Late coach set the theme for the night!
The less said about Wednesday’s cup final the better! The coach being over an hour late really set the tone and just about everything that could go wrong did! Not convinced it was a penalty when we had fought back to 1-2 but there we are. Thanks to all the supporters.

Match report from Martyn Dalby as Ashford are beaten again

Another win, final score 6-3, great goals from Pom x2, James H x2, Tom and Levii. Started off very slow and against the play we went 1-0 up and straight after should have made it 2-0 but Cam put the volley just wide great attempt. They caught us sleeping at the back and made it 1-1 we went 2-1 down and straight after half time Tom won us a penalty what Levii put away after the keeper made a great save with his first attempt he tapped it in. 2-2 then 5 mins after that we got caught napping at the back and in midfield and they took the lead 3-2. James scored a fantastic free kick top corner. Pom scored his second of the game and then Tom hit a thunder bolt hitting the crossbar and in the goal. James sealed it off with his second of the game great second half boys. Mom was Pom.

From Martyn 12.04.2015 Green 3-1 Kennington
Match report : biggest win of the season today in the semi final.started off slow and went a goal behind but we started straight away and Reece powered his way though to score. Levii and Cameron played really well in centre mid wining every ball to stop them getting into any rhythm.and we played some good football at times but nowhere near our best and Reece scored again to put us in the lead. Third goal was an og from Josh’s superb free kick. Pom was impressive up front with Reece as well who never gave up on any ball and it paid off. The whole squad deserve to get to the final and everyone should be proud of yourselves! Man of the match was an easy choice for me and that was Levii who dominated midfield for 90 mins. Training Tuesday at 6.20 everyone expected to be there

Charlie is our PoM in the great win at St Margarets

Great game today every single player turned up and gave 110% the weather wasn’t great and horrible wind but we seemed to cope a lot better then them. Levii had a great chance in the first team but he was so unlucky as it took a deflection out for a corner. Reece got the only goal of the game in the second half and it was a great finish past the keeper. Our defence was the best I’ve seen it all season. I can’t mention every player in the report as it will be too long but every one done the club proud! Man of the match was Charlie who didn’t put a foot wrong all game .

amir 9.11.2014Great 5-0 win today away. Big mention to Amir [right] who hasn’t been mentioned much he says … you played really well. First half was a bit slow but we kept the ball on the floor and when we got it out wide with Brandon or Cameron and a goal was coming and Reece took it very well, keeper had no chance.
Individual portrait Louis Burton 15 May 2014Late on in the half they got a free kick 25 yards out and it was well struck but Louis [left] made a fantastic save to keep us in the lead.
Second half was a lot better with the midfield bossing it and the defence was faultless. Great game from Reece today with 3 well taken goals. Tom came on late on and scored his first goal of the season.
Man of the match was Levii who had a really good second half and scored a superb goal.
See you all at training 6pm Monday at the North School.

2.11.2014 Dalby reports from Waterside
Fantastic game today against folkstone with a 4-1 win! Day started horrible with rain and referee not turning up but one of their supporters who was a qualified referee stepped in and was very fair. Louis didn’t have much to do but his kicking was great and he made a superb save in the second half. Defence was quality as normal with Tyler having a very good game; midfield was solid with Levi and James bossing it. Cam ,brandon,Josh was great down the wings. Reece made himself a nuance all game there defence could not handle him. Man of the match Jim.c who has impressed a lot of people over the last 3 weeks made great runs down the channels and linked up well with the midfield and Reece Chapman. Goal scores Jim x1 Reece x2 James x1 full time 4-1.

Tyler: "Mum doesn't feed me!"

Tyler: “Mum doesn’t feed me!”

The comfortable 6-0 cup win away to Dover Rangers provided a good work-out for the more difficult challenges that we face in the coming months.Manager’s report below.

For the match against Folkestone Invicta this coming Sunday it would be good to see more parental support. I appreciate some parents are working but more help with transport would also be appreciated. Thanks to Matt T, Sue and Sharon & Tony for getting the boys to River for our last game. DH

Also, thanks to those who stayed behind to wish Anjan a Happy Birthday and to Shane, Zac and Sharon for their help with the food.

Report from Martyn Dalby
Great win away to Dover in the cup,the pitch was horrible so it was hard to play good football. All the boys worked hard and done their jobs on the field. Full time result was 6-0 goal scorers was Brandon, the birthday boy AJ Pun scored 2 and yet again Reece gets another hat trick. MoM was a hard decision but it goes to Brandon A who worked hard in midfield and scored a wonder goal in the second half.

Cameron and Reece amongst the goals in great win at The Mount
Match date: 19.10.2014
Faversham Strike Force 1-4 Bromley Green
Report by Martyn Dalby
Under 16, we’ve being going though a rough patch the last 10 days with players frustrated and the manager but today we sorted out a lot and played fantastic football the best I’ve seen them play in a while. First half we was on top from the start and should have went in 4-0 up but we couldn’t hit the back of the net plus their keeper was keeping them in the game. Second half we was on top but they hit us on the break and went 1-0 up from a mistake from our keeper; but he made up for that with a great save bottom corner. We pressed and pressed and finally the ball hit the back of the net by Cameron. Then we scored again by Reece and he went on to get another 2 goals and we won the game 4-1 great team performance the man of the match was Reece who scored 3 goals.

From Martyn Dalby [away Trinity Colts 5.10.2014]

The day started up with a struggle with transport and players so thanks to the parents who helped and players who turned up. We was right up for the game until the game started and in 20 sec we went 1-0 down, but we showed heart and keeper going and came close. Just before first half we played good football and Levi scored with his left foot. Second half we was on top pressing them back into there own half but they looked goon on the break but Mitchell and rest of defence was solid. Amir made a over lap into the box and got the ball and got brought down and Levi scored the winner. Really tight game so well done boys Mom was Mitchell again quality game!

Away Trinity on Sunday 5 October in the Cup. Players please meet 11am and the venue is Dane Court School, Broadstairs Road, Broadstairs, Kent CT10 2RT.

From Martyn Dalby [away Canterbury Youth 28.9.2014]

The boys had a off day against Canterbury yesterday now we have to move on and concentrate on the next game.we started off well yesterday and revive scored.then they wince free kick 20 yards out and Louie made a quality save to keep us in the lead.that gave Canterbury coincidence going forward and before we New it there 2-1 up. Then ball over the top to Reece but keeper made a great save and it fell to Brandon b and he put it right in the roof of the net.2-2. But we was week in midfield and at the back and the final score was 5-2 Canterbury. Mom was Mitchell b because he won every header and gave it 100%.

19.8.2014 Bromley Green 5-0 Mersham

'Pom' - scored with both feet

‘Pom’ – scored with both feet

A string of superb saves from the visitors’ keeper kept the score down as we took part in our first pre-season warm-up match. Plenty of positives with diminutive two-goal Deshaun ‘Pom’ Alldis [pictured left] added to the potent force of Brandon Bourne, Reece Chapman and Amir and Levii impressing on the ball.

