U13s Colts 2014-2015

4.10.2014 9

Bromley Green Colts compete in the Ashford & District Youth Football League and are sponsored by John Page Trailers and KAP

26 May 2015: no training today

So very pleased with both teams in the South Ashford Tournament.

KAP Team A

Managed 3 wins (3 clean sheets) and only lost the one game taking them into the quarter finals against Wye.

Wye held us off to a goalless draw even though we looked the stronger team – Penalties it was and unfortunately the first 5 were saved or missed and Wye went through with the last kick at goal!

Goals from Reece, Ben, Alex and Scott.

Player of the tournament could have been anyone but Ben for me just gets it for trying harder than ever!

A fantastic display and one that everyone should be proud of.

KAP Team B

Another great display with only one loss and one goal let in all tournament, the other 3 games were goalless draws against some tough opponents.

Ryan kindly managed this team on the day and did a great job – I did see 95% of the games as we were lucky enough to be on the pitches next to each other.

Ryan has advised me today that his player of the tournament goes to Lewis (even though he let his head drop) as he gave a great performance in every game.

Both teams did really well and next season is starting to look really good when you combine the talents.

Thanks again to a great bunch of parents/carers/brothers/sisters – you are a pleasure to be with and make this team what it is!

Cheers Dunk

Sunday 17 May 2015 please meet at Waterside 11.15am prior to the tournament at Homelands

Bromley Green Colts 0 – Wye Juniors 5

Report from Duncan

What can I say…….

Today’s game was a shocker for me as we had issues right from the off.

First blow of the day was losing Finley due to a back problem (get better soon pal) and with Luke and Alex who have both been out for various reasons and not being match fit starting on the bench and Aaron out for the game!!!

Anyhow, the game started better than expected with the first 15 minutes being end to end stuff and both teams having good opportunities but it would be Wye who put the first goal in! Heads dropped, basics forgotten, discipline lost and any heart or spirit we have shown this season completely forgotten.

Our fitness and hunger let us down as we were 2nd to every ball and outpaced all over the pitch.

The Colts had not turned up at all!

Players arguing with the ref and to be honest we were lucky not to have a few cards by the end of the game – more than anything it unsettled the team even more and by the end of the game we had lost 5-0!

Very disappointing to be honest – from every player out there today. I was speechless. Possibly the worst all round performance we have put in!

Player of the match goes to Keeley – she played a good half and has impressed for nearly every game of the season! Well done Keeley.

Lots to say but I will leave it for training Tuesday (back at Waterside).

We have 2 games left and I really want a full squad to choose from so that we can go out and grab 6 points! I know we can win BUT, its down to you all on the day to go out and do what needs to be done as a TEAM!

Keel;ey is our Player of the Match but home team Wye deservedly came out comfortable winners today

Tenterden 3 – Bromley Green Colts 6

This week we faced Tenterden away and I knew it was going to be a tough game – both teams had players missing and all I wanted from the players was a good performance.

We started the game off strongly and managed to 2-0 up in the first 15 minutes with Goals from Reece and George. The defence was working well with Louis shining in CB for us (Luke R still out with injury).

We gave away a free kick on the 20th minute and Tenterden were back in the game with a cracking strike – 2-1!

Ben Scored another for us taking it to 3-1 and then another goal from Tenterden making it 3-2 to us at half time!

A great first half but if we were to grab 3 points we all knew that we needed to dig deep and carry on scoring goals!

Second half started well but after 10 minutes Tenterden equalised which rocked the team a little!

Credit to the Colts they gave it everything they had and Reece managed another goal and so did Ben.

5-3 into the closing minutes …

Ben broke away down the right hand side with the ball as Aaron tracked him down the left, a lovely switch ball from ben put Aaron in on goal only to be brought down in the box!!

After a few discussions and a few lads stepping up to take it (and 2 wanting their hat trick) they decided Aaron should take it. He stepped up and slotted it home for his first goal with the Colts and our 6th of the game!

The game ended 6-3 to the Colts.

Today was the most pleasing game I have watched – not just because we won but how we acted as a team – everyone did the best they could and they looked like a really good TEAM for the first time this season.

The highest points we have ever had – the highest scoring game we have ever had!

Well done everyone – Myself, Hana, Ryan and Ben are so proud of you!

Player of the match once again could have been anyone of the team but for us today it had to go to Aaron, he was playing an outstanding game, assisting, defending and scoring – Well done pal.

Reece, Ben and George had great games and scored some great goals.

Louis Captained the team very well and did not look out of place in CB.

Dan and Fin both had good games in goal.

Jack H, Tobias, Cade and Luke C put up a great fight in defence.

Lewis, Jayden and Jack L were solid in Midfield and worked hard for the team.

3 more games left – Wye, Tankerton and Smeeth & Brabourne, I expect every player to be avail for these last few games and for us to finish on a high. This is YOUR team so make sure we do it together. Well done and thanks.

Aaron is PoM for the 13 Colts today in the great 6-3 win at Tenterden

Bromley Green 2 – Mersham 6

This week we welcomed Mersham to Waterside and I knew it would be a great test for us. Last game we lost 12-1 and previously it has been as bad as 18-0!

We started the game strong and looked to be having a great deal of the ball. The team held off the opposition and even managed to score first after 13 minutes with a goal from Ben (well done pal).

3 minutes later Alex put us 2-0 up (well done pal).

Mersham responded well and managed to claw 1 back – 2-1 at the break.

2nd half and Mersham came out strong – they dominated for the 35 minutes and made us pay by putting 5 more past us! We suffered through subs due to injury and just giving up. Midfield once again went missing!

This was to be the final score and whilst it hurts losing after going ahead for the 1st half I am pleased once again with the progression!

With Luke still out with the Achilles injury George took the role of CB for me and did a sterling job – well done fella).

Player of the Match was Luke C for never giving up and being consistent in every game he plays – well done.

This week we face Hawkinge again but at home so I hope we can grab the 3 points (I know we can).

Well done Colts – a great performance!

14th March 2015

Bromley Green Colts  3 – Hawkinge 4

Very little to say about this game – the referee spoilt what should have been a very good game!

Infact it ended up being one of the worst displays of refereeing I have seen with bad decisions costing us goals!

We had however managed to go 2-0 up in the first half which was positive indeed.

Goals from Alex, Ben and George kept the spirits up.

Luke R coming off with 10 minutes to go unsettled the defence and we conceded 2 quick goals to give Hawkinge the win.

Player of the Match goes to George B for a great performance.

Onwards and Upwards

7 March 2015: Inter-club derby

Green v Green once more and after looking at recent score lines I was just hoping we had progressed enough to put up a decent battle.

Warm up went well and I managed to get some focus into the team and a little belief. With the early news that Jack H was out ill and Ethan and Jayden both out we needed a player to step up for the team and play out of position and Reece did exactly that!

The game soon started and the Colts looked relaxed, in fact more relaxed that I have seen them. They all knew what was needed and did their jobs far better than I had imagined! Bromley Green tried everything they could to find a goal and for 17 minutes we held them off and they managed 2 goals in 4 minutes. To be fair it could have been 2-2 with a couple of great chances for Alex but some superb goalkeeping denied us the goals we longed for.

Half Time and it was only 2-0 and what a great 1st half it had been.

2nd half saw a change around and it was time for Dan to play his first full half in goal for us and he did not disappoint with some great saves (especially that top left hander I seem to keep mentioning).

We continued to battle it out and the defensive display against a strong attacking team was brilliant, the back line worked the offsides well and the overall positioning from every player was spot on. A couple of mistakes cost a couple more goals and the final score ended up at 6-0.

Considering last time we lost 10-0 it shows just how far the Colts have come once more! The progression is there for all to see and I am proud of every player. The training sessions are obviously working!

Credit to Bromley Green – they deserved the win and are a very good team, I hope they manage the double this season and to be fair I cannot see anyone stopping them.

Today’s derby was the best I have seen the Colts play – normally we stand off and give too many yards but that did not happen at all! We stood up to the challenge for the full 70 minutes which is all I could ask for! We also look outpaced against some of the better teams but today we looked almost on par and that is awesome!

Player of the match could have been anyone of the 15 and It was a difficult choice once more, Reece/Ben/Keeley/Luke/Luke/Jack/Cade/George all stood out for me but today I chose Dan. He has only played 10 minutes in goal before and he only wants to be a keeper! We have coached him for less than 6 months and he has listened to everything we have taught him. Today he looked like a lad who had played in goal for years. His hunger for this role shines through and I have no doubt he will go far!

I am happy with every player and if we can play like this against the teams left  I think we have a number of wins left for us to grab! Everyone worked well together even through the mistakes that were made!

Well done to all the supporters and helpers.

