We had a good morning’s football, winning one, drawing one and losing two. We played some lovely team play and a big thank you to Adam for going in goal. The player of the tournament was Joe for his all-round play. Pat.

Green U8s in entertaining mood
Report by Pat Penfold
The amazing Under 8s had an incredible morning, bouncing back from having an initial goal against them to produce the true BG determination to do themselves proud. There were 2 stunning goals from Joe, and 2 superb goals from Spencer, who got Player of the Match for his teamwork. All the players played well in their first game of the New Year, despite the bitterly cold start to the day.
It’s party time for the younger players
Children’s Party on Saturday [13 December] 4pm-6pm for U8s, U9s, U10s and U11s. A final reminder that people need to confirm and preferably pay £5 per child to Jane/Michelle/Natasha/Emma or myself … during training this week would be great, thank you Debby.
29.11.2014 Saturday please meet in the clubhouse by 8am … we kick off away to Hawkinge at 9.30am
Never mind the weather!
The awful weather failed to dampen spirits on Saturday as the squad visited Khaled [right] at his car sales business in Dover Place. A downpour ruined any chances of playing at Waterside but there was still time to have some fun.

As soon as we are changed, there is a short trip to our fantastic sponsors Key Auto Trade in Dover Place for a photo shoot. Then, back to the ground with Pat for the match with Amir our referee. The under 8s enjoyed a great game today and they played well as a team and had fun. They all tried their best. Johnny and Spencer ran their little socks off; Ryan, Kane and Kyle also played well. Jo took a solid penalty to produce the BG goal. Adam was Player of the Match for all the brilliant saves that he pulled off, truly keeping the squad in the game.

Debby Claber reports on the Under 8s first-ever tournament
After being together for a mere 2 weeks, the Under 8s had their first tournament on Saturday 10th May. A squad of 9 travelled to Wye, to play a total of 7 games over the afternoon. Luckily the earlier rain had cleared for us, although the wind remained and was against the team in their games. Despite this (and its attempts at blowing the smaller players over), our young players stayed busy (and mostly upright) on the pitch and their energy lasted throughout the afternoon – as did their smiles and positive attitude.
Coming up against so many teams, whose players have been together for so much longer than our youngsters, was not going to be easy.