Well played all; thanks to Mersham for never giving up the ghost and for Connor Gower who stepped in to officiate. If someone refreshes my mind with the goalscorers, I will publish them on here. Reminder that there is training on Thursday!

Friendly on Tuesday 19 August 2014 at home to Mersham. Please meet in the clubhouse by 5pm for a 6pm kick off.

Please pay up now … thank you

22.7.2014 Whilst I am not your team manager any more, I am still in charge of accounts … and some of you are not paying your training fees regularly. If you did not sign up for DD, you need to pay training and match fees as normal. I have all the sheets which show who has and has not paid. Also any trips money still outstanding, I need it settled now please before we look seriously at booking next years tours. Those who are away at the time of the re-scheduled tournament please let me know tonight [especially those that were down to referee]. Thanks DH

Please don’t get into debt!

3.7.2014 Looking at the subs sheets on the bar top, only the following paid training subs this week: Mitchell £2, Brandon A £2 and Deshaun Alldis £4. Please settle up over the weekend or bring double on Tuesday. At the moment, only James H-A and Cameron have DD actually paying into the club’s bank account … although I know most of you will be soon. Thanks DH.

downloadBrilliant turn-out on Friday, thank you! And everyone wearing a club tie looking smart. Congratulations to you all for winning the league and to those who gained special awards on the night. I will upload some pictures onto the website main page and facebook when I have time … there are a few below to get on with … see you ALL Tuesday please as registration is from 5.15pm. You are now officially under the management of Martyn and Carl so please play with the same pride in your Green shirt for them as you have done for me as we have built a fantastic squad over the past two years. I know I have upset a few people along the way but no pain, no gain!

25.6.2014: Don’t forget to get your awards night tickets on Thursday if you have not already purchased them [the awards are on Friday]. Some of you do leave things late! Your league winners medals will be presented with a few other club awards. Club ties to be worn please. If you have transport problems getting to Homelands, talk to Martyn, Carl or myself on Thursday at training. Thanks DH

Thanks to Josh and Reece for all your help on Saturday at the Juniors Awards

Steve Rollings has told me he will have the first four tracksuits and bags printed for Tuesday clubnight: Cam, Jim, Josh, Mitch. Please confirm your parents have signed the DD or made the block payment up front. Time now to get everything ready for next season under Martyn and Carl. Anyone still needing tickets for Friday … you are leaving it late! Re next year’s trip to Belgium … as soon as all payments are settled for our recent trips, I will generate the paperwork and will be wanting all money paid well in advance to secure a place. I am not prepared to pay for people letting us down … we all know who they were … piss take! Any one with ideas to avoid the usual parents having to drive, please let me know … maybe if two sides go and we have a large coach? Now is the time to explore options. Anyway, see you in the clubhouse hopefully during the week.

16.6.2014: Note – I am hearing incorrect rumours that your parents HAVE to sign a DD for the coming season. This is not the case as the compulsory payments apply to seniors and U18s squad. However, most parents seem to prefer the DD system or pay the block amount up front. If in doubt, please ask your parents to speak to me. See you later and if you owe for ties, awards ticket try and bring it tonight. Thanks. DH

15 June 2014 Faversham Strike Force winners!

15.6.2014 U15s winners at Faversham Strike Force Tournament[8]

Clearly preparation for the tournament today was perfect! Firstly, thanks to all those who supported our own clubhouse during the day and evening on Saturday/Sunday. It is no coincidence that the most successful group in the club this season the squad that is most ‘club-orientated’. Thanks also go to Sharon and Anthony for providing the lovely chicken, rice, spuds etc. DH

Martyn has sent congratulations to all the players on the win at the Abbey School and points out that the B team, captained by birthday boy Jack, also played exceptionally well and showed excellent commitment throughout. “We started off a bit slow, giving the ball away, and maybe lack of sleep had something to do with that! The group games were tight, all being settled by the single goal as we finished top of our group with two wins and one loss … then we won the semi final, also 1-0. In the final, goals by Reece Chapman and James Haylock-Ashdown saw us deservedly win the tournament”.

With huge competition for places as we prepare for the East Kent Youth League Division One, Martyn added: “Everybody deserves praise and I must say the new boys were impressive”.

Proud of our boys!

The two youngest players on the pitch, Mitchell and Reece, were brilliant in the Memorial Match on Sunday … Mitch ended up the game as captain … what an honour and boost for our own squad … well done boys!

Thanks go to those parents and players that came to support the match in aid of charity on Sunday … by the evening £180 had been raised and we hope to add more

As you have probably heard by now, the Sunday first team manager Paul Grindley passed away a few hours after leaving the clubhouse on Tuesday. Two of our lads [Mitch and Reece], three U16s and a mixture of young players, have the honour of playing in a memorial game on Sunday with a 10.30am kick off. All support and respects in memory of Paul will be welcome. The clubhouse will be open from 7.30am.

Those who wish to consider taking up refereeing, please be at the ground on Sunday. Roger Corkhill will talk to you all and have a chat about our own tournament on 19/20 July at which several of you have offered to officiate. I will of course make sure you get something for doing it. Thanks DH

4.6.2014: Fantastic turn-out for training last night … considering the tiring season has just ended I think it shows how strong the squad will be for next season under Martyn and Carl. Don’t forget you need your club ties boys for the awards night which is on Friday 27 June at Homelands. The plan is for the U14s and U15s to all meet in our clubhouse about 6pm [wearing shirt ad club tie!] and go from there … of course if you wish to go straight to Homelands that is not a problem. Before that, help please at the ground from early morning on Saturday 14 June for the kiddies finals and Fun Day … I know some of you are staying over on the Friday/Saturday but please keep the noise to a minimum out of respect to the neighbours.

Can each of you text me with your Players Player vote please on 07761101988

Next tournament is Sunday 15 June at the Abbey School, Faversham … the day before we do need help please boys as we are hosting the local U9s cup finals which attracts loads of people … and in the afternoon is the Fun Day. England v Italy on the box late that evening … so it is a busy day and if you want to stay over speak to Martyn.

3 June 2014: Training tonight, please report by 5.45pm

Topkapi[2]As for Sunday’s match, I have no complaints and if we are honest it was just one game too many that we didn’t really need after the exertions of recent weeks. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up … their centre forward was the difference between the two sides. A new era is under way now and I hope you all give Martyn and Carl full support in the coming months. I will watch whenever I can and will be there to help guide those that feel ready into senior football come September. But, the U16s is now your priority so give it your best shot in the EKYL. All the squad is expected to attend on Friday 27 June at Homelands for the awards … on Tuesday can you privately tell me your selection as your Players Player of the Year please. Club rules state we all have to wear a club tie … so if you don’t have one, don’t leave it till the night, tell me now!