Next week we are away to Hawkinge, this will be a tough game but I am certain if we play like this we will bring home the points!

ADYFL U13 Cup Game

Bromley Green Colts 5-8 Smeeth & Brabourne (aet)

Report by Duncan Randall

Well we arrived at Sellindge at 1pm and had a look at the pitch and to be honest we were all sinking into the ground just standing still, it really was awful but there was no way that myself and Paul (S&B manager) were going to let this be decided by the toss of a coin so it was game on. Any other day this would of course been called off!

The usual warm up and team talk and we were off and this game was not going to disappoint! For 70 minutes it was end to end football in tricky conditions, the ball wasn’t bouncing as normal and was skipping across the pitch but both teams did extremely well and could not be faulted. 1-0  to BGC, 1-1, 2-1 to BGC, 2-2, 3-2 to BGC, 4-2 to BGC, 4-3, 4-4, 5-4 to BGC and then 5-5 with 10 minutes to play! Both teams tried and tried to break the deadlock but it wasn’t to be so we entered into extra time – 10 minutes each way!

By this time it was clear to see that all the players were tired and S&B just had the edge with a couple of players and they came away winners after 90 minutes of great football. We were all gutted, tired, cold and very muddy but it was one of the best games of football I have seen for a long time a real cup tie with everything you want from a game. I am not sure we could have done much more on the day except finish a few more chances in front of goal and tighten up at the back but overall it was brilliant!

Finn – great game – very positive.

Louis – great game – superb throws!

Cade – great game – worked hard and gave a top performance.

Keeley – outstanding first half.

Jack H – one of the best players on the pitch – I still believe this is his best season yet!

Luke R – great game – solid throughout and played some superb football.

Ben – Player of the Match – some outstanding first touches!

George – fantastic game – caused problems all over the pitch. Scored 1

Jack L – Wow! Listened to me in training and did what I asked of him and as a result created lots of opportunities! Scored 2

Reece – great game, gave everything and deserved so much more. Scored 1

Alex – exactly what I want from a striker – hungry for goals and always looking for the opportunities. Scored 1

Tobias – really strong, becoming a great player.

Lewis – another great game from a consistent player, does everything we want him to and more.

Luke C – Awesome, never fails to amaze me!

Thank you to every one of you on the pitch today – you gave it all and whilst it wasn’t quite enough to get a win today the progression is once again clear for everyone to see.

There are a few tips that I will share at training ;o)

Well done.

No training at Highworth this Tuesday (17.2.2015) but I am planning a training session Thursday morning 9-10 for the squad only at Waterside. Duncan.

Match date: 7 February 2015

Bromley Green Colts 2-2 Biddenden Juniors

Report from Duncan Randall

After 9 weeks since we last played a competitive game of football it was nice that we finally managed to get a game on.

With Alex out and 3 players making their debuts I had no idea what the result would be but I did know the Colts would be well up for a good game.

First half was end to end and to be honest both teams looked like scoring. Opportunities in front of goal for the Colts where just not taken and these were to be costly as the final whistle blew.

A few early subs needed to be made which threw the whole team but we came in at half time 0-0.

Team talk done and back out we went and we looked better, just lacking composure in front of goal. Reece broke the deadlock and scored 2 for us (well done pal).

Biddenden came back with an unstoppable free kick (one of the best goals I have seen this season to be honest) and then a simple tap in making it 2-2!

The Colts stepped up the pace and had a few more shots on goal and in the last minute a goal that was not to be – off the cross bar bounced in and back out for the linesman and ref to not give it, a fumble in goal that could have been a penalty as Aaron got smacked in the face for the ball to roll out for a corner … however the ref gave a goal kick and this was to be the last piece of play. The ref actually admitted he did not see it clearly as his main focus was on the keeper and making sure he was safe – cant say fairer than that I suppose?

So we came away with a point which to be fair I am pleased with (we should have won as we were definitely the better team). A good all round performance with a team that are looking better and better as the weeks roll by.

Debuts from Aaron, Ethan and Dan today and they looked good. Special mention to Dan and Finn today – When we signed Dan we agreed to get him trained up for a goalkeeper but play him in a mix of outfield and in goal, on the day he just wanted to play in goal which messed up my plans a little but I admire his determination – he came on and looked great to be honest and I think he is going to be fantastic. Finn was fantastic and actually said it was ok if Dan wanted to go in goal. I admire this so much and it cements the attitude that I am trying to instil in these players.

We are a team – we look out for each other on and off the pitch and if we continue like this we are going to be fantastic, more fantastic than we already are!

The whole team were great – defence did very well and only made a couple of mistakes.

Midfield went missing a little and took time to get back – we need to work on this guys as it gave too much space for the opposition to play in, saying that there was some excellent runs down the wings, Jayden and Lewis looked better than ever and really brought something to the game.

Two-goal Reece
Two-goal Reece

Luke R did some great work just sitting in front of the defence and playing some lovely balls forward also putting in some great tackles and protecting the defence.

Attack looked good – we created chances (even though they may not have ended up as goals) which is a good place to be. We have pace which is great!

Player of the match for me today was Reece [pictured], always looking for the chance to break and score or set up and it’s this hunger we need. Scoring both our goals today as well. Well done pal – top work.

A great return to football guys – well done!

Bromley Green Colts v Tenterden – midweek update

This Saturday the Colts hope to play their first game for a number of weeks, let’s hope the weather does not ruin our plans!

I know that Tenterden are working hard to find a pitch for us to play on and it may well be Benenden but this is to be confirmed.

If all goes to plan and we have a game, we will have our 2 new signings making their debuts – Aaron and Dan. Welcome to the Colts gents, I hope you enjoy your football.

Training has been well attended over the last couple of weeks and whilst we have been frustrated with the lack of pitch time I am certain on the day we will look sharp.

Those in the squad for Saturday please make sure you give your all, 100% effort from everyone. We must all work hard for each other and make certain we get the most out of this fixture.

Good Luck Bromley Green Colts

Bromley Green 2-4 New Romney

Saturday 29 November

Report By Duncan Randall

This week we welcomed our friends New Romney to Waterside for what was always going to be a great test of how far the Colts have come this season.

With most of the squad available (with the exceptions of Ethan who is recovering and Alex whose last match of suspension was today) Hana took the warm up whilst Ryan worked his magic with Finn.

The game started well with everyone getting their jobs done quickly and efficiently and the reward was an early goal from George 6 minutes in. The battle did not let off for the whole game and it was clear the Colts wanted something out of this game.

New Romney managed to equalise 21 minutes into the 1st half. A few positional changes made and we managed to find the back of the net on the 35th minute with a superb cross from Reagan to Reece who bagged his 1st goal for the Colts (well done pal). How we managed to carry on playing past 35 minutes I am not sure but New Romney managed to equalise into the 38th minute and in my opinion this is the turning point of the game.

2nd Half and the battles continued all over the pitch with everyone getting the job done very well. An early goal in the 1st minute of the second half put NR 3-2 up! A couple of missed opportunities from the Colts and positioning being a little adrift we just let them in more times than I would have liked. New Romney found their 4th goal on the 60th minute and the score ended up 4-2.

I can honestly say that the score line flattered New Romney as I strongly believe we were the better team on the day. However I have always said that they are a team that gets the job done very well and will find a win even when you don’t expect them too. Credit to them, they did find the win today and as always its great to play a nice bunch of lads.

Last season we lost 7-1 and 8-0 to New Romney so 4-2 is brilliant, I am over the moon as I think every player gave me and the team 100% and with a few tweaks I am certain we can grab the win next week when we face NR again.

You look so good as a team and its clear to me that the things we are doing are starting to work!!

So many contenders for Player Of The Match – Finn for some great saves, Reagan for being everywhere, Jack and Jack for digging deep and making some great play, Luke R for strength and great Captaincy, Luke C for getting stuck in as always, Cade for being amazing – I can keep going but I will save some for training Tuesday (if I have missed you please do not think you were not good as you ALL were).

My choice on the day was Lewis, He gave 110% and played simple but effective football! Little one twos back to Louis and some great movement, Well done pal.

Let’s go again folks – I can’t wait ;o)

Match date 22 November 2014

Kick off 11am

Mersham v Bromley Green Colts

Preview by Duncan Randall

This weekend we make the short trip to Mersham in what will be a great test of our progression this season.

I am positive we will put up a great battle as long as the weather does not stop the fixture being played. After such a strong start to the season I am keen to get going again after recent postponements and our loss to BG so the team need to get in the right frame of mind in advance of Saturday.

All I want from the Colts is our best and that goes for every game we play, we know we won’t win every game we play but we can go out and give 100% from start to finish. That way we know we were beaten by the better team and not down to our own efforts.

