remember, the simple ball is the best ball.
Squad: Finlay, Curtis, Jack, Rhys, Luke, Sam, Leo, Kuba, Sonny, Louis, Zac, Cameron.
Man of the Match went to Zac for non stop effort and work rate

Bromley Green 10-0 Hawkinge
Report by Martin Wirt

Ian Mace and Martin Wirt with Player of the Match Sonny

After a week off we took on Hawkinge at home for our fourth league game.
Birthday boy Jack Brown was the captain for the game.
We went into the game on a high following our last win. Within the first 10 minutes we had lots of possession, unfortunately without an end product. We was then given a gift when a Hawkinge defender knocked the ball into his own net, making us 1-0 up after 15 minutes. The boys kept pushing forward. Sonny then came close to scoring when he hit the post. Ryan soon made it 2-0 with a header from a lovely cross by Cameron. Cameron then netted one for himself, making it 3-0 at half time.
Ian and I didn’t have to say much at half time, as the boys knew exactly what needed to be done in the second half.
They went out and done just that! With some good skills and close control Sonny set Kuba up for our 4th goal. The boys were in full flow, Ryan stepped up and scored a further 3 goals in quick succession to make it 7-0. Even though the goals were flying in, Hawkinge never gave up and kept pushing to try and get a goal, but our defence was just too solid on the day. Sam Duke had a really good game at the back, he was always aware of the players around him and didn’t let his guard down. Zac then went on to set up Cameron for his 2nd goal of the day and Ryan for his 5th!
The biggest cheer of the day came when the birthday boy Jack Brown scored his 1st goal of the season! Final score 10-0 to Bromley Green.
Excellent result boys, keep up the good work!
Squad: Finlay, Rhys, Sam, Curtis, Luke, Jack B, Leo, Kuba, Sonny, Zac, Cameron, Ryan.

Wye Juniors 0-13 Bromley Green
Report by Martin Wirt

Player of
the Match

For our 3rd game of the season, we travelled to Wye Juniors. After our defeat last week we had to get the boys in the right frame of mind. So we had a pre match team talk in the changing room before we left to make sure they had their team spirit.
Wye have been continually improving as a team, so Bromley Green needed work hard together.
My nerves were soon settled when Zac scored when he lobbed the keeper from outside the box. Ryan then scored 2, 1 being a penalty for a hand ball by a Wye defender.
We kept encouraging the boys on the side line, reminding them not to get too comfortable with the score.
Zac then scored his 2nd goal, followed by Ryan to complete a hat trick for himself. The goal of the game then come from Cameron Bruce, this was down to some lovely passing from Louis and Kuba. Kuba then scored making it 7-0 at half time.
Half time talk was about keeping up their good work and not letting their pace drop.
Went back out for the 2nd half and Kuba started just how we left off, with his 2nd goal of the day. Sonny then went on to score 3 quick goals in succession to get his hat trick. Zac then also went on to complete his hat trick with another well taken goal. Cameron then finished off the match with his 2nd goal. Finishing score 13-0.

Lisa and Scott sponsored the Man of the Match award which was won by Kuba

Even though the score ended this way, it wasn’t all one way traffic. Wye Juniors put up a good fight with some good attacking players and great pace, they never gave up. But on the day our defence were just too strong. The defence did not put a foot wrong, with Rhys, Luke, Sam and Jack B all working together strongly. Stand-in goalkeeper Curtis Hagger also put in some great saves today. Due to this team work this is how we kept a clean sheet.
All credit to Wye juniors who never let their heads drop once. They are a team to admire because of this. Well done Wye.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents etc, for all your support once again.
Squad: Curtis, Jack B, Sam, Rhys, Luke, Sonny, Zac, Louis, Kuba, Leo, Ryan, Cameron
Man of the Match: Kuba Grynko for his 2 brilliant goals and his continuous hard work on the pitch. Well done mate!

Mersham 5-1 Bromley Green
Report by Martin Wirt
We knew this would be a difficult match away against Mersham, however after last weeks win we stood in good hope. We was missing two players from the start, Jack Brown and Jack Hollamby (get well soon Jack H).
The game got under way but the boys all seemed to look lost out there. They wasn’t keeping their shape and they wasn’t being first to the ball, as they had been in previous weeks. This did not look like the team we all know!
We ended up 3-0 down at half time. Myself and Ian spoke to the boys during the break to try and get their spirits back up, which we thought we had achieved as Kuba went on to score a goal early in the 2nd half. He then came very close with another. Our come back wasn’t to be, as Mersham pressed forward and scored another 2 goals. Ending 5-1 to Mersham.

15.9.2012 Leo is our Player of the Match

Although I hate to say it, at times I did feel slightly disappointed today, with most of team and in myself as a coach. This is only because I know that they can play so well together and this did not shine through today. We do not expect them to win every game they play, however they do need to show passion and a will to win, which we thought was missing today. We want them to ENJOY football and have fun while playing. I hope this was just an ‘off’ day for the team and that we can bounce back from now on.
Squad: Finley, Curtis, Luke, Rhys, Sam, Sonny, Zac, Louis, Kuba, Leo, Cameron, Alex and Ryan
Man of the match went to Leo Hopley for getting stuck in and showing that he wanted the ball. Well done mate!