Kits numbered 7, 8, 13, 15 to come back Saturday morning please

Can everyone settle up what they owe me for the trips please … anyone needing petrol money talk to me privately … I will tonight [Weds] outline the way forward for the squad and hopefully any differences can be resolved … many thanks DH

Saturday’s kick off at home to Biddenden Hotspur will be 10.30am … meet in clubhouse 9am please … see you all this Wednesday for 6-7pm light training and meeting afterwards … all parents welcome … PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR KIT!

Last reminder! We aim to leave the clubhouse at 9am

BOLTON CUP UPDATE THURSDAY NIGHT:

[1] I have been informed by the organisers that ALL of our vehicles have to be parked at the Reebok and there is a shuttle service laid on. I appreciate this is inconvenient for most of us but the wording was “… any vehicles turning up at the Lostock Academy will be told to turn around!” I pointed out that we are based in Wigan and our supporters in Bolton. Wish they had put us in the picture before now but there we are. Let’s just go and enjoy it … we have a more or less fully fit squad now and we have that winning habit which is so important.

[2] New tracksuits and bags … Steve Rollings is expecting delivery on Friday between 4pm and 5pm. He is prepared to work through the night and get them printed to enable Clare and Paul to bring them up Saturday. This means we probably won’t have them until Saturday afternoon or indeed Sunday … so bring usual club tops please. Nothing I can do about it but at least we know they are on their way.

Our fixtures at Lostock Academy are as follows:
Saturday 10am v Barrow FC
Saturday 11am v Wirral Schools FA
Saturday 12 noon v Elite Mark Academy
Saturday 1pm semi-finals depending on group results whether we are in Challenge or Cup

Sunday 12 noon Challenge Final
Sunday 4pm Cup Final (Reebok)

11 minutes each half but the Finals are 30 minutes each half

Can we all just check the transport plan [click below] is correct … thanks

Bolton Youth Cup Transport

Tuesday training 5.30-6.30pm followed by meeting with parents at 7pm to discuss travel arrangements for Friday

Your new tracksuits will have your own ‘club number’ printed on and this will be your club account number for the rest of your time with the club. As you are the first squad to get them, you have a choice of numbers which can be anything from 0 up to 500. The following numbers have gone: 1, 2, 10, 44. Note this has no relationship to shirt numbers. Let me know tonight [or text me during the day] your preference and I will try and obtain the number you want. Just hope they are here in time for Bolton … if not, you will still get them anyway when registering for next season. Thanks DH

Provided everybody else is fit, the squad will be: Louis, Tyler, Josh, Mitchell, Jack, Max, Alfie, Brandon A, Brandon B, Amir, James H-A, Jim C, Reece, Cam, Macaulay

TRAINING THIS WEEK IS ON THURSDAY 15 MAY from 5.30-6.30pm as by then I hope to have an idea of who is fit and who is not!  This means there will be NO TRAINING ON MONDAY 12 MAY.

The game with Biddenden Hotspur will be on Saturday 31 May at our place … I will sort kick off time out nearer the day

No training this week boys but the clubhouse and MUGA are open Tuesday-Thursday nights if you want to come along [first team are at home on Wednesday]

Bognor briefly …

Due to family illness the website is only updated with basic info at present but as far as the Bognor trip is concerned it was typical us … outstanding one minute and pretty awful the next! But credit to all who tried and there were some memorable moments on the field that should not be forgotten [off the field, what happens stays at Bognor!] The two saves by Louis, who proved he can do it if he applies himself properly, and our well-taken goals, were bright cameo spots in what can best be described as a patchy set of displays by the lads with the opening match against AFC Sundon arguably our most energetic performance. Taking into account the abnormal list of injuries, I am not overly disappointed with the results as tournaments are, after all, meant to be fun and adjuncts to the season proper. The main objective now is getting chaps fit for Bolton and mentally prepared for what promises to be a great experience.

Those with injuries, I know I nag but we need to get them sorted in the next two weeks … can all those it concerns either text me or see me at the ground during the week so I am aware of progress

Let’s hope Tom is soon off of crutches and fit for Bolton

Friday we leave 9am for Bognor! Training this week will be on Wednesday only 6-7pm. Anyone with any kit at home … I must have it by Wednesday please.

ADYFL U15 Division
Smeeth & Brabourne 1-3 Bromley Green
Dave Homewood reports from Swan Lane, Sellindge
The home side gave us a real run for our money and led at half time through a penalty converted by former Green midfielder Matt Kirby, who impressed me throughout with his surging runs and strength on the ball.

Matt Kirby and Cameron Lumsden challenge in midfield

Matt Kirby and Cameron Lumsden challenge in midfield

Trying to give everybody a run-out is not easy and can disrupt the shape of the side; however, the boys adapted superbly and the three goals that settled a close match were straight off the training ground. Firstly Jimbo set up Tom for a fine strike, hard and low, that gave home keeper Nathan Thorpe no chance and Brandon Bourne once more demonstrated that he has listened with two cleverly placed left shots. It is not an accident that Brandon is scoring freely now with both feet … he has worked hard and deserves praise.

Brandon scores again with his left

The game was competitive but it never boiled over and in fact exemplified why I don’t subscribe to the view that this is a weak league. Aside from, with respect, Weald Wolves, any of the other teams are capable of beating each other on their day and [as with today’s opponents] have improved as the season has unfolded. The game did provide some cameo moments that are worth mentioning – our three well-taken goals of course and an incredible save by Nathan in the first half that kept us at bay. I am really pleased he is now getting regular football and able to progress.

A brilliant save by Nathan that kept his old side goalless by half time

Thanks go to League official Justine who presented the League winners trophy after the game and linesman Josh who kindly bought the ‘champagne’. We have one league game remaining, home to Biddenden Hotspur, and I will try and fit that into the week after we return from Bognor.

Under 15s ready for Bognor 11-a-side showpiece

FOFDetails are now available for the Green Under 15s tournament in Bognor over the next Bank Holiday weekend.  Our first game in the ESF Festival is on the Saturday against AFC Sundon, kicking off at 1.20pm. All the group fixtures are to be played at Avisford Park, near to the Butlins holiday camp. Group teams: AFC Sundon, Bromley Green, Kidlington Youth, Malden & Tiptree, Predators FC, Ulverley Hawks. We leave Waterside at 9am on the Friday.

Sponsors are still needed for the boys who have done some of their own fund-raising, including bag packing, to help the coffers.

Happy birthday today [Tuesday 22 April] to Paul Cheesman

Thursday 24 April: can we have all parents together please just for a few minutes after training to finalise arrangements for the trips … for those dropping out I am sorry but there is nothing I can do now so you will still have to pay … the tournaments were booked months ago when EVERY single player pledged their support for both trips [unlike adults, there was not, and is not, an option of going on one trip for the players; it was a package deal and the club has subsidised and paid up front in good faith for all the players] … the whole planning has been centred on the squad ending the season together … anyone with a problem please talk to me [privately if necessary] on Thursday … thanks DH

West Farleigh 4-1 Bromley Green
Well we came down to earth with  bump at West Farleigh and I really hope lessons were learned both on and off the field. When I said we will celebrate our league success at an appropriate and agreed time, that did not give licence for lads to go on the lash the night before a match! Hardly the preparation expected from a Bromley Green side that was previously unbeaten. It’s great to go out and enjoy ones-self but there is a time and place boys.