As always I am so proud of this team – we have come a long way and moved in the right direction with respect and courtesy. The team, the parents, the managers and coaches all conduct themselves in a professional fashion at all times and I can ask no more.

Match day is about the team and no matter what, we do it together! Win, Lose or Draw lets have some fun and enjoy our 70 minutes on the pitch.

Pull the shirt on with pride and play with passion and determination!

Bromley Green 10 – Bromley Green Colts 0

Saturday 1st November

Green derby and a fixture no one really enjoys as much as all the other games but it is always a good test for both teams.

With the recent news of Alex having a 3 match ban and a number of players missing due to injuries and holidays it was clear to see that today was going to be a lot tougher than already predicted.

The warm up went well and the team looked confident – more confident in fact than I thought we would be. Hana and Ryan both did very well settling any nerves during this time.

Reece and Jack looked good for their debuts and I am sure they will only grow and grow in confidence.

The game started and within 13 minutes we were 4-0 down, not the start we had hoped for and it was clear to see that most of the players had stepped off and were giving BG too much space. The shape had been forgotten and the opposition were given a few easy opportunities.

Credit to BG though as they played some very very good football around us.

For the rest of the first half we held them off very well and frustrated them a little but chances that came our way were very few and far between.

Half time team talk and we were out again with a few changes but an early goal in the second half pretty much closed the deal for BG as the Colts stepped off even more and with a couple more knocks meaning players had to come off we just could not settle. Luke gave away a penalty when he pulled back one of BG players in the box (I don’t mid a bit of physicality, to be honest its nice to see as long as its not dangerous in any way) which Finn saved very well. In fact Finn made a number of great saves and really manned up considering how he looked before the game with jet lag – thanks pal. Luke R had a hard job today at the back but kept his cool and looked confident all the way through. Luke C again had a great game again. Reece looks dangerous and I can’t wait to see him in action again. Reagan was very good once again. I won’t mention you all here but I will at training.

Player of the match goes to Tobias who really is starting to grow in ability and confidence – well done pal.

I do not think the Colts were anywhere near their best today – not by a long shot and I do believe we will be stronger for the return fixture.

However, I have said since the start of the season that BG are going to be the league winners this year and I strongly believe that – they are a very good team that on a good day are unbeatable – a massive well done to them all for a great win.

Colts – we now need to regroup and put this behind us right away – we need to look forwards to the games ahead and we do it as a team.

We are still 4th and still have the best start for us ever in a season! Let’s get back on track and get some more wins!

Training will now be on Tuesdays from 6-7pm at Highworth astro

Match report
Sat 11th Oct 2014
Biddenden 2-5 Bromley Green
After last weeks defeat to Wye I knew we had to bounce back quickly so training had been very focused and more intense than normal. I needed to get the discipline back and fast.
The trip to Biddenden was a nervous one as the rain had already meant that games were being called off. The news that George was in a cast due to a possible break added to our casualty list within the team and we wish both George and Ethan a speedy recovery.
Warm ups taken by Hana and Ryan went very well and the team seemed well up for it and pre game team talk from myself focused them on the task. They looked relaxed and happy!
The game started well and both teams looked lively and it was 10 minutes before the Colts broke the deadlock, Alex finding the back of the net.
On the 18th Alex bagged his second and then his third on the 33rd minute.
Biddenden managed to grab one back before the break with a well taken free kick.
Half time and a few changes made, Alex had a goal disallowed for offside which actually should have been allowed! Biddenden came back strong and scored there second which was blatantly offside.
With the score line at 3-2 to the Colts our comfortable lead was being eaten into so a few changes made and lots of encouragement from myself was required. The team responded well with 2 more goals from Alex!
Defence, midfield and attack all worked so well today and did it all together!
The game ended 5-2 but should have read 6-1 in my eyes.
Another fine win, another 3 points, another happy team! Well done.
Great games from all but special mentions to Finn, Jack, Cade and Tobias who impressed today.
Player of the Match had to be 5 goal hero Alex.
We face S&B next week which will be a very tough game but I know you love the challenge.

4.10.2014 A defeat today to Wye … Duncan’s report to follow …

Disappointing news! West Farleigh cannot raise a side for Saturday and therefore we have no match at the weekend

Training as normal tonight, Thursday 25 September 2014

Well done Jack!

Saturday 20th September 2014

Bromley Green Colts 4 Tenterden 1

After last week’s brilliant start to the season I was not sure that it could be topped – how wrong could I have been!

Early start at Waterside setting up the pitch and my thanks go to Martin for helping out (cheers pal).

The team arrived at just after 9 and we managed to get straight into the warm up/stretching and some ball control – Hana took most of this and did a great job as always and Ryan got to work with Finley.

We all seemed quite relaxed and up for it.

Tenterden had a few key players missing but this was still going to be a tough game as we had lost 5-2 and 10-2 last season, they are a good side and not to be underestimated.

With the game under way we settled very fast and managed to keep the possession and away from goal, 10 minutes in and we had grabbed our first goal of the game with George getting on the score sheet.

Shortly after this we had a double blow as Reagan pulled up with a muscle complaint and George being sick. Early subs made and we carried on where we left off – Alex coming on and instantly finding the back of the net on the 21st minute. What was really nice here is that 2 key players had to come off but with the change we still looked as strong which just goes to prove that there are no weak links. Everyone works so well and as a team too!

Into half time and we were winning 2-0, not the normal for the Colts but a most welcome change and I could tell by the smiles on the faces that we were all enjoying it. George and Reagan back on and a swap with Tobias and Keeley and it was back out there.

Luke R once again captained the side very very well and managed to settle nerves whenever they crept in, he stayed solid at the back for the entire game winning some great battles and calmly clearing the ball. Nearly managed to get on the score sheet in the second half from a well taken corner.

Reagan was working hard down the left and causing Tenterden all sorts of nightmares. In fact the whole team worked fantastically!

9 minutes into the 2nd half and Alex once again found the back of the net – 3-0!

Now, a defensive error and a brief lapse of concentration let Tenterden score an easy goal and for a few minutes we were in a state of shock. But the team sorted it out and on the 70th minute Ben Tinker used his outstanding pace down the left hand side to create a superb opportunity and George had the easy task of tapping the ball over the line (I say easy – the positioning was awesome! Right place right time).

As the final whistle blew we had won 4-1 and I could not be happier.

Player of the match – Once again it could have been anyone – Luke R for being a rock at the back and captaining his team once again to another win, Luke C for being one of the hardest workers out there, Reagan for having the legs to constantly run at pace and never back down, Alex and George for scoring, Lewis and Jayden for outstanding midfield play, and all the others not getting a mention (you were all brilliant!)

For me on the day it had to be Jack, I spoke to him before the start of the game because we were missing both Ben and Ethan (hope you are back soon from the wrist break!) which meant I needed some pace and a cool head at left back. He agreed and really stepped up to the plate. For pretty much all of the game Jack was getting hold of the ball and making runs with Reagan down that left side creating opportunities with only a few minor mistakes (sometimes we just need to clear it out). Overall Jack was outstanding and I thank him so much for this game. Once again pal you owned that wing/left back role. Well done mate, I know you want the goals but this means as much to the team I promise you.

It just goes to show that this season its not all about the scorers (although without you it would be a different story!), players all over the pitch are making a massive difference and those who are not in a position for goals are still key to the success!

Reagan, Alex, Tobias, Luke C – you have all settled in very well and are making a massive difference to this team (as will Ethan when he returns).

Thanks for a most memorable game ;o)

Next game – West Farleigh Away!

Saturday 13th September 2014

Bromley Green Colts 4 Tankerton 0

At last our season has kicked off albeit a week later than the rest of the league, its good to finally get going again.

First game in the 11 vs 11 format and I could only hope that the training and fitness we had been working on would pay off. The new signings had settled into the team well but we had not seen the team together as a whole due to holidays.

So Tankerton greeted us and the warm ups were under way, Ryan looked after Finley and Hana put the rest of the team through stretches etc. Both my assistants need a massive well done as they really are making a big difference to this team!

Game was away and all I could hope for was a good start and within 2 minutes Reagan had given us just that by grabbing an early goal. This settled our nerves and we kept our heads and our shape keeping the ball in the middle of the pitch.

30 minutes in and Alex managed to take us 2-0 up. Going into the break the confidence was showing and the Colts realised just how far we had come!

2nd half and a few changes made, what was nice to see was the changes did not disrupt the play at all and the fresh legs and positional changes kept Tankerton at bay.