Some of what went on during the match will remain between those that were there and witnessed it … anything else will [wrongly] be interpreted as sour grapes. It would be nice to go to these far-flung places and have an official referee though that is not the manager or a relative of the home players … not once have we had that and it is wrong. Perhaps we should do likewise and save a few thousand pounds a year on officials fees for the club.

From our perspective, everybody had a run-out and I thought Brandon Austen and Jack Cheesman were our most effective players on the day whilst Brandon Bourne was always a danger up front and took his goal well.

We now have one Saturday off and perhaps that will give us time to reflect. On Thursday we will have a quick get-together after training and see where we might have done things differently.

So, next training is on Thursday 6-7pm. DH

Report from Waterside by Dave Homewood
My remit during pre-season was to develop a squad capable of winning the league and, with hard work and commitment from most of the players, that objective has been achieved with three games to spare.
Following last week’s victory against our friends from Mersham, changes were made to ensure more security in front of our back line as in our last encounter United tore through us on occasions and clearly possess the quality to pose a threat to our unbeaten record. This was key to our victory with Tyler Sorrell showing again his willingness to learn and take on responsibility by protecting the defence and breaking up attacks. Just like Reece Chapman and Brandon Bourne, Tyler has listened and responded to the need to function as a team member and fulfil a specific role. All three, in my humble opinion, are far more rounded players than they were just a few months back.
The opening minutes gave no indication of what was to follow and indeed it was the visitors who came close to scoring first with Mitchell Barrett called upon to make a superb goal line clearance. Had this gone in, who knows what might have ensued; but it was the Green who took control with Sorrell and James H-A in commanding form in central areas.
It’s always good to win things in style and our goals today illustrated not just our teamwork but also individual skills; the hat tricks by Kieran Wilson and Brandon Bourne were so pleasing on the eye. Reece and an unlucky own goal by Tom Bugden completed the scoring but credit to United who notched a splendid goal of their own towards the end.
The back four of Cameron, Mitchell, Jack and Joshua looked impressive when they kept their shape while at this point I must say thanks to the substitutes in recent weeks who have put the interests of the squad first and not whinged. We stand or fall as a group and their attitude has been spot-on.
Man of the match: Tyler
Well done to all the squad … no doubt we will celebrate in due course! My thanks to Martin Wirt and Jack Smith for getting things set up early on and making my life so much easier. Also I acknowledge with thanks the congratulations of United manager Steve and Sean of Mersham … much appreciated.
Next week we go to former champions West Farleigh and details of meet time will be given at training on Thursday.
See everyone at training on Monday 5.45pm at the North School plus in the hall afterwards … we will finish at 7.45pm. Then, on Thursday we will train at the ground [maybe switch to 6-7pm but we can talk about that on Monday].

Players: I keep getting texts asking basic details about fixtures. The opposition, kick off time and time of meet-up are always on this website under the Fixtures tab. This week for example for the game with Biddenden United, the details were published on Tuesday. See you all Saturday at 9am. DH

22.3.2014 U15s against Mersham[3]Terrific game of football with Mersham at Homelands on Saturday which ended 7-0 in favour of the Green, leaving just one point needed to secure the Ashford & District League title. Full report and slideshow below.

Bromley Green 7-0 Mersham

An entertaining local derby for a decent-sized crowd at Homelands as we close in on the title. A solid all-round display by the lads with Tyler, Jack, Brandon B and Reece outstanding. Credit to our visitors who as always battled to the final whistle and we send best wishes for a quick recovery to the lad who sustained a knee injury late on.

For the record, the goals were provided by Brandon Bourne (4), Reece Chapman, James Haylock-Ashdown and Kieran Wilson.

Player of the Match: James H-A who shone throughout in the midfield.

Thanks to all, including referee Barrie Wright, for an enjoyable tussle.

Next Saturday we welcome Biddenden United to Waterside for a League game as we are not eligible for the Cup due to being on our first trip in May [when the final is held].

Match date: 15 March 2014
Biddenden Hotspur 4-8 Bromley Green
Before kick off we agreed that the line-up had to take into account a pudding of a pitch that was never going to suit our lighter ball players. Quite frankly, considering the appalling surface and the fact that once again our opponents manager was the referee, I was happy to just earn the points, come home, and prepare for the battles ahead. That said, the referee was fair and I have no complaints with his performance; it is just that we always make sure we pay to have a qualified official in case things become contentious.
How on earth Hotspurs are not challenging at the top is a mystery to me as time and time again they put us under pressure and had some impressive lads that pushed forward in numbers. The home team squandered chances to embarrass us and the contest was very close until the last few minutes when our work in training once again proved decisive. By this I mean players using both feet, keeping the ball on the deck and so on. This was noticeable with Tom who came on and did his job in a forward role … worked hard, kept the home defence occupied all the time and was rewarded with a superbly taken left-foot goal [hard and low] giving the keeper no chance. Would Tom have achieved this a year ago? No. He would have twisted his right leg round his balls, made a hash of it, apologised to me, and felt bad. So well done to him … it proves if players listen that the simple things in football pay off.
Our team performance in all honesty was not memorable but the old adage of grinding out a result was what mattered today and our goals from Brandon B (4), Reece (2), James H-A and Tom were beautifully crafted and taken.
Man of the match went to Brandon B [pictured left with Welfare Officer Terry Perk]; not just for his superb goals but for the non-stop work rate on behalf of his team. Brandon will know what I mean when I say he is a much more rounded player than he was a year ago … keep up the hard work and the rest will come Brandon.
Apart from Jim Cambridge, we should have everybody fit for the game at Homelands against Mersham on Saturday which has an 11.30am kick off. I have chosen to ask Mersham to be the fixture we play in the stadium because they are sporting people and will, like us, always endeavour to play fair football. Admission for adult spectators is £3 and the match day programme is £1.

Report by Dave Homewood
A number of salient points came out of this league fixture between top and bottom but firstly I feel praise is due to our visitors who battled bravely and without doubt have improved since our last meeting two months ago. Despite the scoreline and our obvious superior fitness, the Wolves never gave up and earned our respect.
That said, once we had overcome a modicum of rustiness due to the long lay-off, some of our football was a delight to watch and even the boys commented on how the simple combination work we do in training really came to the fore today.
After James had put us ahead on his debut with a beautiful strike, there was no doubt where the points were going and one move involving Tom and Alfie, who both demonstrated their versatility and value to the squad today, was top notch.
Some brilliant goals were shared between James (2), Brandon B (3), Kieran (3) and Reece (2). I think that is right … let me know if not and I will amend. But as we reach the business end of the campaign, I really don’t care who scores … it is the team and the result that matters most.
So pleasing to see the movement off the ball, lads employing both feet, the ball rarely flying over the top and [most of the time] our give-and-go policy working a treat. There are a few details to work on; such as the old chestnut of getting the right side of the attacking opponent in midfield and for me to make sure the blend is right.
Having four lads out today only goes to reinforce the fact that there is real competition for places in all positions now and, whilst that may present myself with selection problems, it is necessary for the squad to evolve and build for success.
I have made just two new signings, Cameron and James, and believe they will prove long-term positive additions to our group both as club people and footballers.
We will have to present the Player of the Match award on Thursday at the ground but thanks go to Brandon B, Reece, Josh and Jimbo who came back to the clubhouse.
Training is as normal at the North on Monday 5.45pm and at the ground on Thursday at 7pm. Now the weather is improving, let’s have everybody there and please can some of you cut out the silly excuses … I don’t fall for them!
Next week we travel to Biddenden Hotspur and should have Amir returning although Max and Jimbo will almost certainly miss out again due to injury. I will give details of meeting time and kick off after training on Thursday.
So, a good day at the office boys … well done and thanks to referee Barrie Wright and Paul Cheesman for the photos. See you all Monday.

Thanks to those who trained on Thursday … I know it is not ideal at the moment but it keeps us ticking over for the important league games coming up … with regards to Saturday’s home game with Biddenden Hotspur, I understand there will be a ground inspection some time around lunchtime Friday so by mid-afternoon I should be able to give a definite on or off. My hunch [sorry but it is really wet out there] is that all home matches will be off. Anyway, let you know here and on facebook Friday afternoon. Cheers DH

With three injured and one failing to turn up, we went to the outskirts of Sevenoaks with just 12 players. The early couple of goals usually sink the struggling sides and so it proved as we went on to take a commanding half time lead despite the heroics of the Wolves keeper Alex.
The goals came from Kieran (6), Reece (2), Brandon B (2), Alfie (2), Mitchell, Cameron, Josh, Amir and Jack.
Credit must go to the home boys for never giving up but we have our own objective which of course is to win the league. Who knows, the goal difference column could prove critical at the end of the season.
We now have the festive break from official fixtures but there is training on Monday at the North School as usual and we will present Saturday’s Player of the Match award before we start. On this point, please can all of the squad be present after games – just for 10 minutes even if you don’t want to stop. Without all team mates present [as today], the Player of the Match presentation is something of a damp squib. This Monday we will finish sharp at 7pm as it is the Executive and Managers Christmas meal up town. Our last training session before the break will be on Thursday in the MUGA at 7pm. Then we have the FIFA party night on Monday 23 December when I will order food from our sponsors TOPKAPI.
Top of the league at the turn of the year and unbeaten and that says it all really … well done and keep working hard to improve your game both as individuals and as a squad.

Well done to Brandon who earned his award by sticking to his task, getting us back into the game on Saturday at Sellindge and his general behaviour and attitude recently.

No game on 7 December, so whatever you have to do with the family, friends, fishing, shopping, sleeping … do it this weekend please as we have Weald Wolves away the following Saturday. I will select the squad after training on Monday [North 5.45pm – 7.45pm with photoshoot and Thursday [MUGA 7-8pm]. You will not be going on road runs again in the foreseeable future.

When you are ready, I need some more payments for the holiday tournaments … please don’t keep leaving it is a drag keep having to ask. Thank you.

Thanks to all those who contributed to the raffle which is being run to raise money for the trips.

Photo-shoot tonight … good luck to Nathan at his new club
Photo-shoot tonight 6pm … so arrive as normal at 5.45pm please. Bring trip money, training and match subs as appropriate please plus the bottle of alcohol for Sharon [for the raffle in aid of your trip money]. Let’s see what the weather is like … there could be a road run if everybody is up for it.

We send best wishes to Nathan Thorpe who has accepted an approach from Smeeth & Brabourne. Nathan has been a splendid clubman but it is appreciated that he needs more match time to develop his game.

Definitely a game of two halves as we staged a great second half fight back from 3-0 down. Drastic situations call for drastic action and the lads responded brilliantly to their half time instructions as we tried to deal with a crop of injuries as well as a mountain to climb. We stand or fall as a squad and today once again showed why we need a large pool of players to choose from when things become tough. Brandon Bourne, Mitchell Barrett (2) and Kieran Wilson (2) were our scorers as we just keep our noses in front at the top of the table. The Player of the Match award will be presented after training on Wednesday.
Next week we have no fixture and the following Saturday we travel to Weald Wolves before the Christmas and New Year break. See you all Monday at the North School.

Saturday 30 November 2013: We will take a squad of 16 to Brabourne & Smeeth as there are still one or two niggling injuries and I don’t want us to be as stretched as last week. Biddenden made numerous midweek signings from Ashford United and duly gained their first point of the season but quite frankly we had over a dozen simple chances and just did not put the ball away.
There are areas that I will be talking to the players about in private at training on Monday and Wednesday.
Reece scored both of our goals.

Revised squad to travel to Biddenden United (23 November 2013)
Please meet in the clubhouse by 9am
Dylan Barry; Tyler Sorrell, Mitchell Barrett, Kieran Wilson, Jack Cheesman, Amir Zureiqi, Brandon Austen, Joshua Twyman, Tom Messenger, Cameron Lumsden, Reece Chapman, Max May, Brandon Bourne, Nathan Thorpe. Jimbo and Alfie are injured … Alfie don’t forget the photos please.

Summary by Dave Homewood
No doubt for the neutrals this was a great game to watch but for me it was enough to drive me to drink! Firstly, my thanks to Martin Wirt for his early-morning setting-up, Sharon for washing the kit, and also credit to the visiting champions who pushed us to the limit.
That said, and allowing for the uneven bounce of our over-used pitch, the painful passing, swinging of the boot aimlessly and general lack of real endeavour by too many left much to be desired. Our defence has been magnificent to date this season but it was far from it today! Still, we are all entitled to one off day, so let that be it.
At half time, with West Farleigh having thus far created the better chances, it was clear something had to be done and the changes worked with Amir Zureiqi firstly hitting a superb goal from Reece Chapman’s [left foot] cross and then finishing coolly himself following a fine pass by Mitchell Barrett.
But with ten minutes remaining it was Farleigh who held a 3-2 advantage and our unbeaten record was undoubtedly in the balance. However, a burst through the middle and beautiful finish by Brandon Bourne levelled matters at 3-3 and in all honesty I was happy to settle for the point after what was overall a below-par performance.
The terrific goals by Amir and Brandon were the highlights for me from a lack-lustre display and if ever we were to receive a kick up the backside to illustrate that the season has a long way to go, this was it.
Next week we are scheduled to go to Biddenden United with rapidly improving Smeeth & Brabourne our opponents the following week. I will continue to gradually strengthen the squad with the future in mind if quality players become available to increase competition for places … that’s my job.
See you at training on Monday 5.45pm at the North … we are not inside in the hall this week so I expect to see everybody!