Ben Tinker found the back of the net 6 minutes into the 2nd half which gave us a great lead and hopefully a win? The next period of play saw Luke C hit the post, Jack hit the cross bar and lots of opportunities created from all over the pitch. All I hoped for now was a clean sheet, the defence was solid with Luke working them very well with everyone listening and communicating. To be honest Luke Captained the game very well indeed and gave lots of vocal encouragement and instructions for all players.

Reagan grabbed his second goal of the game on the 66th minute and shortly after the game was done. First win, first clean sheet, first 3 points.

Player of the match – could have been one of a few. Reagan for his 2 goals, Luke C for an outstanding performance, Luke R for fantastic defending and Captaincy, Cade for keeping with the runs etc … The TEAM were brilliant and not one weak link!

For me today Finley was outstanding and kept us in the game with some great diving saves and timing so well done pal. Great clean sheet ;o)

To my team – Thank you for a great performance all round, all the hard work is paying off and you all looked so good out there today. Well done!

Next game – Tenterden at home!

Pre Season Friendly

Bromley Green Colts 0 – New Romney 4

Today we welcomed Andy and the team from New Romney for our first game on the full size pitches at 11 a side.

Recent training sessions with the Colts have been going very well with focus being fitness and shape so I was hoping for a good display.

Both teams had the bare minimum 11 with no subs to bring on as legs tired and the Colts were missing a few key players including strikers.

The game started and it was clear to see that this was going to be a great battle, both teams played well.

End to end play for the entire duration and if I am honest the majority of the play was in the central third of the pitch – just where I wanted it and much better than I had hoped.

At around 19 minutes into the game NR scored but the Colts did not let it affect their spirits (last season it would have been a different story). 45 minutes in (approx.) NR scored again and both goals were just down to silly mistakes.

Tired legs and no subs meant that the last 5 minutes NR had the edge and 2 more goals found the back of the net.

Final score was 4-0 to New Romney, a deserved win to be fair but there was very little in it.

Player of the match was Luke C (well done pal), but to be honest it was a close call with every player on the pitch (I refuse to give it to the team which is what Hana and Ryan F wanted to do).

The Colts can definitely hold their heads up high and look forward to the start of the season especially as we look towards the 5 players who were missing today – we have strength all over the pitch!!

Fitness will be key as we near the start and of course that team bonding needs to happen but I am excited after what I have witnessed today.

Lots of positives that I am sure the team are bussing about.

With so many players away on holiday I am struggling to field a team for friendlies but am hoping to get a couple more in once we can!

Bromley Green Colts 2 – Bromley Green 8

Match Date : Friday 2nd May 2014

This week it was time again for the Green vs Green Derby and we had managed to book the game for a Friday evening.

The warm up went well and the Colts looked up for this fixture. Pre match team talk and all I asked of the players was to go out there and do your best and have fun, keep the deficit to under 10!!We all know how good Bromley Green are and that they can play some very good football!

The game started well with the Colts defending as a unit and letting nothing get through – about 10 minutes in BG scored the 1st goal but we had kept them out for a very long time and the heads did not drop! We managed to equalise with a goal from Liam (well done pal) and we all went mad – you would have thought we had won! At the break the Colts were 3-1 down but that first half was the best we have played all season.

Second half started well but it was clear that we were in for a tough 2nd half. We tired a little and just gave that extra yard that BG needed to play some good football around us. As we tired the positioning went a little wrong but that is me being over critical. Jack (well done mate)managed to get our second goal of the game and we finished off losing 8-2. Only 6 goals kept us apart!

Now – what happened in this game is testament to all the hard work we have put in this season in games and training and shows the progression the Colts have made. Now we know we can play like that we must do our best to make sure we do that in very game we play.

Most definitely, this will be the game of the season for me for lots of reasons. The main reason is everyone in the Colts looked as though they enjoyed the game and gave their all! Thank you. It matters not the score or the outcome as long as we do our best. The wins will come as we continue to get better and build on this great little team.

Player of the match could have been a few of you but Finley deserved it for making a number of fine saves and for battling on after a knock to the head stopping the game for a few minutes.

Congratulations to Ian, Martin and the team for a great game and a good win.

Thanks also to all the supporters for making this an enjoyable evening.

Happy Days

Bromley Green Colts 1-4 Smeeth & Brabourne

Match Date 26th April 2014

Today we welcomed Smeeth and Brabourne to Waterside and it was always going to be a good game – I knew the colts would be well up for this fixture and they did not let me down at all.

A few changes in how we played and all I wanted the team to focus on was good defence and goal scoring.

The game started well and we seemed to be getting a lot of possession, it was clear to see that we wanted this as we kept breaking the play down and gaining control. Defence worked really well and with Luke sitting just in front not much was getting through.

The chances kept coming throughout the 60 minutes and to be fair we could have scored a number of times which is really encouraging, it means that as a team we were finally getting the job done and working together.

We managed to grab a goal when a nice link up between Luke and Liam meant that Liam could put George B in on goal – nice work lads.

Some silly mistakes all over the pitch led to the goals we conceded – 4 in total. Those who made the mistakes know what they need to do in future.

All in all this was possibly the best game of football we have played to date and I am pleased with every player. Nice to hear the positive feedback from parents, managers and officials.

2 games left and we know they are going to be tough, I do know that if we play like we did today then we will be able to hold our heads high whatever the score may be.

Player of the Match was a tough call today as there was a number of great performances – today it had to be George B as he created so much for the team and just did not give up. Well done pal.

I cannot ask any more of the team today – they gave us everything out there and for that I am grateful. We lost but it felt like a win to me.

Well done Colts

New Romney 8-0 Bromley Green

By Duncan Randall

Saturday we journeyed to New Romney in what I knew was going to be a tough fixture as they are sitting high up in the league (2nd I believe).

The Colts seemed well up for the challenge and the warm up went well.

15 minutes in and we had seen a lot of the ball and even created chances but just could not find the back of the net, it was still 0-0. However New Romney caught us out on the break and started the tally of goals.

We looked good at times in this match but again midfield need to close the gap between them and the defence as every time there was too much space being given away. All players need to start their runs sooner rather than waiting for the ball to go over their heads!

The team lost their edge for the next 40 minutes and 8 goals went in past us but the most encouraging part of the game is that they never gave up and battled in the last 5-10 minutes getting more chances again!! We could have scored a couple today but it wasn’t to be!

Still lots to work on for the last few games of the season and if we can get a full 60 minutes of passion, attention and all round hard work with no panic we will be a strong force!

Its always nice to play New Romney and I congratulate them on a great game and a fine win.

We must not feel disappointed at all as we lost to the better team on the day and have to remember where they are in the league!! Both the ref and the New Romney manager had fine things to say about us – we just need to keep learning and building!

After the game we had a bit of fun in the way of a penalty shoot-out for both teams and ALL players including managers, I have no idea what the overall score was as it was just a bit of fun but some great saves from Fin and some fine goals scored. Mine was saved!

Player of the match today goes to Louis who worked hard throughout – well done pal.

Report by Duncan Randall

After last week’s defeat to West Farleigh all I hoped for was as much effort in today’s game as the team could give and to start listening!

Right from the off we looked better than normal and I hoped we could keep it up as we needed to get a result.

The defence looked strong and midfield were working hard linking up with the back 4 and feeding the ball in on goal. We were creating chances and we missed a few easy goals….. I knew deep down that the first goal would soon come and it did! So badly I wanted a second before the break but it was not to be.

Second half and we had a few shaky moments where we lost concentration but the team dug deep and worked together to get the job done – with not much of the game left we managed to score to give us a 2 goal lead and all we needed to do was shut up shop and defend which we did very well!

So goals from Ben Tinker (first goal of the season) after 13 mins and Liam after 56 minutes saw us take the 3 points we so deserved and take us to 10 points for the season with 3 wins and a draw.

If we can tighten up on the little mistakes and keep our concentration we stand a great chance of beating anyone in this league!!! Add to that the passion, hunger and determination that I know we all have and a pinch of luck we will get some more points this season!

And if not … we will have a lot more fun along the way.

A couple of mentions: Jack had a great game and ran his socks off, well done mate. Luke captained his team well and for one of the first times this season everyone seemed to listen – well done pal.

Player of the Match goes to Finley who turned up with the right attitude and grabbed his first clean sheet of the season – massive well done!

Colts – this is a team sport and so we have to face the losses as a unit but it does mean we can ALL hold our heads high when we do get a result, well done to you all and thank you for not giving up!

Next we face West Farleigh at home … COYC!

What a day!
Myself and the Colts made the journey to East Farleigh to face West Farleigh for the first time this season. Confidence was high and training in the week was well attended with the right attitude shown.

As we turned up we were faced with larger goals than we are used to, a pitch that was on a steep slope and markings that were awful. The nets were sort of held down with bits of broken sticks and the ref had forgotten his flags so bibs had to be used for the linesmen.