Squad of 14 for the game with champions West Farleigh on Saturday 16 November 2013 is: L Burton, T Sorrell, M Barrett (captain), K Wilson, J Cheesman, M May, A Zureiqi, J Twyman, T Messenger, B Austen, A Hills, B Bourne, R Chapman, D Barry. Please meet 8am sharp [not roll up when you feel like it!] Again, apologies for all those not involved. DH I will be giving Amir an alarm call at 7.15am! Anyone else need one to their mobile?

Mersham Juniors 1-5 Bromley Green
Some superb first half build-up play and finishing laid the foundations for this hard-earned win which enables us to open up a gap between ourselves and our nearest rivals at the top of the table. Perhaps the old cliché of ‘a game of two halves’ applies here as, after holding a commanding 5-0 lead at the turn round, the home side gradually came more into the picture and, inspired by some brilliant saves by their keeper, deservedly netted a consolation goal.

Once again, a really entertaining affair between two sides that always try and play football that was well controlled by referee Ricky Howlett. The Green marksmen were Reece Chapman with a hat trick, Brandon Bourne and skipper Mitchell Barrett.

From the manager’s perspective, I can only give praise to the boys who played with a different line-up and followed their pre-match instructions. Examples being Brandon Bourne – who showed how he has matured as a player by doing exactly what was asked of him and netting a splendid goal in the process – and Amir in midfield whose all-round game has greatly improved in recent months. But this was about the squad and everyone played their part … well done!

Next week we face reigning champions West Farleigh, another of the better sides in this league [which let’s face it is split into two with four good teams and three not so good]. Training as usual is Monday and Wednesday boys.

Preview …
For the Mersham match, I will only be taking 14. Once again apologies to all those not involved but I don’t want lads wasting their morning if there is little chance of a game. Dylan’s forms still have not been processed by the League and therefore he cannot be considered. So, here is the 14 to meet in the clubhouse at 9am: Louis, Tyler, Mitchell, Kieran, Jack, Max, Brandon A, Alfie, Jim, Amir, Brandon B, Josh Tom, Reece.

Saturday (9 November) we are away to Mersham. Please meet in the clubhouse by 9am. The squad will be finalised Friday afternoon. Also, those that still need to bring their deposit for the trips, can you do so as soon as possible please. Thanks DH.

Wednesday 23 October: for training please bring footwear for the cage as well as the grass … we start at 6pm [not 6.15pm!] and finish at 7pm. I will bring more details of the two trips in May that I hope you can all make. The big games are on the box in the clubhouse if you wish to stay and watch and I will get you something to eat.

Training arrangements now the winter is setting in: Everybody please try and make Mondays at 6pm at the North School and bring footwear suitable for the 3G and the gym. Normal training fee for the week applies so bring that with you please. We will discuss midweek training tonight (Monday).

Bromley Green 3-1 Mersham
Our visitors gave us a real scare and arguably deserved to take something out of this somewhat tense top of the table match at Waterside on Saturday morning. My own view is that neither of what are two decent footballing sides displayed too much creativity during the opening half but maybe it was a case of cancelling each other out. Mersham, superb at the back and dangerous down the flanks, took the lead early in the second period by way of a Kieran Wilson own goal and then proceeded to give us the hardest game so far this campaign. However, good teams find something extra when backs are against the wall and Reece Chapman levelled to set up a final half hour that saw both sides eager to take the initiative. When substitutes Amir Zureiqi and Tom Messenger combined for the latter to score with a picture-book header, the momentum swung slightly the Green’s way and the result was sealed near the end when Brandon Bourne bravely beat an advancing keeper to head home a clinching third. Good entertainment for the spectators in a game sensibly refereed by Callum Wright.

Saturday 19 October 2013: most of you were informed of the meeting time on Thursday which is 8.30am sharp. The squad is the same as last week, plus Amir returning after being unwell. Also, £30 deposits please for the Butlins Football Tournament by the end of the month. Anyone who has not confirmed with Luke for the Paintballing on 27 October, please do so on Saturday.

Local derby should be a great game
As you will see from the table, there is no room for complacency this Saturday with our guests Mersham just three points behind us having suffered one defeat. Should be a great game and of course our objective is to gain maximum points to keep our noses in front at the head of the table. Almost as important as winning I feel is the development of individuals which of course contributes to the collective performance of the squad. The only moan is when some of you go into ‘silly mode’ and that really winds me up … half time last week being an example and let’s be honest, despite the final scoreline, we could well have come a cropper. I do feel bad about not giving five or six of our lads much football … but you can’t have it all ways. Tampering with the line-up every five minutes and ‘rotating’ to ‘give everyone a game’ is no good if you, as a squad, want to win things. For those reading this before training on Thursday, Sharon needs to know your date of birth for the forms for the trip to Butlins football tournament please asap. Apart from Nathan, who has school commitments, I take it you are all coming. If not, Sharon and myself need to know now. We will soon need a deposit and get some fund raising going to lower everyone’s costs.

Report by Dave Homewood
For a while the home team looked capable of ending our winning run but superior fitness and clinical finishing when it mattered saw us over another hurdle to retain our place at the top of the table.
Whilst we gained the points, I was not happy with elements of our performance and indeed the attitude of some; but those issues will be dealt with in the privacy of the changing room, not on here.

Man of the Match Mitchell finds Matthew amusing for some unknown reason

Man of the Match Mitchell finds Matthew amusing for some unknown reason

Well taken goals from Alfie, Max, Brandon B (2) and Reece (3) saw us record what looks like a convincing win. But Biddenden have some effective players and, in a first half spell when they hit the crossbar and twice came narrowly close, the game could have swung away from us. Once again, with a long way to go in the season, there is no complacency or we will get our backsides kicked.
Some excellent contributions from a number of the lads with the Man of the Match award going to Mitchell for his professional approach.
Next up are Mersham who sit just three points below us. We are at home on Saturday (10am kick off … meet clubhouse by 8.30am). Before that, see you all on Tuesday and Thursday at 5.30pm.

12.10.2013: Away Biddenden Hotspur – Preview
With a bit of illness and a few niggling knocks, I will not be taking any chances on Saturday and we will go with a 16-man squad. The aim is to gain three points from our nearest rivals so there will be no sentiment … we have a job to do as a squad. Please meet by 8.30am in the clubhouse. Squad at the moment: Louis, Tyler, Jack, Mitchell, Kieran, Luke, Max, Josh, Jimbo, Alfie, Nathan, Tom, Brandon A, Brandon B, Amir, Reece.

Next Saturday (12 October) we travel to meet Biddenden Hotspur who have to date lost just once … so we will need to be alert and ready to give full commitment. Training this week is as normal: 5.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday. We start at the North School on Monday 21 October … but I will remind you again before then.

Bromley Green 11-0 Weald Wolves
Report by Dave Homewood
In the end we ran out comfortable winners against Weald Wolves who deserve praise for never giving up and contributing to a sporting game well refereed by Callum Drysdale. Our squad is still evolving and Saturday was another example of where I was able to try different things with future planning in mind.
Let’s not forget that, whilst the opposition may not always be strong, you can only beat what is in front of you; plus I had six players in the starting eleven that were not with us last season [Louis, Kieran, Max, Jack, Amir, Reece] and they have enhanced the quality of our squad.
For the record, Reece hit six, while Brandon A, Amir, Brandon B, Jimbo and Mitchell also scored as in spells we played some excellent football. Also, aside from Louis keeping a clean sheet, I was pleased with the performances in particular of Josh and Jack who are simply listening to what is expected of them now. What a huge improvement in just a few weeks as they are suddenly superb in the air and get goal side of their man when our opponents have possession. I mention this because perhaps the lads don’t always receive the praise they deserve for the effort they put in. Our usual chaps going forward [Amir, Brandon B and Reece] are without doubt more effective players now than at the start of the season. They are stronger in the challenge, look hungry, deploy both feet, and are scoring goals. Well done boys!
I am not going to run through the whole 18 or so players … that would be patronising; but I do wish to just reiterate how pleased I am with the professional approach of the lads plus my delight that our captain Mitchell realises he has a big future at Ashford’s best club by a distance. Of course most of you will be tapped-up by other teams at some stage … but I lead by example and expect total loyalty.
We sit proudly at the top of the table and, if we remain focused, can achieve our objective of winning this league. That will only be done with continued hard work and dedication and there is no room for complacency with a long way to go yet. See you all at training on Tuesday 5.30pm.

Manager’s preview
Thanks go to those who trained on Thursday … great commitment, especially as several came straight from school matches.
Next up, we welcome an unknown quantity to Waterside in the shape of Weald Wolves and, with them recording a win last Saturday, a totally professional approach is needed as we seek the maximum points to stay top of the table.
Picking the squad for match days is never easy but all the time we are winning there is no justification for altering things … again this is very hard on those that miss out but, as I have said from day one, we have to stay focused and stick together as a large squad and that our challenge is to win this league.
The 14 for Saturday will be: Louis, Tyler, Mitchell [c], Kieran, Jack, Luke, Josh, Max, Brandon A, Amir, Alfie, Brandon B, Jim, Reece
We meet at the ground by 8.30am … please don’t be late and if you need an alarm call let me know

There is a possibility that we will have the North School 3G on Mondays from 6-7pm once the clocks are altered. I know it is not the ideal night for most of us but we can give it a go. This means we could have Mondays at the North and Wednesdays at the ground … but we can talk about that over the next few weeks perhaps and see what the majority want to do.

For the moment, training remains Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-7pm.

With our tour this year, it seems most prefer Bognor Regis Butlins on the May Bank Holiday [2-5 May] and we may have one or two other BG youth squads coming with us which will be good. We will make a decision very soon now and let parents know.

Report by Dave Homewood
I do hope we don’t miss out on the league title by goal difference as quite frankly I did not find the missing of a glut of chances at all amusing. Whilst never moaning at a player for not taking a chance, as nobody misses on purpose, I do expect a mature response and a determination not to keep making the same errors.
All weekend I watched football [and on the TV] and cannot believe the percentage of chances that were blazed over the bar. In most cases, it is not ‘unlucky’, it is a sheer lack of thought and application.
The game itself was over by half time with a 6-0 scoreline and some superb football was played before we took things far too casually. We just can’t seem to keep a clean sheet these days and conceded what from our point of view was a poor goal from a corner.
Scorers on the day, and correct me if I have got them wrong, were Brandon B 2, Reece 2, Josh 3 and Jim.
There were lots of positives in the opening half with some players, especially Jack, showing that they can head the ball in challenging situations and he had his best game to date. The subs came on and did well, so we are ticking over nicely.
We sit top of the table and that is where we want to stay. But I have no doubt that West Farleigh and Smeeth [who were short on this occasion] will offer sterner tests next time round. As long as we concentrate on our game, keep learning [Amir is a prime example as he is already a much more rounded player than just a couple of months ago] and don’t fall into the trap of giggling about when we make a hash of things, then we can face the season with confidence.
Complacency is a big danger and we have to go into every match showing respect but not fear to our opponents.
Thanks go to Ian Mace and Martin Wirt who arrive early and get the goals out for your home games … much appreciated.

This could be our sternest test so far and the lads will need to be fully switched on to ensure another three points. Attendance at training has been excellent … well done! Those players having school games that leads to missing training will not be penalised as you must represent your school when you can.
As you all know, selection is a headache every week as we have such a talented squad. But decisions have to be made and I will not be juggling around too much with a winning formula. Charlie is prepared to wait his time and appreciates that it will take most of this season for him to gain the confidence necessary to be comfortable in playing regularly. But he is making great progress and his time will come.  Tom’s yellow card has come through so I will give him one more week before bringing him back into the squad … and then he will have to understand that I am being serious when I say he must behave. Football can be very frustrating but we must always be in control of our actions.  Mazlum’s situation will be decided by the authorities, not me, and he is suspended from training or playing until further notice.
I will expect everyone to be on their best behaviour and totally committed to the shirt against Smeeth. The squad, unless there are late injuries, is: Louis, Tyler, Mitchell, Kieran, Jack, Luke, Brandon A, Max, Josh, Alfie, Reece, Nathan, Jim, Brandon B, Amir.
Please be on time at 8.30am with everyone wearing their BG tracksuit top.

This emphatic victory should have seen us celebrating going top of the table but I am afraid the incident towards the end overshadowed a decent performance. It seems that at each game at the moment we have a player booked, in trouble with the referee for poor behaviour or, as in this match, sent off.
I am not sure some lads fully understand the serious nature of their conduct … but I will not tolerate our great club’s name being dragged down. I cannot say more on Saturday’s incident as the authorities will now conduct their investigations. All I can say is that players with poor disciplinary records will not be picked as it is not fair on the rest of the squad who behave themselves. Once again I see inappropriate and personal comments of poor taste on facebook concerning internal football club matters … please stop it.
The game itself was hard fought but generally speaking we held control; although the visitors did score a stunning goal for 1-2 to give us a wake-up call. It was a poor goal to concede from our point of view: wrong side of the man again. For spells during the game I was not happy with our play as some of you simply will not head the ball and our passing left a great deal to be desired. But as the game wore on we were clearly the stronger team and went on to a comfortable victory despite half the side looking as though they had just got out of bed! By the way Reece, use your left!
Our goalscorers: Max, Amir, Brandon B 3, Josh and birthday boy Reece 2.
Next Saturday we entertain Smeeth & Brabourne which should be a strong test as they seem to be able to rattle in the goals like ourselves. The squad will be announced on the website when I have looked at attendance, considered attitude and any lingering injuries. Players to meet in the clubhouse by 9am at the latest and every player to wear their BGFC tracksuit top please.
PS: There are a few school games lined up so I hear and it is only right that you should play for your school even if there is a clash with training. The golden rule of course is always tell your manager if you have to miss training or will be late due to school commitments.