Not the sort of start to a game that I had hoped for. Like everyone keeps telling me though the pitch is the same for both teams…

We lost 4-2 and definitely not to the better team! That said a massive well done to West Farleigh for taking their chances on the day.

Simple mistakes led to all of the 4 goals our rivals scored. We MUST continue to do the basics no matter who we play and we must work as a team!

22.3.2014 U12 Colts PoM Kieran Lowe[2]However, we did manage to score from 2 corners (well done Lewis and George B) which is encouraging and Liam had a number of opportunities including a well struck left footer that would have cost me a choccy bar had it gone in. Lewis had a good game as did George B who was really starting to control midfield with ease.

Player of the Match for me today was Kieron [pictured] who came on as a sub and kept his cool and his positioning! Well done pal.

We need to get our heads up and get ready for the next game (away to Hawkinge), I have so much faith and belief in this team and once the rest of the team realise we can do it we will have a blinder of a game.

The joy of football is that there is always the next game, the next week, the next session for us to prove ourselves and I know we will!

Come on Colts, time to dig deep!

Report by Duncan Randall
Today we welcomed Tenterden Tigers to waterside for a 9:30 kick off.
This being our first home game in almost 4 mths so it was nice to get back on the grass.
Within the first 5 minutes it was clear to see that this was not going to be a good day! Everything that I had asked and that went on in training went out of the window and the team pretty much played their own game!
4-0 down within 15 minutes and as much encouragement that I could muster from the side lines did very little but that said the positivity ran through the team for pretty much the whole team. Liam and George B managed to net one each before the break making it 5-2 to Tenterden.
With a good shake up at half time I had hoped that we could go out stronger in the 2nd but much of the same carried on and we finished 10-2 down. We need to take our chances when we face goal, as its goals that win the game. Credit has to go to Tenterden for playing a good game of football and walking away with a great result.
I don’t want to be too negative as there is always something good to come out of every game – we scored at least and that is a massive positive!
As a team we lost and as a team we will discuss what went wrong. Tuesday night at training I will give out Player of The Match and try to sort everything out ready for the next game.
Goals so far:
Liam – 11
Jack – 2
Luke – 2
George B – 2
Lewis – 1

Match date: 8 March 2014
Bromley Green 1-9 South Ashford
So today saw us make the short journey to Pitchside to face South Ashford and after 3 months without a game it was clear that the nerves were in us all.
This was always going to be a tough game as we lost 14-0 to this side earlier in the season so the main focus was to show improvement!
From the off it was clear to see that we were just not match fit and there was a lot of panic all over the pitch! That said with everything going on we had managed to keep the opposition to only 5 goals at half time (last time it was 8 at the break).
Second half was much the same but with 15 minutes to go and a few changes made by myself we started playing! We were managing to get out of our own half and put some great efforts in on goal (Ben, Jack and Keeley all had great chances). Defence were defending in packs and the team started to fight back rather than lying down and taking it. George netted his first goal for the Colts with a superb tight angled finish.
The score ended 9-1! A vast improvement on last time but we could have done much better had we found that fighting spirit a little earlier.
Player of the match was George B, not just for getting on the score sheet but for purely wanting to make a difference and fighting till the very end. Well done pal.
Let’s look forward to a run of games to get us back into the scoring/winning ways we so badly deserve

This Saturday we will finally get to play our first game for almost 3 months on the 3G and it cannot come quick enough. The Colts have some demons to bury in this game as we lost by a large margin in the reverse fixture.
I am very pleased with the attitude and attendance at training and I am sure the Colts will give a good account of themselves. If we all turn up on the day full of positivity then we may indeed turn the tables.
Regardless of score, let’s go out and have 60 minutes of fun, enjoy it folks.

Sorry but the weather has beaten us again and the game at Hawkinge on Saturday 1 March has been postponed

Message from Duncan re Saturday 1 March 2014

This week (weather permitting) we may actually get to play our first league game since 14th Dec!

Training has been going well and the friendlies have proved to be well worth the effort.

So Saturday we will make the journey to Hawkinge for a 10am kick off for what I am sure will be a good game.

Hawkinge are not to be underestimated and are chasing their first win of the season so I know they will be hungry for the 3 points.

The Colts have not won a game since we last played Hawkinge in September so we need to go all out for the win and ensure we grab the 3 points!

Hawkinge manager has said there will be a pitch inspection on Friday but they did play at the weekend (just gone) and all was fine.

Please meet by 8:30 at the clubhouse.

Cheers Dunk

Update 5pm Friday 24.1.2014: Fingers crossed … the game at Hawkinge is still on tomorrow … please meet in the clubhouse at 8.30am

Preview from Duncan for Saturday’s inter-club clash

Bromley Green Colts v Bromley Green

Once again we have the Green Derby this Saturday and I am looking forward to it if I am honest.

With the training being away from Waterside for the winter months it has meant that we have all missed the interaction with our club mates and I can’t wait to see how far we have all progressed.

It will be nice for the banter to start flowing with Ian and Martin who I know will have been working hard with the team since I last saw them play.

I know that the game will be played in the true spirit we are trying to teach the players and even though I know it’s going to be a tough fixture I hope both teams go out and give 100% and really enjoy the 60 minutes of pitch time.

Friendly: Saturday 4 January 2014 away to Wye Juniors with a 10am kick off … subject to some kind weather of course!

League Game
Report by Duncan Randall
This week’s game was to be a later kick off away to Biddenden and I really hoped we could put up another great performance against this team. We had managed to beat them earlier in the season so I knew we had a chance.
Biddenden have had some good results since we last played them, beating Tenterden Tigers and scoring against a few of the top teams so I knew it was going to be a tough game.
When we turned up it was clear to see the pitch was very heavy and looked quite small but it’s the same for both teams. With the added pressure of only 2 subs we kicked off.
It was clear to see early on that this was going to be a physical game and the first half proved difficult with Liam and Keeley pulling up and Finn taking hit after hit. Subs used early!
At the break we were 4-0 down but once again the Colts showed the determination that keeps us all smiling! After a honest team talk we went out into the second half and played some good football which is very encouraging. Liam played in Midfield and Luke also had a few minutes in Midfield, both looked good to be honest!
By the end of the game we had lost 6-0 (4-0 in the first half and 2-0 in the second half). A result that I was disappointed with simply because I was sure we could get a few goals today.
Credit to Biddenden as they did put up a great fight and closed us down very fast with some quick players.
There were some stand out players today for me – Ben Tinker played very well and almost scored, as did George H. Luke had a good game and Liam played one of his best to date for lots of reasons. Lots of positives once again out of today’s defeat.
Player of the Match today goes to Ben Tinker who is really looking good in midfield and in strike. Well done pal.
Liam – 10 goals so far
Jack – 2 goals so far
Luke – 2 goals so far
Lewis – 1 goal so far

League Game

Report by Duncan Randall

After last week’s display against Wye I really hoped that we could grab the maximum points at home against the same team and I knew we had it in us.

As the whistle blew at the start of the 1st half I was really excited as I thought we could grab a win for the 2 birthday boys in the squad Luke and Finley.

10 minutes in and it seemed the cruel game of football had different plans for us!

The team just did not do the jobs they needed to and we had defenders out of position and midfielders thinking they would go and sit up front, lots of silly mistakes and we found ourselves 2-0 down but with plenty of time to do what we needed too!

Heads dropped a little and we played the first half out, stern half time talk and back out. Within 45 seconds of the second half Wye netted another making the score 3-0!

Liam managed to score our only goal but Wye soon found another leaving the final score 4-1!

I must congratulate Wye for another great game and a great squad – they too are building and it is clear to see just how well Matt and John are doing, well done.

We missed chances, missed open goals, missed tackles, looked lazy. I know I walked away disappointed and I think that is about as honest as I can be but there were positives as always!

The second half was much better and to be honest the last 10 minutes were as good as I have seen this team. Passing and taking on players rather than always playing the long ball.

The Colts have the ability but still lack the determination and passion some weeks, look back to the Mersham game we gave everything or the Hawkinge game where we came back from 2-0 down to win, I know we can do it!

Finley – Great game – came out and won a lot of balls but don’t come out too much

Louis – Well done pal – great game and great positioning again

Luke – Good strong game with some great headers and free kicks.

Keeley – Good game if out of position in the first half!!

Cade – Good strong performance – great pace.

Lewis – Great second half show out wide!

Jayden – Good performance today, made some great runs.

Jack – Worked very hard – thank you

George B – good game – out of position in the first half and could have had a penalty in my eyes!

Liam – Another goal mate – well done. Don’t give up pal, keep battling.

Ben Tinker – Good game – worked hard and nearly scored

Ben Tipping – Good game – never gave up.