Next Saturday we welcome Biddenden United to Waterside for a 10am kick off

7.9.2013 West Farleigh 1-8 Bromley Green

Fantastic result! 8-1 to the Green as champion are hammered

Now the benchmark has been set, I will expect this level of determination at every match! It is of course a result that will send alarm bells ringing around our closest rivals (Biddenden Hotspur, Smeeth & Brabourne, Mersham on their day and of course the title holders West Farleigh who it’s fair to say were surprised and we caught them cold).

After a shaky start, and going a goal behind, we gradually found our form and some of the work in training began to pay off. Indeed it was the ploy of using quick one-twos and controlling our shooting that saw us level and build a useful 4-1 lead by the interval. Whilst we did not look completely convincing against the wind, it was the commitment of Reece, Brandon and Amir in the final third that made life difficult for the Farleigh defenders. Now there is an appreciation that the ball is ‘ours’ the whole team can, if it applies itself and listens, go on to have a successful season.

The goals arrived at regular intervals from Reece (4), Brandon B (2), Amir and Brandon A and they were superb strikes … the important factor being that we ‘worked’ to keep the ball and create the openings.

Everyone played their part and achieved the objective that we spoke about during the week; eg to produce our brand of football and come home with the points. So well played to the boys and again, for those that were not in the squad, please keep enjoying your training and remain a part of things as over the course of a long season you will be involved.

No complacency now … one win is precisely that. We must focus, understand that I am preparing you for a seamless introduction into senior football [yes it will be here before you know it trust me!] and act in a professional manner at all times. Biddenden United are our visitors on Saturday and we will treat them with the same respect as West Farleigh as football, like life itself, can kick you down if you become too big for your boots. Keep it going and see you at training.

Green: Burton; Sorrell, Barrett, Wilson, Cheesman; Austen, Twyman, May, Zureiqi; Bourne, Chapman. Subs: Bryant, Aydin, Hills, Messenger.

Man of the match: Could have been any one of several with Tyler, Max and Brandon Bourne running close … but on the strength of his four goals and superb work rate alongside Amir and Brandon, it goes to Reece.

I will only be taking 15 to West Farleigh and for this particular Saturday the squad will be: Louis, Tyler, Mitchell, Kieran, Jack, Amir, Reece, Brandon A, Max, Brandon B, Josh, Alfie, Luke, Mazlum, Tom. Apologies to those that are not picked but I think you will agree we can’t keep changing things every five minutes as we lose all shape. Those left out have done nothing wrong and it would be great if they still came with us and were a part of things. I will understand howevever if they have other things to do. Remember the meeting time is 8am. Thanks DH. This is the address of the ground: Elmscroft Park, Charlton Lane, West Farleigh ME15 0NY

Don’t forget, we leave clubhouse 5pm. Thanks DH

TRAINING WILL NOW BE FROM 6-7PM WITH ME ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS … DON’T FORGET IF YOU ARE UNAVAILABLE FOR TRAINING OR MATCHES THAT YOU ARE ASKED TO PUT DETAILS ON THE SHEET ON THE NOTICEBOARD IN THE CLUBHOUSE … THANK YOU … DH

Please remember: there is one week off from training during the summer and that is for the 13 and 15 August 2013. You can still attend of course and join in with others if you wish. I will expect everyone, except those genuinely away or ill, to be at training on Tuesday 20 August.

Strong squad of 18 … short rest then full steam ahead!
Finally, decisions have been made by the league and the club and there will be just one Under 15 team at the Green this coming season. The Under 14s will play in a small division of 4 teams, meeting each other four times plus a cup competition.
I have decided upon a set of 18 players, each with differing qualities, to take part in the pre-season friendlies and then we kick off on in the league on Saturday 7 September. This is the list of players I will be looking to develop as individuals and as a squad and win silverware:

Austen Brandon
Aydin Mazlum
Barrett Mitchell
Bourne Brandon
Bryant Luke
Burton Louis
Cambridge James
Chapman Reece
Cheesman Jack
Hills Alfie
May Max
Messenger Tom
Reay Charlie
Sorrell Tyler
Thorpe Nathan
Twyman Josh
Wilson Kieran
Zureiqi Amir

This means that Rhys Christopher, Pom, Marley Edmed, Kieran Slattery and Jordan Taylor will not be asked to sign. It is particularly hard on Rhys and Pom who, when they attend training, show they could develop into useful players … but there is the key: I will only pick those who train regularly.

So, I have added seven new players to last season’s squad and I believe it is stronger and much more mature than in the past.

Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Fixtures tab as that is where information will be published first regarding friendlies. At the time of writing (26 July) we have three really challenging friendlies.

26 July 2013: I am getting tired of ‘gossipers’ and rumour spreaders who don’t know the facts about certain things. For example, the league has still to make a decision on whether there is an Under 14 division next season and this obviously affects us as, if we have two Under 15 sides, then it makes sense for some of ours to mix in with Josh’s squad. But I can’t possibly sort things out until I know what the league is doing.

Bromley Green FC U15s training record 2013

Thursday 18 July 2013: U15s reminder from DH: Karen or Erica need a copy of your passport or birth certificate and two passport-size photos. We do need a parental signature but if it comes to it I will bring the form round your house to get it signed. Annual subs have been pegged for another season at £25 so please bring that as well.

Bromley Green 9-1 Ashford United
By Dave Homewood
Full credit to our visitors who, despite playing a year up, put on an impressive display of pass and move football. However, they were often overrun by our physical presence … a reversal of roles really as so often last season we were the ones being shoved around.
16 July 2013 Tuesday at the ground[6] James CambridgeUnited arrived at Waterside with a long unbeaten run under their belts but early marauding by Reece, Amir and James [left] saw them conceding at regular intervals. Changes at half time to give everybody a run-out did not alter our shape and, considering a fair number of the squad were missing for different reasons, there were plenty of positives to be taken. I can’t remember who scored all of the goals but Amir, Reece, Tom, Pom and Josh (with a piledriver) were amongst those on target.
We will continue to experiment with the line-up and Kieran at the back looks solid although he must stop bitching at refs when things don’t go his way! All-in-all this was a promising performance that suggests we are on the right track … but we are not there yet. Thanks go to Mazlum and Josh for helping with the goals and referee Jamie Hurst.
See you all at training on Thursday 6-7pm.
Green: Nathan (Louis); Charlie, Mitchell, Kieran, Luke, Tyler, Tom, Brandon A, Pom, Reece, Alfie, Jimbo, Amir