Player of the Match today goes to Jayden who looked really up for it today, keep it up. Well done pal.

Liam – 10 goals so far
Jack – 2 goals so far

Luke – 2 goals so far

Lewis – 1 goal so far

Massive shake up for our last game of 2013 – lets finish on a high folks, I know we can!

League Game
Report by Duncan Randall
Back to league duties this week and we faced Wye Juniors at Wye.
Now I am pleased to advise that just like ourselves, Wye have indeed been signing new players and I knew they would be up for a good battle and to be honest I was looking forward to the game.
As the game started we looked good and everyone seemed to be doing their jobs correctly and as a result we found ourselves 1-0 up, brilliant start. After more battling we soon took another goal and I was sure this was going to be a great day for us.
Just before the break we found ourselves out of position at the back for a brief second and Wye capitalised and started a come-back! 2-1 at the break with goals from Liam and a first goal for this season for Lewis.
Second half and I think it is fair to say we played even better football than the first but could not seem to find the back of the net. As we went into a bit of stoppage time and it looked like we had done it again we found ourselves caught out at the back and Wye scored the equaliser with the last kick of the game! Maybe a draw is a fair result as both teams played well but I am biased and I think we just had the edge. A massive well done to Wye as its always nice to see a close game played in the right way.
Its another point to add so I am pleased, very pleased in fact as we played some great football today!
So apart from a couple of mistakes we had a truly great game and you all made me proud!!
Finley – Great game – came out and won a lot of balls.
Louis – Well done pal – great game and great positioning.
Luke – Good strong game with some great headers and free kicks.
Keeley – Linked up very well with Luke – impressive.
Cade – Good strong performance – great pace.
Lewis – Really impressing me this season and a goal today as well!
Jayden – Good performance.
Jack – Showed some great skills today – nice flick on header!
George H – A couple of great balls played in attack, well done.
Liam – Another goal mate – well done.
Connor – Great performance and superb throw-ins.
Ben T – Showed pace and strength, is going to be dangerous in the second half of this season!
Player of the Match today goes to Ben T, He played very very well and utilised his pace just like we have been asking of him all season. He also took a big whack in the face but carried on and also another hard challenge a little later on in the game. I am certain we have not seen the best of Ben yet and goals will come but today he shone and worked hard for his team – well done pal.
I really look forward to facing Wye again this weekend at Waterside.
Liam – 9 goals so far
Jack – 2 goals so far
Luke – 2 goals so far
Lewis – 1 goal so far

New Romney had beaten us 6-0 only a month ago and so we knew it was going to be a tough call.
With a couple of players missing (including our captain, Luke) changes had to be made but we still looked good and “up for it”.
Having just looked at our last match report we previously went 1-0 down within 3 minutes and today we managed 24 minutes before the first goal went in against us. This is fantastic as it showed that we can keep them out and keep our shape.
Another 2 went in before the break which highlights that we struggle to get back into it when our heads drop a little.
2nd half changes were made and we managed to get 1 back thanks to good pressure from Liam but New Romney were just quicker on the break and by the final whistle had managed to get 7 past us.
There were some true moments of brilliance, link up play, great defending, great attacking with some superb moves on goal. So much to be honest that we need to focus on as a team and keep doing. We could have scored a few goals today and we really do need to take these chances when we get them.
As the game went on it was clear that our marking worsened and our speed to the ball was slower meaning we were pushed deeper and deeper. The midfield were slower to get back to assist as well which we must get better at.
What was great to see was the ball being played out wide and the width of the pitch being used which is exactly what we want.
Player of the match was Jack, who gave the team 100% and did not let his head drop once – that is what this team is about, well done and thank you!
Once again it was nice to hear so much positivity from other managers really bigging us up as a team, I know that does not win games but it does help to realise we are doing everything right and with patience and a bit of luck we will get results.
Finley – Superb keeper today – outstanding saves and used the width ;o)
Louis – Great game mate.
Cade – Great game, vocally brilliant.
Kieran – Great game.
Ben Tipping – Great game, very pleased
George Bailey – Great game again mate.
George Head – Great game, when he gets the ball he knows what to do.
Lewis – Has come on so much this season – some great attacking passes and getting back to help defend!
Jack – Attitude, passion, heart – was all there in abundance in this game. Best yet!
Liam – Great game – 1 goal to add to the tally. Well done.
Connor – Put in some great challenges, well done.
Jayden – Really grew as a player in the second half and made some great defensive play.
We missed the pace of Ben Tinker, the steady play from Keeley and the defence and leadership from Luke today but still managed to look dangerous in areas.

Bromley Green 2-5 Tenterden Tigers
2 November 2013
Report by Duncan Randall
So today we faced Tenterden Tigers for the first time in the league and to be honest none of us knew what to expect however their recent form indicated a tough game ahead!
As we arrived at the pitch in St Michaels the players seemed to be in really good spirit once again and I knew inside that no matter what we were going to have a good game – regardless of the state of the pitch that faced us!
Warm up went well and kick off saw the 60 minutes begin. We looked good to be honest and some great football was being played very early on. The long grass was slowing the ball up a little too much but we managed to get used to this quickly.
Tenterden pressed hard and had a few chances but it was to be the Colts who scored first only for it to be disallowed (even as the ref was writing it in his book) for offside! I was not in the best position to say either way but the linesman made the call! So we could/should have been 1-0 up but it was not to be.
The Colts battled hard across the pitch and held the attacks off until the 25th minute when Tenterden found the back of the net. 1-0 at the break.
2nd half and we looked more comfortable than ever – great movement on and off the ball and some great opportunities created. Liam found the net twice (well done mate) and at 3-2 down I thought a draw would be good. Chance after chance came our way and I would not be lying if I said we had a good dozen attempts on goal in this game! The defenders winning the ball – shipping out and midfielders working hard to move closer to the goal. This was the best all round game of football we have played (may not be the best result).
As the game moved to the finish Tenterden netted another 2 goals and although we kept going right to the end the game finished at 5-2 to Tenterden Tigers.
I do believe that we played the better football and I know for certain that we can beat this team without a doubt. The Colts are improving week on week and it will all come good very soon.
I hope the rest of the squad felt the same as I did – like a winner! Everyone did as I asked of them and it paid off with a couple of great goals. We know we can score, we know we can defend, we know Finley can save goals….. now we put it all together and start to win some games.
Finley – Great saves mate and good goal kicks. Try using the width more instead of through the centre.
Louis – Great game mate
Luke – Great game with a couple of good free kicks.
Cade – Great game – good out wide.
Kieran – Great defending again – looks very comfortable.
Ben Tipping – Great game – did not back off once!
Ben Tinker – Some great runs again – used pace and nearly scored.
George Bailey – Great game with some quality link ups
George Head – Great game
Keeley – Superb – even the own goal ;o)
Lewis – Came on and made a massive difference, quality dribbling and great passing
Jack – Another good game – with better positioning the goals will come mate. Very pleased
Liam – Great game – 2 good goals and could have been more!! Nice strength on the ball too!
Keeley was chosen as our Player of the Match by Tom, Hana, Myself and the ref! Well done Keeley you worked hard out there today…. Thank you!
So there you go – another game played with so many positives, I am once again very pleased! Can we do better? Of course we can but it all takes time and I have no doubt that the home fixture will see a result against this team.  I love the fact that I can start playing people anywhere on the pitch with confidence and we have goal scorers!
My highlight of the day was watching after Keeley scored the own goal (sorry to mention it again), Luke and George went over to make sure she was ok as did a few others … that is teamwork. No matter what we think it’s much more than just football and this team are such a great bunch with so much heart.
Well done!
Liam – 7 goals so far
Jack – 2 goals so far
Luke – 2 goals so far

Bromley Green Colts vs. Tenterden Tigers

Saturday 2nd November 10AM Kick off

Venue – St Michaels

This weekend’s game we visit Tenterden Tigers for the 1st time this season.

Having never faced this team before all we have to go on is there current form! Having lost 3 and won 3 out of the 6 games they have played we know we have a challenge on our hands but one that I am confident we can rise to and walk away with a great result!!

If we can play with the same desire and passion that we did against Mersham a couple of weeks ago then anything is possible, all we need to do is find the back of the net and results will start rolling in.

As always match day is about the team and no matter what, we do it together! Win, lose or draw lets have some fun!!

Squad: Finley, Louis, Luke ©, Cade, Kieran, George H, George B (VC), Keeley, Lewis, Ben Tinker, Ben Tippen, Jack, Liam, Connor

Bromley Green Colts 0-8 Mersham
Report by Duncan Randall
John Page Trailers - edited logoWith last year’s defeat still hanging over me it was the day to put a few demons to bed! I had vowed to the team and myself that I would not lose 17-0 again and that we would come away from today’s game all happy regardless of the result.
I know the Colts are a much better team than last season and its not just the newcomers to my team but all of the players really have stepped up and are great little unit.
Main focus of the day was to go out and give 60 minutes of passion and see what we can come away with. I never thought for a minute just how good the team were going to do!
With 5 subs (the Max), I knew that some were not going to get as much pitch time as they wanted but to be fair to all of the players they were cool with this.
12:35 and the game started, the Colts looked well up for this and I must say looked the best I have ever seen! The headers were being won, positional play was great and the marking was tight, nothing more I could ask for!!
We held Mersham off for 18 minutes until they managed to find the net. It was 6 minutes until they scored the 2nd and then 2 more in quick succession making it 4-0 at the break.
The players all gave so much in the 1st half and were even asking to be subbed as they ran out of steam.
Second half saw 3 goals in the first 10 minutes but the Colts did not back down and took attack after attack on the chin. The game finished at 8-0 and to be honest Mersham were a tidy team on the day and very fair, they deserved the win. I would have loved us to score a goal and I am sure that the supporters of both teams would have loved that too!! We had a few chances on the break and on another day we would have grabbed a couple of goals!
I take my hat off to the ref as he really did a good job and kept the game flowing.
I cannot begin to tell you all how pleased I am with today’s performance – if we play like this in every game we play we will win more games than I first thought.
I was truly overwhelmed by the compliments we, the Colts, were getting from managers, coaches, officials and supporters. We played good football right to the end with great communication. Let’s stick with it and continue to build!
A few mentions, to be honest you all deserve a mention today!
Finlay – quite simply your best game yet!
Louis – quality positioning!
Luke – Fantastic leadership and communication!
Cade – gave the team 110%
Kieran – Great defending – nice and composed
Ben Tipping – Very impressive game, worked hard
Ben Tinker – Some great runs and great footwork
George Bailey – Wow, great football today
George Head – The best weighted passes of the day!
Keeley – Amazing game, looked comfortable in defence!
Jayden – Gave the team his all and played some great football!
Lewis – Once again really shone today, made a massive difference and kept his head up ;o)
Connor – Looked great and played to his strengths!
Jack – All over the pitch today and did some great defending, a real workhorse!
Outstanding game for our Player of the Match Finley Kelly, Finn was very vocal today and played his best game yet, moving out and shouting for the ball … And using his hands.
Well done Finn – thank you for the hard work.
There you go – we lost 8-0 but there is so much we can be pleased about, really pleased. As I keep saying we will win, lose or draw as a team – the score does not matter but the team does. We are growing better and better with each week and as I type we are sat in 7th place out of 11 in the league. It’s a great start and one that you should all be proud of.
Liam – 5 goals so far
Jack – 2 goals so far
Luke – 2 goals so far
No game this Saturday

Bromley Green Colts 0-6 New Romney
Report by Duncan Randall
Match day and we faced newcomers to the league New Romney.
I had a feeling today was going to be tough as they had won 4 out of 5 games and were sitting at the top of the league with 12 points.
That said I was not too concerned as I know the team would do their best.
After the warm up we were off but it all seemed a little slow and panicky from the Colts and within 3 minutes we were 1-0 down!
The next passage of play went OK for 10 minutes until the next goal went in and the heads started to drop and positions started to go out of the window.
3-0 down and it was time for a change moving Louis up into midfield and keeping just 3 at the back, still nothing!
4-0, 5-0 and it was clear that we were not going to get anything out of this game – last chance for us so I stuck Luke in Midfield to see what he could do and to be fair to him he worked his socks off but still nothing fell our way. Final result was 6-0 and as of today we sit at 7th in the league.
Positioning and marking let us down on the day but I cannot and will not take anything away from our opponents for on the day they were better than us and found the net! Goals win games and we have gone 2 games without any!
I am still pleased with the team as always and a few mentions have to be offered! Lewis was great and kept his head up even through defeat, last season that would not have happened so well done pal. Luke and Louis battled hard and adapted to the change in positions on the day.
George B, Ben and Ben all did well.
Player of the Match was George Head today – His positional play and determination was fantastic as always – Well done pal ;o)
Overall – a good game and we did not give up until the final whistle but we do need to stick to our positions, mark tight and stop ball watching!
The team are 11 and 12 years old with a lifetime of football ahead – we WILL lose games and we WILL win games just like the teams that we all support. As long as we make sure we win the games we know we can and try our very best on all the others we stand a very good chance of some great results this season. Just please make sure you keep believing and keep trying right up to the final whistle of the final game which is a long way off! But please, above all else, keep enjoying the game and keep coming back for more!
Liam – 5 goals so far
Jack – 2 goals so far
Luke – 2 goals so far
Next game – Mersham away!

Bromley Green 0 – Smeeth & Brabourne 4
5th October 2013
Report by Duncan Randall
Match day, Smeeth & Brabourne away at Sellindge! Weather looked  great and I can honestly say I felt confident!
The Colts welcomed George and Ben to the team as our new signings which was exciting for all of us.
We had to overcome the news that Liam would not be with us for the day but the team took this well and still seemed up for it.
The warm up went very well and the closer kick off the more confident I think we all became.
For the first 13 minutes we looked strong and then we went 1-0 down! Heads started to drop but only a little!
Chances were made throughout the next 15 minutes but we still managed to go 2-0 down!
Team talk and a few changes and we went back out all raring to go!
Second half we looked strong and again had some really good chances but 2 more goals sealed our fate at around 48 minutes and 58 minutes!
I will work on the negatives in training and it is still small stuff so no major concern.
The result is still an improvement on last year and I have faith that we will win the reverse fixture.
What was great is that we have found someone who can boss the centre of field and create opportunities, well done George. Nice to see some great corners being taken too!
Ben looked great too and really impressed me, a great start to our newcomers.
Fin – Had his best game with me so far – some great saves, great shouting and nice to see the hands!
Louis – Great game, watch the positioning again pal and listen to others.
Luke – Great game, tried hard to keep moving the defenders out quickly!
Cade – Good game but not quite at his best today.
Jayden – Worked hard, well done.
Ben Tinker – Did some great play today and listened to the team around him!
Lewis – Very impressed with Lewis today – battled hard and raised the team spirit!
Keeley – Poor first half (and that is her own admission as well) but second half was great!
George B – Centre Mid was bossed today – well done!! Great corners
Jack – Struggled a little today and let his head drop but……. I was over the moon with him as he did not give up!! What more can I ask.
Connor – Good game – solid performance.
Ben Tipping – Great first game – the nerves were hidden very well and you worked hard. Well done.
For those who were not in the squad I thank you for turning up and supporting – means a lot! Great banner Kieran, loved it!
Player of the match for me was Louis [pictured above] as he did not stop at all and made some pretty good tackles and clearances. Well done mate – looking good out there.
I am still very pleased with the game and also the attitude and sportsmanship of this great little team. I constantly receive positive feedback from all sorts of people in and out of football.
Next game – New Romney at Home.

Message from Duncan (2 October 2013)
21 September 2013 Luke RandallEvery 3 games I ask the team to vote for Captain and Vice Captain and at the beginning of the season they voted in Luke [left] as Captain and Finley as VC.
Last night they voted again (its all done one at a time and they let Claire know who writes it all down so its fair) and Luke was voted in for a second stint as Captain and also Finley as VC.
I think this shows how much Luke has grown in confidence and also how much the team trust Fin – which could be seen at the weekend with balls being played back to the keeper.

Bromley Green Colts 3-2 Hawkinge Youth
Report by Duncan Randall
So today we welcomed Hawkinge to Waterside for a game that I knew was going to be tough! The Colts lost both games to them last season and Hawkinge had so far lost the first 2 games of this season! They would be fired up I was sure of that.
Tom, Hana and myself had decided to try a different formation with 3 across the back and 2 strikers to really go all out for goals! My substitutes were to be made at strategic points of the game, it was all worked out and ready to go …
The game got off to a great start with some great efforts on goal and it looked like we were going to dominate the game (which I still believe we did) but with a couple of silly mistakes (these things happen folks) we found ourselves 1-0 down. We still looked sharp though and in the air we were winning almost every ball which was brilliant. Then after about 20 minutes we managed to go 2-0 down to another very soft goal and to be honest I soon realised that we just did not suit 3 at the back – gaps could be seen and it just was not going to work. My fault folks – we were not quite ready for it today.
After a few changes we carried on battling hard to try and claw a goal back before half time and it came in the shape of a Jack Hollamby sweet shot, brilliant! Then shortly after that Liam found the back of the net which meant we were well and truly back in the game!
Half time team talk and a few more changes, focus was to be all about a clean sheet in the second half and just keep trying our best. I think we all knew we could win this game and to be fair to every player they dug deep and went for it! A few injury niggles meant the changes were all out of sync but the squad adjusted very well with each substitute made which pleased me so much.
The second half saw a few nervy moments but we looked good. After 45 minutes myself and Tom were discussing changing things and going all out for the win but I was reluctant to change too much as we still looked like we could grab it. Then it came – Jack slotted home his second of the game.
I was over the moon!
All we needed to do now was to defend hard and see the game out! We conceded corners right up to the end but they could not find a way through.
The whistle blew and we had done it – won our 2nd game of the season which means we now sit mid table.
Fin – Better 2nd half than 1st, did well
Louis – Great game, watch the positioning
Luke – Great game, Great Captain (2 wins from 3 games, 2 goals!), vocally brilliant!
Cade – Fantastic!
Jayden – Worked hard, well done. Don’t turn to goal when defending.
Ben – Looked dangerous today – a striker in the making with fantastic pace.
Lewis – As always, gives his all for the team and makes some great play (well done) – don’t worry about the mistakes mate.
Keeley – Another player that gives me everything – well done.
Liam – Some great footwork and ball control – need to get a little hungrier for the ball to win it back but that will come. Great goal
George – Once again shows his skills with some level headed passing that always create us opportunities! Superb
Jack – What a great performance today, great tackles, great runs and great goals!
Connor – Really made a difference in midfield when he came on and really impressed me!
Kieran – I am very pleased with Kieran so far this season as his confidence on the pitch shows – well done.
Player of the Match was Cade today – He really gave the team 100% and battled hard until the bitter end – Well done pal ;o)
I can honestly say that I am over the moon with the game today and I had lots of people congratulate me on how good we looked and performed!
You guys make me proud to be the manager!
Liam – 5 goals so far
Jack – 2 goals so far
Luke – 2 goals so far
Next game – Smeeth and Brabourne away!

Report by Duncan Randall
Green v Green!
Its truly great to see both teams on the pitch at the same time and to see just how far they have all come over the seasons. I look back at pictures from a couple of years back and I cannot believe these are the same players!!
I know Ian and Martin have a very strong team this year and off the back of 2 wins and 6 points I knew today was going to be a tough fixture for the Colts.
The Colts however are not to be underestimated this year as we have some real talent developing and the team has bonded really really well.
We did manage to start off very strong and played some great football for the first 10-15 minutes and Liam managed to hit the post (how it never went in I have no idea), If this had managed to go in I have no doubt that the game would have played out completely different but that is football.
So for the rest of the game we seemed up against it a little and we buckled against a team that kept its cool very well. Every break we managed to get was either closed down or Charlie in goal managed to get to it. We tried a few different things like dropping Liam into midfield to confuse the man marking and it worked for a while with a few breaks from Jack, Ben and Lewis. Liam kept trying to grab a goal wherever he could.
As it happens we did manage to grab a goal in the closing minute with a free kick taken by Luke helped along by Ryan. 2 games and 2 goals from a free kick by Luke. Well done son.
Massive well done to the whole team today – whilst we may have stuff to work on and positional play went out of the window a little every single player on the day kept their heads up for the whole 60 minutes and it was smiles all round. Thanks guys, that makes it all worthwhile!
Special mention has to go to defence today – you held off attack after attack and whilst the goals were going in your fight and spirit were there until the end, Luke as Captain really stepped up and his shouting could be heard all over the field. Kieran looks better each game I watch and Louis and Cade battled hard. Jack, Lewis, Jayden, Ben, George and Keeley did well. Liam looked dangerous on goal but today was not the day for him to get on the score sheet. Finley had a great game and stopped a lot of balls, well done.
My only criticism for the day was positioning and man marking and also moving the ball and players out of the box faster. Other than that I was pleased with the day’s work.
So man of the match – I asked Tom his opinion and he said Luke straight away with no hesitation. I feel sometimes I have to justify myself as its my son but on the day I really do think he deserved it, a great game and great captaincy.
Special thanks to the supporters for such a good turnout and to Hana for the lovely cakes!!
Time to pick ourselves, dust ourselves down and grab some points in the next couple of games!

Venue: Waterside
10AM Kick Off
So its derby day again where both of our U12 teams face each other on the pitch.
Always a hard game for all involved and I hope everyone enjoys it regardless of the outcome.
Both teams have new players and a whole new look about them so it will be interesting to see how they look.
The Colts are looking good and after the first game of the season and the first win I am certain they will come out looking to impress. We will have a tough game I am in no doubt of that but if everyone does their job and gives 100% then I am sure we can get the chances we need.
The team for the day is as follows:
Finley K (VC), George H, Jayden M, Louis M, Jack H, Luke R ©, Connor M, Liam H, Lewis S, Cade R, Ben T, Kieran L, Keeley F

Bromley Green Colts 4-2 Biddenden Juniors
Report by Duncan Randall
Saturday morning and our first game of the season!
The nerves had been with me all morning and the fact we were the late kick off at 11:30 did not help – if I felt that way then I knew some of the boys would also.
The players seemed well up for it and after unveiling the new Player of the Match trophy the excitement could be seen.
With the game under way it was clear to see that the Colts really wanted this game to be ours and grabbing the 3 points was the aim!
In the 1st half we were by far the better team playing some great football all over the pitch. Ben was making a big difference in midfield linking up with all other players. Defensively we looked strong with very few mistakes and Luke and Fin were starting to find their voice!
2nd half and a few changes were made which did not disrupt the game at all and in fact gave us a slightly different style of play. Biddenden came out strong and could have scored a few easy goals but the gods were on our side for once. A few nail biting moments at times and the score was 3-2 to us – I was a little concerned but I had no need to panic as the Colts dug deep and battled hard to the end and won 4-2.
Jack could have had a goal counted and I think maybe Ben’s but the shocker of the day was Luke’s free kick from almost on the halfway line – I told him to bury it as we had nothing to lose and fair play to him as he did just that! On target with the right amount of power and the keeper fumbled it OVER the line only for the ref to not allow it! What a joke – the linesman and parents and the manager of Biddenden Juniors all said it went over (even Ian and Martin who were stood on the line agreed it went over. I was gutted – yes because it was my son (I think I would have cried like a baby to be honest) and yes because it’s my team – when it’s that blatant that it’s a goal I would be gutted for anyone of the players.
For the record – let’s call it 5-2!
Everyone played a huge part in today’s great start to the season and special mention has to go to the other boys who turned up to support (Scott, Lewis, Harry, George and Cameron. Apologies if I have missed anyone) thanks lad – we all really appreciate it.
Goalie – Fantastic, started to come out a little earlier and some great saves with the hands.
Defence today was great – the back 4 linked up well and covered each other in times of need.
Midfield played some great football and again linked up well with everyone. The assists were great!
Please remember that this is a team game and everyone played their part – goals cannot be scored without the rest of you shipping the ball up field.
Player of the match had to go to the star of the day who scored 4 goals and that is our new striker Liam Hagan – well done pal, you worked really hard today as lone striker and you have settled into the team so well.
There are a few things to work on but fundamentally we are moving in the right direction and I am proud of every one of you!
3 points in the bag!
Happy Days!

Smeeth & Brabourne 3-2 Bromley Green Colts
Report by Duncan Randall
On Saturday we faced S&B for our first ‘true’ game with the new-look squad; I was nervous so I knew that the players would be too!
We started off a little slow and I think that cost us a couple of goals but what was nice to see was how well we looked once settled. Defensively we looked strong and with a little more confidence and more vocals it will be spot on. Midfield worked hard and strikers looked sharp.
At half time we were 3-2 down with our goals coming from Jack H and Liam H (well done). Lots of hard work in the second half kept the scoreline the same and to be honest both teams could have scored.
Special mention to Player of the Match Louis who fitted in well in his first game for us and linked up well with Luke and Cade across the back. Yes we have things to work on but please remember we lost 9-0 both times in the season to S&B.
Well Done!

Preview of the first league game
Match date: Saturday 7 September
Bromley Green Colts v Biddenden Juniors
This is our first league game of the season and we face newcomers to the league Biddenden Juniors, we have played these before in friendlies and tournaments so I know they will not be a pushover. I believe they have moved from The Weald of Kent League where they have won the league 2 seasons in a row!
We will have to be at our very best on the day and I have faith in my team to go out and give 100% to gain maximum points. The Colts really are looking good and the team has gelled better this year than previous.
New assistant Tom has settled in well and looks to be a huge asset to the side-lines and also through coaching – I fear he may be losing his voice on match days though.
Let’s make sure we find the back of the net in our opening game and strive to keep a clean sheet at the back.
